I was craving ribs and this place did not disappoint! Pappy’s was on holiday and I heard this place was just as good. There was no line at 2:30PM and they weren’t sold out of anything. We were the last people to have ribs. The next people that came had to wait 20 minutes.
My husband and I ordered a rib platter with burnt ends, brisket, and sides. We also ordered wings with sides. The ribs and the burnt ends were the best items we had. The burnt ends were crispy and moist. The ribs had so much flavor and I love that they weren’t slathered in sauce. Pineapple Express and the vinegar sauce were my favorite.
The brisket was bland and the wings were plump and juicy. I wish the wings were dry rubbed as well. The sauce was one note, nothing amazing. The sides were okay. The fire and ice pickles had an interesting flavor and I couldn’t stop eating them! The slaw was ok and the BBQ pork skins were pork rinds. I liked having the bag of them, but they were dry and not very flavorful.
I would definitely come back for the ribs!

On a road trip and we just had to stop here. This food was the best food I’ve ever had at a smokehouse, and it has good pricing for a smokehouse too. If you want good food make sure to come here - it gets busy quick though

In a city where BBQ is plentiful and competitive Bogarts sits right at the top when what you are looking for is great meat. Located in the Soulard area it is a great spot to combine when adventuring to the Soulard Farmers Market. Only open mid day (or to when meat runs out!) it is a great lunch option. Nothing fancy and loved eating on the outdoor picnic tables. Limited menu and it is all about the meat. Portion size is large, so don't be afraid to split. Candidly what they do better than anyone else in STL is the BBQ sauce. Try them all and buy a bottle to go.

"I like Bogart's better."
- My STL friend
I'm going to disagree with him while Bogart's is good I don't know if it's the best. We went in the early evening and fortunately because the weather wasn't the best there was no one there. They were out of the pastrami and beef ribs but that was fine because neither appealed to me. I got the brisket and pulled pork as part of the 2 meat plate with the 'deviled egg' potato salad and the fire and ice pickles.
The pulled pork was ok, definitely a little dry and in need of sauce. The vinegar sauce had a little bit of tangy kick, but their other sauces: Pineapple express, Sweet Megan Ann's were ok. The Voodoo sauce was good though.
Of the sides, the pickles were the best, a little sweetness with more tart/sharpness really helped balance out the richness of the brisket. I didn't think much of the potato salad, it tasted like something out of a tub.

On a staycation and going to the local BBQ places leaving Bogart’s to the last day. The Brisket just didn’t have the flavor or cut anymore. It was thin and in water in a plastic cup.
Smokie Mo’s and Shorties still have a thick juicy cut on sandwiches and platters.

Beautiful day yesterday at the market. Everyone recommended Bogart's so off we went. Found easily enough. Because of covid they are taking orders at the door and bringing a box out to sidewalk picnic tables, which is all fine. I never mind sitting outside when it's gorgeous weather like this weekend. But, when we walked up the lady at the door was, well, unfriendly would be putting it nicely. I ordered the brisket sandwich- $13. You get two sides but I only wanted one. She wouldn't accept that for some reason and snapped I should just get two chips. So I ordered two chips. Kind of stupid but ok. Can't I just get the sandwich? No. Husband ordered wings. She snapped at him too. Whatever. Love spending $35 on a sandwich and wings only to be rudely snapped at several times. Food ok but cold. The brisket itself was really tender and delicious but the sweet bread overwhelmed it. The wings were HUGE and the moderately warm sauce was pretty good. Mild sauce was not that great. We drank pepsi and water- the only beer you can get is budweiser. Drinks are pepsi only or water. And maybe all of this is covid related. Not sure. We weren't going to get answers or have a conversation with this girl. She wanted us to go away. I might have liked it better but honestly my first impression was ruined by the rudeness. Sorry Bogart's could have been/should have been better.

