Second Visit, Still Want To Like The Food ...

My wife & I popped in to Casa Juarez late in the lunch hour on a Monday national holiday, for a belated opportunity to try different dishes than we had on our first visit several years back. The interior spaces remain clean & very impressive - including their large Mexican-themed shop that you pass through to access the dining & bar areas - and our table service was good with our meals being delivered promptly. As with our first visit the complimentary tortilla chips were the most satisfy part of our lunch, and this time the salsa was pretty good. My wife said the Taco Salad was average compared to other Mexican restaurants around the area. My Enchilada & Taco Combo was unremarkable, especially the bland beef. The prices were fair for the volume of our meals, but the ingredient quality & flavors are still missing something(s) that kept my review rating at 3 Circles. We haven't given up on Casa Juarez as a future dining spot, and as I reported in my original review: "If you're looking for a very colorful & lively place to enjoy a drink and some spirited conversation with friends & family, Casa Juarez is definitely worth a visit."

We got there around 5 o’clock on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately. We received your chips and salsa right away. The chips are very standard chips except that they were curlier than most. I’d like them curlier because they hold more salsa. Salsa had a little bit of a spice to it and was dark and had a pretty good smoky flavor to it Our server came to get a drink water in a fair amount of time. The drinks arrived right away. It took a while for our server to come and take her order and was not great. My wife ordered a quesadilla, and it apparently wasn’t a dinner and we were not told that. She got just one quesadilla. I ordered a chimichanga supreme, and it had a very very good flavor. I thought that the portions were very small for the prices.

I used to love this place. Last two visits, I've ended up doubling over with cramps and making urgent trips to the bathroom. I thought the first time was a fluke, but the second one has me convinced they've changed something in their recipes that my system does not agree with. Prices have went up but food quality has went down.

We were sitting towards the end of the bar talking to the bartender that’s Colombian when a roach came running across the bar. Not a gnat, not some typical insect but a full grown roach. They did nothing to accommodate us besides asking us did we want to move…NO!. It’s the fact she still brought our food out after seeing that. My family packaged their food and took it because they were trying to be considerate. I simply asked them to take my food back and to remove it from the bill because I was not going to eat there after seeing that. Overall the waitress was really nice and apologetic!

Bland, greasy food.. Extremely slow service

My friend and I visited this restaurant in the afternoon and were the only guests. It took over 35 minutes for our food to arrive. The tortilla chips were unusually thick, burnt, and soaked with grease. Their barria tacos are made with a hard shell and the dipping sauce tasted like it was left over from days prior. I ordered Chiles Rellenos. The poblano pepper was almost raw and the beef filling had no flavor. After our food was served, the waitress didn't come back for at least a half hour. Even though we were the only patrons, we were stuck waiting 40 minutes to pay so we could finally leave. I had driven by this restaurant many times and really wanted to like this place... the interior decor was cute, but food and service was sadly disappointing.

Perfect Everytime!

We have been going to Casa Juarez about once a week for the past year and have not been disappointed yet. My wife always gets the fajita chicken taco salad and I always try something different trying to find something I do not love. All the street tacos are amazing and you get 4 fully loaded instead of the 3 most places serve. Burritos, chimichanga, combos, and even wonderful bbq from a Mexican joint! Tons of outdoor shaded seating when the weather is nice in St. Louis (8 days a year). Gotta give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

Full of Flavor

Large , clean, colorful and comfortable restaurants with nice large patio area, full bar , family and large group friendly and they have lunch specials and delicious drinks. Chips are always served hot and salsa has just the right amount of spice. The Chimi Supreme was full of steak and cheese and served over grilled peppers and onions with more cheese with a side of rice and beans. Husband had Grilled Shrimp and veggies over rice and enjoyed all of it. Margaritas were tasty and a great addition to the meal.

terrible service, serves have your food, charges full price

this place is a total train wreck. worse service I've had that I can remember. served half my food and when I complained they said they are changing their menu, so it no longer comes with the additional sides. Well - don't make your problem, my problem. Either change the menu or serve what you are advertising. And then they charged me full price and put the gratuity on the bill. So they even rewarded themselves for crappy service. I will never return!!! And will tell everyone I know about this place, and blast it across social media.

On the positive side they do have an extensive menu to choose from. You have to scan their menu to your phone. I ordered the chili relleno combination that came with rice and beans for $12 and also an iced tea. Chips and salsa were brought to the table. My drink and food order came out quickly. No sweetener for the tea and no server to be found. The meal was good albeit the chili relleno was a bit watery. Waited again for awhile to get my tea refilled. Finished my meal and my check was brought out. The combination meal listed $1 extra for each chili relleno I had(2). I pulled the menu back up and no mention of an upcharge for this so I asked the waiter who brought it to the manager. When the server returned I was told the price had changed. Expressed my displeasure as it could be changed online easily. Gave him my credit card and asked for change for$20. He came back with 4 $5 Bill's. I said I needed some ones and he said they didn't have any. WTH. Told him that was unbelievable and left a bare minimum tip on my card. This place is not worth the hassle.

Great Food & Service

Great Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere food, service & prices were outstanding. Our server, Jose, did a great job. The food was served piping hot and quickly even though the restaurant was full and it was Friday night! We had queso, the tostada nachos with chicken and also Arroz Con Queso. Both were good and for a little kick we added Cholula. The salsa was a nice flavor and not too spicy.

Bland, blah, and bleh

To say it was awful would wrongly suggest there was enough flavor to comment upon. We were suspicious when the complimentary chips and salsa were inedible - no compliments deserved for salsa with the consistency and taste of watered down sweet ketchup, or the thick 'cardboard' chips. I ordered the shrimp and crab enchiladas because they were described as having a spicy cheese sauce - not true! I think the white sauce was a paste of plain flour and water; no seasoning and definitely no cheese. My husband's veggie fajita platter arrived sizzling and attractive .... but flavorless. This was really odd since there was a copiuous amount of brown sauce which was sticky and sweet, so how could there have been absolutely no taste??? When the server asked whether we were enjoying our meal, we told him "No" and why; he simply walked away without comment then or later.

Very festive atmosphere good service. We have been going to this restaurant when it was Chiuahuas and they really have consistantly good food and it never takes long to get your food.I suggest you try one of thier menu items that is not the norm for most people. But thier Allhambre street tacos are the best. If the parking lot is full dont worry it is very big inside

Curb side takeout?

We usually love our casa takeout. Today we had issues with where to park and no one answering the phones. We called out to a server in the parking lot to find they changed the process. No problem. Once we got the order and headed home, realized they forgot the tortillas for our fajitas. We returned only to have the owner say she is not responsible. Yikes.

Stay away from the shredded beef.

The shredded beef in the 4 Taco dish smelled bad and tasted even worse. After the first bite, I had to scrape-out the meat. The $10.50 margarita tasted very watered down. My wife ordered the Wet Burrito, and it was excellent, as usual. The Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was busy.
