Visited the Public House on a Friday night for dinner before going to a concert at the university. It was a friendly atmosphere when we arrived. They were at our table immediately after we were seated and took our food and drink orders. It was...a good 30 to 45 minutes before our sandwiches arrived. The Ruben was very good. But the turkey sandwich and the Tuscan chicken sandwich were prepared with very highly processed meat (almost ground) and very little flavor. Be aware the beer is served at 45 degrees and a very limited food menu. All in a very disappointing visit. Will not return.More

Thanks to the wonderful staff & establishment for making our harrowing day on the highway a great experience! Staff went out of their way to serve us, and allow me to wait while my husband tried to repair our car on the NAPA parking lot...adjacent to their establishment. The flatbread pizza was great. Kind, friendly people served us well. We so appreciated it! Thank you!More

If the weather is nice opt to sit outside. The outside seating area is expensive with tables under umbrellas and beautiful flowers. There are adirondack chairs to lounge in if you're wanting a more casual setting. Third Thursday of the month they do a movie....Many beers to choose from as well as wine. We tried the Helles Lager and Flynn's Irish Red Ale. Highly recommend the blue moon burger or hummus tacos. Staff was extremely friendly. Bought a bottle of the Country Red wine to share with friends later in the week.More

Looked forward to stopping and eating on the patio on our way to Branson. Food was good but the service was terrible. The young man that was our waiter “forgot” everything we asked for and took forever to bring it. With our two grandsons being...very impatient, it was a huge mistake to stop here. Not a good place to stop while traveling unless you aren’t in a hurry. Maybe the other waiters are better but we won’t be back to find out. Very disappointing because the food is really good and the patio is beautiful.More

I ordered a roast beef sandwich and salad. The sandwich was great but the real surprise was the very large salad with a variety of leaves and lots of marinated artichoke. Beer was great. I began with a porter and finished with the Giddy Goat...which I’d do again. Bar service was immediate for drinks, a little slow for the kitchen, but, heh, I had a beer. When I told the server I had a hard time hearing when orders were up, she asked where I was sitting and brought it too me. Background music was at a pleasant level. Covid: they were politely aware and the table nicely spaced. In total, what I’d expect of a good beer pub, a great place to take a small group, and I’ll be back.More

Stopped in while traveling through. Great ambiance, clean, excellent beer, food and service! Nice they serve wine for my wife who is not a beer drinker. Salad was very fresh - mixed dark greens, nice no iceberg. Flatbread with pimento cheese dip was very good....Enjoyed the Revelation stout. Good selection of wine. Felt clean, open and safe given COVID. Staff was very friendly. Plan to stop back next time when passing through.More

The Public House in Rolla has excellent food and beer. We had two pizzas - the Ozark Mushroom pizza and a sausage pizza. Both were excellent. The beer was also great. The place looks like a grocery store from the outside, but don't let the...appearance fool you. It's a great little bar/restaurant.More

Excellent food & unique beer selection! I had the bleu burger(med well) and the hubby had the pub burger(well done). They were cooked to our liking. The fries were amazing! I liked the coffee stout and I don’t like stouts but love coffee. The tart...beer was very tart but something different. Highly recommend The Public House!More

My rating on the food is a little limited as I met two friends here in late afternoon but had already eaten lunch earlier. So I had only limited input as to the food choices and did not eat much, nor did I drink any...of the beer. The Ozark mushroom pizza was the highlight of the meal for me, with very flavorful mushrooms. The pretzels were somewhat underwhelming (and the first batch came out completely cold) and the kettle chips were no different from what I get out of a bag, in my estimation. I will give the restaurant credit in taking better than average pandemic precautions. The staff tending the bar wore masks, stayed behind the plastic partition, and they were scrupulous about putting on gloves before touching any food or beverage item. They don't refill water cups, but they will give you a new one. Most everything was served on disposable ware. Seating was limited to promote distancing. From what I could see, they did not require customers to wear masks.More

This place has the BEST beer! Both the Rolla and St. James locations have a fantastic atmosphere and offer different events at both locations such as live music and outdoor movies.

A good selection of their craft beers. Overall menu was good, but we would suggest adding burgers (which they have at their location in St. James). This was a Saturday night and they had live music, which happened to be bluegrass on this night--we were...good with that. Food quality is above average, but could be better. They have an area for patron to play games, which is really cool.More