Wanted some BBQ after the Cardinals game. Went a few minutes after 4 pm and the sign on the door said that they close "4ish". People were walking out with to go orders, the doors were open, several people were still inside eating and the girl working by the door was extremely rude and said, "we are closed." I asked if they were out of food and said that the sign said they were open until "4ish". She just replied again, " We're closed". They obviously still had food inside and just did not want to work any more. If they don't want my business, I will never go back.

The restaurant was a classic BBQ place, full of character and fun. The staff was friendly and prompt. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. We love BBQ and so a lot of smoking ourselves, so we were eager to try Bogarts. The brisket was melt in your mouth. That is the upside. The ribs were ok, just not as flavorful as the reviews and without sauce were a bit dry. The pulled pork was dry and not very flavorful either. The fire and ice pickles, which I had never had, added a nice element. Overall, I thought it was overrated. For the concerned among us, the staff was all masked up and following guidelines.

Connected by extended family with Pappys.
Certainly could use customer service skill development...try greeting or at least a grimace instead of a frown. I came for dinner around 5, it was mostly empty.
Decent bbq and sides with an array of sauces to add on the meat.
Above average but horrible counter staff-attitude. Should give it 3 instead of 4 stars.
Least favorite on my bbq tour.

WONDERFUL !!! I have been to BBQ joints from Texas to KC, and this is the BEST anywhere! The ribs are smoked in cherry wood, not hickory, so there is no aftertaste. They are tender and sweet and very meaty. I was there with friends and the half rack is big enough to share! The egg salad style potato salad is delicious. But the Fire and ice pickles stole the show! You must try them, they are unique. The baked beans are fine, a little sweet, but what do you expect! They had nice bits of onion and bacon. The homemade applesauce was really good, it had little bits of diced apple. I can't wait to go back. It is a small place with seating for about 25 or so. Get there early if you want burnt ends!

Hands down best bbq in STL. Rivals best in KC and Memphis. Personally I like it better than Rendezvous, and that says a lot! Ribs are unparalleled, but you better show up early. Ribs are first to go! Lines can be long, but it moves fast and well worth the wait. Even a weekday lunch, better try early - say 11. There’s really nothing on the menu that you shouldn’t try. But if you haven’t been, and bbq is in your repertoire, you need to go - post haste!

Second time at this bbq joint, second time leaving completely happy! I love bbq ribs and I'm not very forgiving if they're not what I want them to be. These were perfect! The sauce available was delicious, the potato salad was great and even the baked beans were good! The service was quick and easy, plenty of seating available. I can't wait to get back to STL for more Bogart's!

I am a bbq lover. This is my favorite restaurant for bbq! The ribs were meaty and very tender. The pulled pork full of flavor! I also like the fact they open at 10:30 am. Ordering at the door when you walk in makes it efficient to receive your order. Super worth the trip!

Famous BBQ joint in St Louis. Small no-nonsense place in the middle of a city neighborhood. Easy parking just down the street. Order at the door when entering and then grab one of the dozen or so tables available. We were here pretty early in the day just before noon and even though it was busy, there was no long line, and we didn't have a problem finding a place to sit. I ordered the half slab of ribs, and my sides were the beans and slaw. I have high BBQ standards and while the ribs were pretty good, I can't say they were that amazing. Not as tender as I was expecting. Certainly not as good as what you find in KC or down in Texas.

This place has absolutely the best BBQ that I have had anywhere (which includes Memphis and Kansas City). I usually get the ribs and burnt ends combo plate. I have been disappointed in the burnt ends from other BBQ restaurants, but Bogart's are the best. I made a point of calling out the burnt ends, because I have been disappointed at other places, but the "main attraction" (i.e. the ribs) are also the best I have had anywhere. Lastly, the baked beans are an excellent side item. Bogarts is clean, but definitely not fancy. If ambiance is at the top of your "must have" list, then maybe this is not your place, but if you're looking for great BBQ, then this is the place!
