It’s hard to find well cooked food and healthy food but we have found it at public house in St. James, Mo. They offer grass fed beef and care about real food over cheap food. We have had no issues after eating there. Most restaurants...use mystery ingredients like msg or Splenda that can cause physical issues. The staff is helpful and the service is quick.More

We stopped in here while traveling through. It is a large open restaurant with a patio section for nice weather. It is a working brewery as well as a restaurant. It was not crowded on a Thursday early dinner time so we were seated promptly....The menu is burgers, pizza, Sandwiches, tacos etc. we started off with some pimento cheese dip with flat bread and it was terrific. Very flavorful and a large portion. We then had a caprese chicken sandwich and brisket tacos. The tacos were amazing, they had a Native American berry sauce that was especially tasty. There were others at the bar enjoying the local drinks and visiting. There is merchandise for sale and of course the craft beers and wine. All in all a laid back place to get a good meal.More

I was so excited to visit this place! I has read some reviews and it did not meet our expectations at all! We ordered pretzel bites with mustard and beer cheese. The little pretzel pieces tasted like grease and the beer cheese had no flavor....It was like watered down cheese. We had brisket tacos. All it was was some brisket on a soft shell. There was no cheese etc. would not go back and eat again!! The beer flight was okay. There were some good beers. The crème beer was good and I loved the semi dry cider.More

We live in Springfield and have family in St. Louis. We decided to meet half way for a visit and lunch. Public House was the perfect location. Right off I-44 easy to get to and lots of parking. We arrived right when they opened at...11:00qm. Nicole brought after right out to the 7 of us. We then placed our drink orders. She was very knowledgeable in helping us choose from their big selection. We ordered some appetizers. The beer pretzels and chili cheese fries. Loved the chili cheese fries. The Beer cheese for the pretzels was good but we were missing the salt on the pretzels. After our appetizers arrived we ordered our meal. The mushroom Swiss burger special was delicious. My husband enjoyed his HOT chicken sandwich. The seasoning on the fries was good. Because we were there to catch up with family we took our time. The staff never made us feel like we had over stayed our welcome. Even though they got very busy after the St Pat’s Parade. We enjoyed our visit and are planning to return in a few months when the garden is open.More

On the way home from Branson we stopped again at the public house brewing company for some of their incredible pizza. Even though I hate going to a sit down restaurant when driving on a trip, this is worth being an exception. The service is...always good, the servers are funny and polite and thoughtful. But the pizza is always off the charts. Good. I’ve got a meat pizza. - this is one that does not have pizza sauce. If you’d like pizza sauce, some of the others, they offer have it, but be sure, and read the menu closely if that’s a thing for you. Their pizza is always perfect. I believe they make the crust from scratch and it’s kind of an artisan type pizza. I can always taste a little bit of the flour on top of the dough. The meat and pepperoni that they use is very high-quality so there’s not a lot of grease. It’s a heavy pizza , and it’s always great to be able to take some home as leftovers!More

No pimento spread, Used to be world famous, No Pizza, Only small kitchen open so only burgers. The burgers are great but had planned on Pizza. They changed the pretzel bites to doughy chucks of frozen pizza crust or something worse, they used to be...great as well. Bottom line is call before you go & ask what's on the menu & if they have your favorite drink.More

We had amazing service from our server. Our drinks were very tasty, food was really good and great proportions, and dessert was a special surprise! Highly recommend stopping in if you live in town or are even just driving through on 44!

Saw mixed reviews but decided to give it a try. Wood fire pizza was amazing! Beer was very good as well. However..... my pizza came before I got to even order my beer. Waitress apologized, I get it they were a bit busy. Was willing...to shake that off if service was good. It continued to be poor! No offer of another beer, 6 pack to go or dessert. Came back after a minute of giving me my bill and then tried to take my flight with beer remaining. I left no tip, which is something I don't believe I've ever done.More

We’ve driven past here often and always intended to stop. Wish we hadn’t. As other reviewers have mentioned, the entry is unwelcoming and confusing. There’s no separation between the waiting area and diners. They’ve even got tables right up front next to the bathrooms (yuck!)...and yet they placed their “store” merchandise in the back by other seating? Still, we were anxious to try the drinks & food. First disappointment, we were told they were out of their “featured” trout fritters (this was noon on a Friday). So we ordered 2 other appetizers, chicken fingers & a flatbread. While we waited, we saw that the atmosphere is OVERLY casual. Several DOGS came through, one even sniffing the plates by the servers’ station - again Yuck!! Workers weee coming through the dining area - construction on the patio? - and the back door was propped open to cold air on those sitting and eating. We were sharing the apps, but we didn’t get individual plates. The marinara sauce that came with the flatbread was STRAIGHT from the fridge, stone cold. Lastly, we paid with cash, and our waitress shorted us by keeping the (coin) change. Not cool. Nothing appealing about this place at all. Will NOT return.More

On our way from Michigan to Arizona we stopped here for dinner as it was convenient off I-44. We had a great meal and the manager/waiter was very friendly. He brought us beer samples in addition to to our beer selections, which led us to...buy a mixed six pack. Highly recommended.More

My family travelled from St. Charles, St. Louis and Houston, Mo. to gather together for a family Christmas gift exchange and lunch at Public House Brewing Company in St. James. We reserved the" barrel room"(which by the way there is no charge for, you just...need to reserve it, how about that?) and would like to thank all those involved for making it so very perfect. The room itself is not closed off but somewhat separated from the rest of the dining area which I figured would be great for the little ones, giving them a little space to run around without getting under foot, even though after meeting the staff, they are all so great I doubt if it would have bothered them anyway! Everyone from the general manager, Bradon Parsons who had everything all arranged for us before we even stepped in the door, the manager on duty (sorry, I do not remember his name) who had all my information, the table all set for our 20 people including even the water, and our fantastic server Cameron, who waited on us all continually, kept all the food coming as I had requested and even if he had to jump over a kid or two, did so with a smile! He was such a delight! I had appetizers sent out and later an assortment of their brick-oven style pizzas, which are delicious. Everything came out hot and yummy. The rosemary fries are really good, the boys loved the Italian Meat Lover's pizza, I myself enjoyed the Ozark Forest Mushroom, while the younger kiddos enjoyed the chicken fingers. The older boys liked sampling all the different craft beers, which they host a large assortment of. They liked the darker beers; one was giddy goat and one smelled just like whiskey. I myself found the cream ale to be "just right". I would very much suggest you try this place for your next get together. They are super family-friendly, efficient, professional and really devoted to make your visit the best experience possible. In the warmer weather, they have a garden area, which we plan on visiting for our next family event. You will not be disappointed.More

Good beer, yummy pizza and a cool gift area. We got the mushroom pizza, be prepared for the extra arugula topping. It was good but not like any topping I have ever had. I would order again. Adalia was an awesome server.

So this is a fantastic location with great beers. Hands down love if for that. But I gotta say, when I ordered a mushroom pizza with spinach, I wasn’t expecting a literal salad on my pizza. At at 17$ I would have expected a LOT...more mushrooms. Very strange. I was very glad they had a gluten free option, huge plus. Buuuut they burnt the edges. Uhmmm… yeah! Some mistakes where made at an otherwise awesome place. I would suggest they put “a salad on a pizza!” as the description so no misunderstandings happen.More
