Saturday morning at 11 AM you might think you would beat the rush for brunch.Sqwires has an extensive bloody Mary bar and champagne bar which is a big attraction. Few of the ingredients on the bar were labeled. If you like cheap gummi candies, you...will find plenty. They also have live music with a wonderful ragtime piano player. Unfortunately the music was so loud we could hardly hear each other talk at a table of five. It took over an hour to get our meal and we had to flag down the server to take our order and to get us to go boxes, and to get the check so we could escape the loud music. My meal was adequate, but nothing exceptional. Eggs Benedict with “house made smoked salmon.” The salmon was served chopped, not sliced, and it was rather favor less. It could have been straight out of a can,perhaps. My meal was warm but not hot. The hollandaise sauce was bland. When we asked our server what was taking so long for our meal, she said it was brunch and they were busy, as if we should understand their problems. I say they should hire more staff or only use fewer tables.More

We had a wonderful, relaxing brunch! The place is charming in an old factory space. Food is homemade and excellent! Great bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary bar! They even had a piano player! Recommend that you make reservations.

We've eaten here before with much better results. My husband ordered the brioche French toast which was quite good. I ordered the smoked brisket hash which came with eggs. I asked for mine over medium. I specifically asked that the white needed to be cooked...with the yolk still needed to be runny. The hash was tasty but not not only was my egg over hard but there was brown lacy edges which brings back nightmares of my childhood. Plus there was a great deal of grease left in my plate. Our waiter also was handling a birthday table with a large party so I give him the benefit of the doubt that he otherwise would have checked on us before the check came. We were comped half the cost of my meal. The watermelon lemonage was delish. Would have preferred not to listen to the piano player. Quite conversation with my husband would have been preferable.More

We went for breakfast in a Saturday morning and the food was good. The Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar was outstanding with just about anything you wanted to top off your drink. Want to go back for the brunch buffet on a Sunday.

Stopped in for lunch. They were not busy....at least from my point of view. The waiter was very attentive and helpful in our selections. He brought out 2 bottles of chilled water for us and we consumed it all. He recommended a stir fry and...told me the calories so I decided to order. It was very tasty and healthy. I thought the food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen, but it was worth the wait. I would go back again!More

Went on Friday evening. Had seafood special and live music. Musician was really good. Good food and pleasant service. Spinach salad and Fish tacos were really good. Very pleasant experience! Would eat there again.

We made reservations for brunch because it makes life easier for all. We had a table for 7 with no problems. Our waiter was amazing. The food was even better. They all a 2hr Mimosa and Bloody Mary bar for a small fee. Really a...great value. The donuts and coffee were amazing. I had a hot toddy that was so delicious. The inside of the building used to be an old mattress factory and a lot of the beams and machinery is still on the ceiling. I love that!! Great for 2 or 10 guests! A must try if you're in the area.More

This restaurant should have fessed up if they could not accommodate space for seating. Instead they found an off shoot table in an off shoot space. This lended to the theme for the evening's experience of ignoring, dismissing and hostile service. The drinks were standard....The menu was had enough diversity to accommodate yet not overwhelm. The crab cakes were divine. Unfortunately, we were eager to move on rather than further explore the menu or observe the elements of this venue's origin. The waiter was rather rude which was noted by our entire party. "Joe D." If a restaurant cannot offer a better service experience then remarkable food is pointless.More

Stopped in after traveling in from Chicago by train. It was Happy Hour. We had glasses of the house wine along with a calamari app. All were tasty. Ordered 6 boiled shrimp that were nice size but no flavor! Would not order the shrimp again....Then we had a burger which was very tasty. It was a nice ending to a long train trip full of delays...but that is Amtrak!!More

Sqwires Restaurant has been around several years now, I've eaten there many times and I can say they have never served me a bad meal. But this Saturday night, it was different. I had a pot pie. My wife had a French onion soup. We...shared crab cakes as an appetizer and we both had a non alcoholic drink. And as usual, the food was very good. It was as good a pot pie as I've eaten anywhere. The crab cakes were delicious, the French onion soup likewise . So what could I possibly have to complain about? It cost me over $70 with tip. I notice more and more I rate a restaurant on what I had to pay for food as much as whether I liked it. I've concluded most restaurants all overpriced these days so when I get a mediocre meal that I have paid way too much for, I hate it.But when I get a delicious meal that I paid too much for, I can't understand it. I suppose the next guy would say he got his money's worth but the best pot pie and French onion soup and crab cakes in the world shouldn't set you back $70+. Sorry Sqwires. I like your food, my wallet does not.More

This is a great family place and the staff are so wonderful. Just wish they had some gluten free options on their menu other than eggs and salad and bread. This is one of the very few places in St. Louis that actually serve gluten...free bread~!! Love them for this~!!!. While they are very willing to accommodate patrons with celiac disease, it is not the same as actually having gluten free options on the menu. There is always the fear of contamination in such a busy kitchen. Note: Would be nice if they published the price of their Sunday brunch on the menu.More
