We just had one of the best diners in a very long time. We got there during happy hour and they had a special menu. Cheaper prices on the onion rings (a must so good) and toasted rav (yeah just as good as the rings)....Wife got the petite prime rib( not petite at all, wow great size), I got the kabobs and let me tell you, the seasoning was spot on and the cook perfect oh and melts in your mouth, amazing. We also got salads, very good, and to top it off the the chocolate gooey cake thingy with was delicious. We just happen to be staying over night here in Macon and decided to give them a try, its worth the two hour and half drive from the house alone. Give this place a try, you will love it.More

A bit on the pricey side. Food is awesome, especially the onion rings and fried lobster bite$$$. Steak was very good, prime rib was a little chewy.

Great steaks, shrimp, and lobster. Also wonderful cheesecake, onion rings and salad dressing. Nice variety of salad dressing, sandwiches, and desserts.

Still the same great food but renamed The Pear Tree after the original restaurant in nearby Bevier. Had my favorites—Tenderloin, Onion Rings and salad. Servers wore masks and gloves and tables were well spaced.

Four of us went to AJ’s for lunch last week. Atmosphere was nice and casual. Our server did a great job. The girls had salads which looked great and came with homemade dressing. The guys had prime rib sandwiches. They were fantastic.

We ate an early dinner here at the recommendation of a friend and enjoyed it. We weren’t blown away by anything, but enjoyed our onion rings, chicken Alfredo, salads and pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. I think we’d order different things next time, but what...we had was good. House salad dressing and croutons were great. I couldn’t stand the Caesar—anchovies in dressing maybe-ugh. I didn’t care for the fries, but others might. Looked like they had a great menu, many options. We got one item off the 2-5 earlybird menu and that was nice—chicken Alfredo with salad side and little dessert (we choose homemade ice cream with raspberry sauce). Service was great, portions big, prices reasonable. We’ll be back on other drives from KC to Hannibal, but try other items.More

We were out for a drive and ended up on Macon so we decided to stop at AJ's for lunch. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and our waitress was excellent! can't wait to go back

One of the best small town restaurant experiences that I’ve ever had. Other than their branding issue - they are known as both AJ’s as well as The Pear Tree - which caused me confusion when arriving at the restaurant, this place is fabulous. Their...salad and homemade croutons are extraordinary, and their tenderloin sandwich is better than places that specialize in them. My server Audrey was friendly, attentive and professional, and added to the experience. If you are anywhere around Macon at mealtime, it would be a mistake not to stop in.More

As we travel we like to find local places to eat. Finding the Pear Tree was Like finding a diamond in the rough. From the exterior you would have no idea that food is as awesome as it is. But the interior is very nice....We started with their onion rings, which they are well known for. The breaded tenderloin and salad entrees were plentiful and delicious. Will definitely stop again when going through Macon.More
