The Over/Under Bar & Grill is located in the heart of the vibrant Loft District, on prominent Washington Ave, in downtown St. Louis. We are a mere block away from the St. Louis convention center and across the street from the Holiday Inn Hotel, Marriott St. Louis Grand, and the Courtyard by Marriott. The Magnolia Hotel, the Ramada Inn, and the Embassy Suites are also located within a couple of blocks. We are the place to watch all the games surrounded by 37 large LCD TVs. Centrally located to the big three sporting venues in downtown, the Over/Under is the spot to be before, during, and after all Cardinals, Blues, and Billikens games. Our spacious outdoor patio is the best place to sit back, enjoy the nice weather and live music, soak in the downtown nightlife, and is dog friendly. We also offer a complete upscale-casual lunch, dinner and happy hour menu, extensive wine and cocktail lists and a private room and lounge for special events. Happy Hour M-F, 2:30-6PM.

Enjoyed the Beer!

This place was just down the street from our hotel so we decided to try it. Great beer selection! Great afternoon so we sat in the outside area. The Chicken Philly done in a wrap was very good and had a Caesar salad, great dressing and it had shaved parm on it. My friend had the main salad with grilled shrimp. Salad was good but the shrimp were cooked a bit too long. Service was slow but the waitresses were personable.

This is a good bar to check out with indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a pretty good size place. The crowds are good and service and food is average, Not bad just average. Service was a little slow once it got crowded but outdoor seating seemed to get better service than indoors. In the area for a game or want to check out a bar, it’s a good place to check out.

Stopped with friends for the first time. I wasn’t hungry so I had the pretzel sticks which were good. Fairly good list of beers. Service was the problem. One friend was missing part of her order. We had to ask for our check and it was on one check despite asking for separate checks when we ordered

Slow service from the front of the house to the back...televisions all over the place, but the music was so loud you couldn't hear them, much less have a conversation without nearly screaming at each other. We ordered pretty basic meals, yet it still took well over 30 minutes to receive them, on a Sunday evening not huge crowd. I've had better fish and chips at fast food seafood restaurants. The friendly staff kept their score from being lower.

Very Good Experience

First off it was a very good experience. There was a Cardinal game in town and when we walked in you could tell they had been very busy before the game. We sat at the bar and was greeted quickly and had our drinks and order in very promptly. Food came out quick and it was the best Ahi Tuna my wife and I had ever eaten. The lady tending bar was very busy and if she wasn't checking on customers she was cleaning. I wish I had gotten her name but she was doing a really good job. Highly recommend the Over Under Bar & Grill.

Horrible Service

Our service was horrible. The waitress couldn’t have been worse. So slow - brought wrong food, didn’t bring silverware for 10 minutes after food arrived, didn’t bring the drinks that were sitting at the bar ready. Food was decent but go elsewhere if you don’t have 2 hours.

struggling during Covid

We certainly understand the problems restaurants are suffering through with this Covid mess.. Understaffed because employees would rather not work so the employees left are struggling to keep up. We sat on patio and were not greeted for at least 20 minutes. Once we flagged down a server, who was nice and very apologetic. We ordered cocktails, waited another 15 min for 2 simple drinks to arrive. One scotch and water came out but was an amaretto sour. Once the first drink was returned, all was fine with cocktails. Food was mediocre at best. Had pizza and wings.. Wings were not raw but not crispy at all, skin was not cooked well. On a positive note, 2 musicians provided great music. I'd say the server was trying her hardest but the problems that occurred were generally outside her control, other than not greeting us. Felt bad for them, think it was an off night with understaffed issues.

This place was a block away from our hotel on a rainy night, so that had a lot to do with our choice. We lucked out. It was great. We had some good beers from a large selection and we shared the catfish special. They had music that night and it was very good. Service was a little slow because they were very busy, but we never had to wait too long for anything. I would definitely go back.

Pizza and Burgers and Fries OH MY!

“Pizza and burgers and fries Oh my!” We were looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle after the Cards game (Pujols 695!) We found The Over/Under and walked right in! Our server was very attentive. He made great menu suggestions and I agree with him everything is so good! The beer was cold and kept coming. The burgers are seriously to die for! So juicy and flavorful!!! The pizza was great. Idk where they get their pickles but I need to know! Fried pickles were amazing and the same pickles on the burgers gave just the perfect bite! Overall great service and a great time. Food is awesome! Next time we will try the pasta. I saw that on the table beside us and it looked amazing!!!

Group arrival on a whim

Our group had traveled to St. Louis, largely from Iowa. 15 in total and arrival for drinks and appetizers prior to a Cardinal/Cub game. (Mix of fans at the table). We were kindly greeted and seated at around 4 pm. It was just beginning to get a little busy. I did not learn our server’s name, but he was stellar in his hospitable effort that day. Several drink orders mixed in with food ordered at different times for 5 groups of people in that 15 seated. The server handled it all with ease. Promptly and accurately keeping glasses filled and likewise with food arrivals. Pleasantly surprised to find this place that accommodated us, and priming us well for the under the lights stadium experience at Busch.

Went for dinner and had a fantastic tilapia sandwich with salad. Food was better than expected. Service was great and available when needed. The one dessert was a cake that was exceptional- melted in your mouth. Would definitely recommend.

Understaffed. Wait for two burgers was 1.5hr. Then a MR burger came out well done. But into the burger & could not bite into it. Cooks left the paper that separates the burgers on he burger & attempted to cook it & then serve it. QC is non existent. Don’t bother going. Even for a drink. Bartenders are super slow too. Nice try, huge failure.

Great Staff!

We recently visited the the restaurant while in STL for vacation. This might be one of the only restaurants that serves food after 9pm, which leaves them PACKED even on a Monday night. Alaina was our bartender and although she was overwhelmed with being the host, bartender & taking care of pick-up orders she did an excellent job of taking care of us! We had the ribeye & sirloin and both were we’re cooked perfect and the compound butter on top is super yummy! The mac & cheese is seriously the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant! Shout-out to Aliana, Ty & Mark for giving us a great experience while in the city and working non-stop to take serve their customers!

Great burger

Ordered their signature burger and added my own toppings with a side of mixed veggies. Took a little over 10 minutes to be served. Burger was hand made, hearty and cooked a perfect medium. All the toppings seemed fresh and were tasty. The veggies were also cooked perfectly and served with a touch of seasoning and butter. All and all I was impressed that a corner bar could deliver a quality meal in a pandemic.

Restaurant was clearly overwhelmed

We had a large group and the restaurant was unable to keep up. We were seated around 6. The first meal did not come out for about fifty minutes later and the final plate two+ hours after that. Flavor of food was very bland. Staff was unapolegetic for the wait and did not notice that people were not finishing their meals. Definitely would not go back on my own.
