The catfish po boy was perfectly made. The bun was toasted and added an extra crunch. Fried green tomatoes were also great. Fast, friendly service!

I had the Philly brisket po boy with a side of baked beans. It was flavorful but the meat portion on the sandwich could have been bigger; there was more bread than meat in each bite. However, my sister had the pork steak dinner and...it was an eyeful, a plateful, and was very tasty (she shared bites). Also, I had the "homemade" Mississippi mud cake, which when it arrived was clearly made from a cake mix.More

Was visiting from out of town and thought we would try their catfish dinner. Service was good and staff was friendly. Seemed to be very popular and busy. However, the fried catfish was not very good. No seasoning, just warm not hot. Hushpuppies were overcooked...and no flavor. Sides were just average. Would not recommend the catfish.More

This restaurant is a lot like the old original family-owned cafes. Nothing is fancy about it, just perfectly prepared food served in classic cafe style. Quantities are plentiful, service is spot-on. And the food is delicious. Everything we ordered came exactly as described. I highly...recommend the Fishin' Pig.More

Special smoked brisket=2 pieces of grey leathery dry brisket. Off- smelling baked potato. No real butter for the potato- cheap vegetable oil spread. Weird pink raspberry salad dressing. Tiny fried shrimp. Unimpressive bland barbecue sauces. Lettuce itself was ok. Not tempted to finish my meal.

Slightly above average overall. Here is good and bad. Good: My server was attentive and upbeat. Menu is expansive Have not got a bad item yet. Good side items. Other My food was cold and it was very slow to come out The expansive menu...makes them decent most items but excellent at none. Decent fish, decent bbq. Better fish at a fish house, better bbq at bbq restaurant. Make sense? Prices are decent for portion sizes. M In summary. I love the independent guys and root for them. Menu items looked amazing. There were 5 of us. All the food was okay. Not bad. Best item: catfish poor boy, sauce makes it work.More

We stopped at Fishin' Pig today on the spur of the moment. COMPLETELY blown away by how good the food was. Holly was our server. She was incredibly friendly and never missed a beat tending to all her customers. We were just passing through to...visit friends, but we're hoping to return soon!More

I want to start by saying, just because I rated it poor this time doesn't mean I dislike this place. I really, really like this place, just read my post that was posted before and see how much I liked it. The proprietor and the...employees are great. All are very nice and willing to help. This is the reason I rated it poor this trip. I just hate it when I find a hidden gem like this and then when I return I get disappointed. When my wife and myself came back. We came in at 4:00 pm and had a seat, there were only maybe 10 customers in the dining room. The hostess was very nice and so was the waiter. Here's my beef. My wife ordered the half chicken plate with the delicious baked beans that I love so much. The chicken, while it had a very good taste was undercooked and therefore wasn't a good meal. The baked potato was not hot enough to melt the butter and the bread was dry. I had the fried fish because this was Friday and the brisket was served only on Saturday. I was disappointed because the fish was luke warm and soft not hot and crispy like the last time I was here. The hush puppies were luke warm as well. The cole slaw was just as good as the last time. The slice of onion was the good white onion sliced in 1/4" slices just right for eating with the fish. So overall it was not a good experience. Now with that said I'm not giving up on this place. I think it was just an off time. It bothers me that I may not get to eat here because sometimes, like today, off times is the only time I'm here and am able to eat. I would like to see them make sure the food is fresh and hot at all times not just at lunch and dinner times. I would encourage them not to leave fish under the heat lamps for long periods of time just to avoid frying up a fresh hot batch of fish it will cost you in the long run. If they do not give attention to this problem and correct it, they run the risk of losing local customers and becoming just another hit or miss ho hum restaurant.More

Out-of-the way place in Poplar Bluff. Very busy. Limited hours. Traveling and did the Sunday-after-church crowd, open from 11-3. Nice people. The catfish was moist with a cornmeal type crust. Not overdone. I had a catfish po'boy and the sauce was the highlight. Have tried...other po'boys through the south and gulf but this was the best sauce. Next time will try the BBQ.More

We had a small gathering here for my in-laws’ 60th wedding anniversary. While the food was very good (I’ll go back for sure) the service was exceptional. They allowed us to bring a cake in and even put it in their fridge to keep it...cool, offered plates and forks for the cake even though we brought our own, and provided great service throughout the dining experience. I can’t say enough about how nice the staff was!More

Driving through on our way back to NC and found this little jewel - what a nice lunch! Food was good - Holly was awesome! We'd go back just to talk to her again.

Went there twice in the last month and both times were seated very quickly for a party of five with no reservation. Great casual family atmosphere. The food always tastes great! The fish and rib platter is the best & the pork steaks are huge!...It used to be one of our favorite places to go with family. The downside is that despite the taste of the food, the last two times my husband, son, and I have each had terrible indigestion afterwards, obnoxiously foul indigestion. I wouldn’t say it made us “sick” but we each were drinking Pepto for the rest of each night. We thought maybe the first time was a fluke but with this happening twice now, we made the unfortunate decision not eat there for a while for our stomachs sake.More

Six of us cane for lunch on our way home from vacation. We ordered brisket plates and pulled pork plates and fried green tomato burger and fish and shrimp. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. It’s easy to see why they’re #1!! Yum!

What a great place! Only complaint if it is one is too much food. Had 3 piece catfish and hush puppies. Came with 3 sides. Had vinegar coleslaw, mac and cheese and baked beans. Delicious. Others had pork steak, brisket and a salad with chicken....All delicious and we'll worth the wait. Very busy. Thanks to Katlyn W for great service.More
