Had never been, but on a recommendation I made a reservation this past Friday night to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I only mention when we were there so that management is able to pass on our accolades to the specific staff members who made ours...a true dining experience. A very quaint, Italian dining room which would fit in with those on The Hill. We were seated in a nice candle-lit booth and our hostess was happy to answer my wife’s inquiry as to her personal favorite item on the menu. We were greeted immediately by a very pleasant young lady working as a server assistant. She was very welcoming as if we were guests in her own home. Then came the reason we are still reliving the evening two days later - our server, Alexa. She was outstanding! She checked all the boxes in executing her job. Greeted with a very warm welcome, and knowledge of not only the off-menu specials, but the accompanying sauces and preparation as if she had just made them herself. Stopped in just enough to check on us, but not too much to be disruptive. As we complimented every course (even the garlic hummus for the bread), she thanked us each time and took great pride in knowing we were enjoying our meal. As for the culinary team, kudos. My Caesar salad was one of the best I’ve had, and we dine out 2-3 nights a week. We ordered the Shrimp Rigatoni and the featured Lobster Risotto. Both superb. Enjoyed the one-page menu, clearly in the chef’s effort to present quality over quantity. Did not review a wine list but the limited wines offered on the dinner menu were more than adequate to compliment the entrees. Though I tend to steer clear of house wines by the glass, their selections were carefully selected and moderately priced. Selected and enjoyed the Chardonnay. Alexa then surprised us with a phenomenal birthday tiramisu, compliments of the staff. This restaurant was perfect for a casual couples dinner. Ambiance - not formal, but very nice. Food - excellent. Service - outstanding. Overall Experience - genuine gratitude from staff of our patronage has solidified our desire to return to experience the other wonderful menu selections. Thank youMore

Food was fine, service was fine, but strange thing about our bill. When I checked it at the restaurant everything we ate or drank was listed with the correct price. So we paid and left. Today I was entering the bill in Quicken. I always...list what everyone in our party ate. If we return again we like to see what we had on a previous visit. When I listed everything, I checked my typing to see if my subtotal matched the subtotal on the bill. My subtotal was $3 less then the restaurant subtotal. I went back and checked all my typing, all OK. Then I opened a spreadsheet and enter each item again and checked the total. Still $3 dollars difference. I had my wife double check that I wasn't misreading an item on the bill. No matter what I did I couldn't find a reason for the extra $3 that was not itemized. I went back to check the bill from November when we also ate there. The subtotal was $1 more than it should have been. So I guess than add a few dollars to each bill. One way to raise your profit margin! I don't think we will try for third time to see how much they add.More

I just went through every check from last night and could not find what you describe. I wonder if a specific item you are ordering is the problem. We would really appreciate being able to see the bills that don't add up properly. Jamie Komorek,...More

We are at Trattoria Marcella for an event with a set menu. The food was good and the service was friendly. I would eat here again as a normal customer.

We picked up take-out appetizers one Friday to enjoy at home. Our teens recognized that the offerings were unique and a step up from "regular" take-out. The calamari with flash fried spinach was a hit, as were the artichokes and housemade toasted ravs. Adults-only the...very next Friday for signature risotto and the shrimp rigatoni. When they have halibut, you should get it. And don't forget the cannoli! ALSO: GREAT job with post-Covid adjustments to socially distanced seating. No empty spaces, just decorated tables between seated parties, which maintains great atmosphere. As always, the staff all play great hosts and the service is to notch. You might guess this is a fancy place -- and it feels upscale -- but the prices are on par with standard neighborhood tavern/dinner restaurants, whether you get a pasta dish or full-out entre.More

Excellent choice for dinner. We had a party of 6 and started of course with cocktails. The wine selection is phenomenal, next up appetizers we chose of course toasted ravioli (because when in STL) the fried artichokes and polenta fries DELICIOUS! Up next dinner I...split the Chicken Soto with my friend which was enough for both of us, husband had seafood risotto STUPENDOUS, also ordered the lasagna (enough for 2) and the chicken cannelloni everting was prepared perfectly. It was either more wine or dessert we chose wine of course but the desserts sounded wonderful. Service was impeccable and the owner was attentive and friendly you could tell this place was a local favorite which we loved too. We’ll be back 😀More

As long time St. Louis residents, we have dined at many STL Italian restaurants. Tonight was our first dinner at this trattoria and wow! a delicious choice. A busy Saturday night but our server (Cassandra) was excellent. Recommended a Chianti Classico which was perfect. We...loved the freshly prepared toasted raviolis as a starter - which arrived promptly after we ordered. Shaved Brussel sprouts salad was so good and a nice change from a standard green salad. Husband had lasagna - prepared fresh (not a portion cut from a prepared lasagna pan). Rigatoni with shrimp, cauliflower, sun dried tomatoes with tomato cream sauce was very tasty. Finished with chocolate creme brûlée, a perfect accompaniment to our last glass of Chianti. We will definitely be back! Can’t wait to try the pizza and a risotto dish. Highly recommend this spot - authentic and delicious as a “Hill” restaurant. Thanks to the all the staff for a great dinner!!!More

We have a regular family group who gets together on a regular basis. Choose this south city landmark for our latest get together. The service was outstanding. The mussels I ordered were good, great. Special salad if the day was very good. Other members of...the party ordered the lobster risotto & loved it. But best of all was the chocolate creme brullet for dessert. Very rich. A great dessert.More

It has been a long time since we have eaten here. We usually eat at their sister location in Ballwin, Mia Sorella. The dinner was great. My wife had the chicken risotto and I had the special, Lobster risotto. Both were great. Risotto cooked perfectly....We were with another couple and he also got the chicken risotto and just loved it. His wife had the toasted ravs and said they were very good. We started with the house salad which was very fresh and good. Our waiter was exceptional as well as everyone else who took care of our table. Great dinner. 2 glasses of wines, one house salad, 2 entrees and the tiramisu (which was also very good) came out to $86.00....good price for the quality that you received plus the service.More

Very welcoming eatery – we were 15 minutes late on a Saturday night for our reservations due to a play that ran long in nearby Webster Grove. They assured us there was no problem and provided great service and value. My wife had the lobster...risotto, which she said was unlike anything she had before with fresh tomatoes. It wasn’t as heavy or rich of a dish as she expected, which was pleasing to her. I had the Bolognese andIt felt like I was in grandma’s kitchen. Excellent value and very lively spot in it’s neighborhood.More

I have been there since the opening and it never disappoints. Amazing food, great wait staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. We even had my son's rehearsal dinner there and introduced our wonderful St. Louis foods to out-of-towners.....Every one had a phenomenal time.
