This place literally stopped me in my tracks. I was walking downtown and caught the scent of this places's BBQ. Like some sort of pork-obsessed bloodhound I followed the smell for two blocks until I found this place. Now the funny part is that I'm...vegetarian but this place just SMELLED SO GOOD. I was able to get a good mix of sides, including a deep fried corn on the cob and sweet and hot pickles, which made my mouth sing. I only regret not eating meat so I could enjoy the full expanse of this place's menu.More

This was a stop built into our Route 66 trip and I am so glad it was. All four of us ate as if we hadn't see food before - It Is That Good. Be sure to grab a menu as you head in, because...you need to place your order before taking a seat. Whether you order the chicken, the beef, corn, fries or coleslaw - you're going to eat it all and you're going to love every bite.More

Outstanding barbecue and sides. In order to try it, our table had virtually each thing on the menu. Ribs, burnt ends, sausage, chicken, turkey, brisket. For sides we tried fries, sweet potato fries, potato salad, pickles, bbq beans, green beans. The only thing i believe...we missed was the pulled pork. The meat was outstanding. The sides were similarly great. We were not particularly big fans of any of the homemade BBQ sauces, but who needs them when the meat is so good on its own? Next time we plan to get tons of meat and sides and take it to go so we can pair it with Dickey's original sauce. We all will DEFINITELY be back every time we visit St. Louis.More

We were seated quickly, we came around 5 pm. There was quite a line after we got there, so I would advise coming early. The service was quick. The food was excellent. The ribs were the best! If you are looking for excellent barbecue, you...will find it here. We will definitely come back if we are in St Louis.More

Pappy's was our first stop upon arrival. It was a Friday afternoon and there was a long line to order, but totally worth it. Definitely a spot for local and visitors alike. This is the place for St. Louis style BBQ. Plenty of options to...choose from, casual setting. The cole slaw was really good. Perfect way to start your visit to STL.More

Had the Frito Pie with Pork and it was excellent. Great atmosphere, helpful service workers explained the offerings and suggested things everyone was happy with. Food was turned out quick and was perfect for everyone. Crossing Pappy's off the list of things to get to...as far as BBQ, and adding it to the 'got to go back and try the Ribs' list. Go hear, even if a wait (which we didn't have before 5PM) and if a wait, be glad you waited for good food and supporting a great business where the employees were pleasant and eager to work and make your dining experience with them a reason to come back again. A+ all around - and not too expensive either.More

We always love to check out the triple d recommendations. We really enjoyed the food. We had ribs and sliced. The corn was also good. Wait was like 20 min.

Group of eight. Nothing bad, just nothing great. I ordered burnt ends. Different meat was served, beef but not burnt ends. Beans were good. Staff nice. Everyone enjoyed their food, but no one loved it.

This is an outstanding place for great BBQ. The food is amazing and we particularly enjoyed the pulled pork. The place gets very busy and usually runs out of the most popular items by early evening so go early and be prepared to wait in...line sometimes for only a few minutes and sometimes much longer. There is parking tight behind the resturant.More

Wow best ribs ever! I mixed all four sauces in equal parts and it was amazing. The fried corn is the bomb! Applesauce was really good. Perfect meal!

The very best barbecue! Lunch was excellent. Had turkey, brisket, and pork all of which were wonderful. Sides are great too. Can’t brag enough about it. We went to downtown location.

Outstanding ribs, love the baked beans, potato salad and fried cord. The corn was so good I took 2 back to the hotel. All the meat is gluten free except the burnt ends. I also had a local Frits root beer. The brisket is unusual...and sliced paper thin. We didn’t care for it, but the ribs.., can’t wait to go back. Pappy’s has made a huge place for to go orders. We may try that next time. Great for all ages.More

Rented out the rear party room for my daughters soccer team and families. What a meat lovers experience. Pulled pork, Racks of Ribs, Brisket , Chicken, Mac n cheese, corn bread. Where do I start? Definitely one of the best smokehouses I’ve ever been to....The dry rubbed ribs were amazing! Would absolutely recommend if you are in the area.More

Brisket was tender, juicy and hint of smoke flavor. The burnt ends were the bomb.... tender with hint of sweet tangy seasoning. Get the pickles as a side!

I must say that this is some of the BEST damned BBQ I have EVER eaten in my life! My wife and I met a friend here for lunch, after I had already been impressed with previous reviews of this place and making a quick...stop here back in January just for a glass of tea while on the go. My ribs were cooked and seasoned to perfection and very tender! I am not typically a fan of potato salad but I just had to try it along with the baked beans, and I can only say Amen! The service was fast and the staff was SUPER FRIENDLY and COURTEOUS and checked back on us many times to see if we needed anything else. My wife was pleased and over-joyed with everything she ate, as well: the 2-meat sandwich, potato salad, and green beans. My friend was very impressed and said he wished he'd known about this place sooner! Since his wife wasn't with us, he ordered a half-rack of ribs to take back to her; I later learned she enjoyed them too! WE WILL BE BACK!!! (The fact that my favorite Blues musician, James Lee Hooker, is on the wall certainly helps!)More
