Went here for lunch on a nice Saturday. Couldn’t sit outside due to an event, but enjoyed a solid lunch indoors, nonetheless. 2 of us had Reubens and they were the real deal. Excellent. Others enjoyed their meals as well. It got busy during our...visit and I’m guessing this place gets stupidly crowded at times. Not sure I’d want to fight those crowds. Also liked they had local craft beer on tap. Always support your local breweries!!More

I discovered John D. McGurk's when I was in St Louis on a business trip back in the 1990's. The food was good and the craic (fun atmosphere in Irish) was great. The wait staff and bartenders were all from Ireland. The music acts were...also brought to St Louis from Ireland. I guess that all ended with COVID. When we were there everyone except a bartender were Americans. I taught the others in our party how to order in Irish, but there was no one there who would have understood. The food was good, but the selection of Irish beer was limited. The building looks as it always has. I was more than a little disappointed.More

It was a sunny Saturday with just a hint of fall chill in the air when we lunched with cousins in McGurk's Garden. I had a bowl of Mrs. McAteer's Potato Soup and a small Spinach Salad. Both were top notch - especially the classic...potato soup. My wife loved her Smoked Turkey Club Sandwich. My cousins raved about the Fish and Chips and the Russell Street Reuben Sandwich. Service was attentive, the atmosphere pleasant and the prices reasonable.More

Great, large outdoor seating area…. Think secret garden, with pavers, water fountains and…. A bar! Menu has many “Irish” cuisine. Options. There were four of us in our group, food ranged from grilled cheese, corned beef and cabbage, Rueben and burger. .. not one of...us was unhappy!More

The patio is like being in a city oasis. More like a courtyard. Lots of greenery with 2 bars and a variety of table options. The vibe is happy and calm. All bars have multiple TV - good sports viewing. Foot is good and fair...priced.More

This was a very enjoyable lunch spot. We got to sit at the enclosed outdoor seating next to the Koi pond. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere. The service was good and our food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. Our server was cordial,...nothing over the top. But our food was delicious. We both had the rueben which was so good. The corn-beef was cooked to perfection and the dressing on the sandwich was just right. We would likely go back if in the area again.More

In the top 10 restaurants in St. Louis, we figured we’d give it a try. There is a large garden area which is inviting when the weathers nice. A full bar, with plenty of beer/liquor options, compliments a food menu full of standard fare and...a couple Irish offerings. It is a popular and busy place. Quality and service are commensurate with the size of the operation. Still, worth a visit. Recommended.More

Rating this as a 5...reasons? Perfect place for the end of a day. We were tourists and had a very busy day in StL after a drive in from KC. We went into the bar and it was nearly empty, as we sitting down I...made a comment to the waitress about not anyone here yet and asked if they might be busy. She said, "It's busier outside." What outside....the patio...with an 'of course' look. But we came in the front front door and had no inkling of a patio. Beautiful setting, there were open table but not when we left. Food was very good. I had the fish and chips, she had the stew. She commented that the stew tasted different than others she has had also in Irish pubs. But quickly told me it was really good. Evening was pleasant, it was early September. Flowers, plants...casual and comfortable. Will definitely remember this for any time we come back to St LouisMore

Great atmosphere, we ate in the outside fountain garden area. Food was very good, there was six of us and everyone was pleased with their food. My husband had a Ruben sandwich, which he loved, it was Rye bread piled thick with corned beef, sauerkraut,...and cheese. I had a chicken chef salad, it was loaded with many goodies, no complaints.More

12 adults and a 9 year old girl. Celebrating our twin daughters 60th birthday. I had an outstanding corned beef sandwich everyone enjoyed their food but one person had the potato soup and raved about it. We were not sitting as couples but Jacob never...mixed up who got what food or the drinks and there were a number of drinks. Great job JACOB! Each couple got the correct check I was amazed. Looking forward to going back for the corned beef and cabbage our daughter said it was the best she has had at a restaurantMore

my family and I get to McGurks at least once a month, usually more often. Always friendly, always delicious. But I want to write a review in favor of the steak I had. I have really enjoyed everything on their menu so far. But I...got a Gaelic Steak last time and it was quite simply THE BEST STEAK I have ever had. Oh my goodness, I cannot say enough how good it was.More

We stopped at McGurk's after a Budweiser Brewery Tour and enjoyed the GUINNESS STEW with a CORNED BEEF SANDWICH and RUSSELL STREET REUBEN. The sandwiches were overpacked with meat and the stew was phenomenally delicious. Service was exceptional. I hope to visit again soon.

Food and atmosphere was great. Plenty of seating outside and the menu has choices to meet everyone's needs. My only compliant was service was really slow and our waiter never checked in to see if we wanted more drinks or dessert.

We loved almost everything about this restaurant! We dined inside, and the atmosphere was cozy and felt very much like a traditional pub. We enjoyed live music, too. The outdoor patio area is beautiful, as well. Can't say enough good things about the atmosphere here....We were slightly disappointed in the lack of Irish beer options. They make up for it in Irish whiskey options, though! They did have Guiness, at least! The food was all so good, it is hard to choose our favorite. If I had to narrow it down, I would recommend the bacon-wrapped shrimp for an appetizer, the bangers and mash for an entree, and the the cheesecake for dessert. We also tried the spinach artichoke ravioli as an appetizer. Toasted ravioli is a St. Louis specialty and this one is a delicious option, especially for an Irish pub! The Irish stew is a very close contender to the bangers and mash for an entree favorite. The fish and chips were excellent also. We sampled the bread pudding, along with the cheesecake. Both were tasty, but the cheesecake wins out IMO. We would go out of our way to come back here for dinner again next time we're in St. Louis.More

I've only been there for lunch and there was no music. I'm sorry I can't help answer your question. Food is amazing, though. Now I'm hungry for their Rueben--beat I've ever eaten.
