I've taken guests there for special occasions. A friend and I celebrated our plans for a trip to Hawaii. I ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon to compliment our dinners. I believe my friend had lamb and I probably had seafood. All the food was...excellent. My second visit with another friend was nice, however the maitre'd was overbearing boarding on flirtacious. My guest was offended, but was gracious to try to not let on and disappoint me. This service is the only reason I did not give them five stars.More

We went here to celebrate my 60th birthday, staying at the Drury Plaza. From the point of view of being a restaurant that felt appropriate for a special occasion, it was a success. The large numbers of staff, table-side "preparation", and high prices did make...it feel special. There is a fine line between attentive service and intrusive service and with all the people coming and going it felt a bit over the line. The table-side service is really just heating things up slightly by your table; it isn't prepared there. It does seem sophisticated though. We split the scallop appetizer which was truly exceptional. If we do come back here, I would definitely get this again and not share. My husband had the linguini with clams and pancetta which was very good but he thought it wasn't as good as versions he had had in Italy. The disappointment was my meal. Based on the reviews, I ordered the Lobster Albanello. The lobster was sort of tough and didn't have much flavor and the sauce was not as tasty as the one for the scallops. Our waiter or "captain" was a bit judgemental about my husband getting just pasta for his meal but we didn't even finish what we ordered and didn't have room for desert. By the way, there is no sign at the entry, just a valet parking sign and men in red jackets, which does make it seem exclusive.More

We had an amazing dinner at Tony’s while in Pittsburgh this weekend. The food was very good and the service was amazing. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

First visit to Tony's. Very impressed by the food, the service and the ambiance. We are New.Yorkers'(Long Beach, Long Island,) in STL for a couple of years. STL has the reputation of being a "foodie city" and Tony's confirmed that designation. We were introduced to...Tony's by a couple who are regular patrons. We will look forward to visiting Tony's again in the near future.More

Arrived for an early dinner on January 17, 2020 (Had a two hour drive home afterwards.) It was a miserable night with freezing rain, snow, ice, etc. Pulled up to the canopy and the valet attendant was immediately there with an umbrella for my wife...and right back to escort me in. We were the first customers of the evening, and were greeted warmly by the maitre'd and immediately seated. Water and bread were promptly served along with a wine list. Each of us had a great glass of wine while we contemplated the menu and specials of the day. Starters were roasted cauliflower risotto for my wife and a cold white asparagus with leeks and herbs for me - Five stars for the apps. Dinner was lobster and shrimp/prawns in mustard sauce for my wife, and I had one of the daily specials - osso buco. The veal was fantastic, even including a special bone marrow spoon to dig out the good stuff. Wife also liked her entree very much. Finally, dessert was bananas flambe for me and a special torte with salted caramel ice cream and a separate small piece of pineapple cake for her birthday. Many of the items were flamed/cooked/finished at tableside. We were impressed and would recommend this place for any special occasion. I can't think of a single thing that could have been done better. We'll be back.More

We walked from our hotel to Tony’s on a Saturday night. Called for a table beforehand and were warmly greeted by name. The rest of the evening was a wonderful experience. Perfectly cooked food that was beautifully presented. And the service was amazing. Our group...included two professional chefs and foodies and everyone left thrilled with our experience. Don’t let anything keep you from this place.More

It was a group of 11 persons asnd evry body enjpoyed tbeir food. I really like Tony's salad. They have valet parking which is grest whesn the weather is not coopssrating.

Always first-class, delicious and professional. The entire experience here is 5 Stars. We eat here often and enjoy it every time. We just learned that the restaurant may move from the heart of downtown and that would be a serious disappointment, I doubt we will...follow the restaurant to a new location if it is out of downtown where our company resides.More

I had heard of Tony's for years but never was able to visit the restaurant. I have often heard it referred to as Old School, or simply an old long time place. But it is actually in a rather modern building and entering the place...you feel like you are just visiting an office building. So nothing of the physical structure/presentation was that impressive to me. That said, the entire staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and happy. The food? My wife ordered fish. I thought this was dicey as we live in Florida and are frankly spoiled with fish. Her grouper was prepared perfectly and if you did a blind tasting you would not know if you were on the Florida coast or in the geographic middle of the US. Very impressive. I ordered a steak. With the seasoning they added and the quality of the cut it was perhaps one of the best steaks I have ever had (I don't know why I was surprised but I was happily surprised). Our salads were good (one complaint is that the "bib lettuce" salad actually had Romaine instead), and the dessert we split was also good. Overall, it is not cheap but the prices were very fair and their wine and drink charges were very fairly priced. Our main courses were outstanding, superior. Now I want to go back and actually try their pasta (it is after all an Italian restaurant). Get a reservation if you want to ensure a table.More
