Cold molasses moved faster than our waitress. Hostess was pleasant. Although when I informed her there was no soap in the men’s restroom she said she would tell somebody. 45 minutes later after my meal I went to use the Men’s restroom, once again there...was no soap. There is a sign in the bathroom that states employees must wash hands before returning to work. How can they do that when there’s no soap. Guacamole was great. The older gentleman who brought us our chips and salsa was fantastic. He always moved like he had a purpose. And he always had a smile on his face I wish he was our waiter.More

Oddly, most restaurants on the plaza close at 8pm on weeknights so we found this gem. I will say the area at night seemed a little sus. However, the food was delish. The fajitas were solid and the kids meals were very good. It was...very fairly priced as well. It was loud though.More

Omg. I had the chicken enchilada with molé sauce and I can’t stop thinking about it. It is so flavorful. Margaritas were strong; I needed another lime to tone it down. Chips are just okay but salsa is super yummy.

No matter what you order it's going to be good. I've had many different dishes and they have always been excellent. Service is always very great, and you Must try a margarita. One of my favorite places when I'm in KC.

Our party of six got all their faves...mole enchiladas, ranchero steak, bean burrito, tacos and more... Homemade hot sauces not too hot...Large selection of drinks, beers--domestic and imported. Guacamole with tomatoes was quite fresh. Service a bit slow, but attentive on a Saturday night... give...it a try!More

Finally got to try El Patron and was not disappointed. The service was friendly and responsive. The food was good. The salsa was great. The margaritas were strong, in a good way. I’ll definitely be back.

We decided to try this place because Ponak’s was extremely busy. The chips were good. Salsa was okay, but a bit runny. The food was average and only lukewarm upon being served. Service was fine up until we were ready to pay. We had to...wait about 10 minutes to receive our check. I’m always puzzled when this happens. Don’t restaurants like to turn their tables quickly? El Patron wasn’t horrible, but also wasn’t great. There’s better Mexican food on the Boulevard.More

This is a unique place. First time visiting. Showed up around 5 pm on a Friday and got a seat right away (fyi - parking is terrible.....). We were surprised at how small the restaurant was. Well, that was until we starting talking to our...waiter and he explained there was an upstairs part as well. Made more sense..... Cheese dip and guac were ok. Saw the guac on the 'sides' menu, but when getting the bill, we were charged for the full appetizer price. Also had someone else's food added to ours as well. They did fix that. Beer only in bottles..... Got the fried taco and it was pretty dang good. Liked the pico on top! Even let them know it was a great taco. Went upstairs after dinner to check out the upper portion of the restaurant. Liked the outside seating that would be great in warmer weather. We talked about going back to do that this summer. Generally, the menu was a little more pricey than we expected and didn't see an a-la-carte offering either.More

3 of us stopped by for lunch at my favorite place. But it was Very Disappointing to say the least! It was 2:10pm. The hostess finally seated us after she walk around the place on the phone. She seated us and said they would be...right with us. We looked for the lunch menu she said it was 2:10. We said you can't give us that courtesy for coming to my favorite place. She said NO! So I told my family let's go somewhere else.... She would rather let a 50.00 lunch walk out the front door than give us that 10 minutes. I will have to find a New Favorite Mexican Place! Good Luck!!!More

Not impressed with any part of our dining experience. The service was sporadic, not especially friendly and we had to wait longer than we should have and then call someone over to refill chips and drinks. The mild salsa was little more than ketchup, the...fish tacos (denoted with a star on the menu as one of their signature dishes) tasted very fishy and the side of rice was tasteless. The taco salad was generous in portion size, but only adequate in flavor. The men’s restroom was dirty and had the feel of one found in a college bar. No need to try again.More

Was in town for a Seminar and are group stumbled across this restaurant, The service was great! the taco's were phenomenal, and with are party of 5 we tried all the options and everyone gave two thumbs up! Now for the most important criteria The...Margarita's were the bomb and I do not say that lightly as I am a Margarita snob and will not repeat my patronage if the Margarita is not up to snuff! I will be back next time I am in KC!More

I’m in the industry back home in England- if I was to roll my eyes, huff, not smile and glare at my customers the way our server did with us my job would be in jeopardy because service is such an essential part of hospitality!...She was smart enough to smile at and positively interact with the 1 who was paying for the bill (who had her back to her awful service manners the majority of the time) I can tell you know she most definitely did not deserve the 20% service that was left.... I have only ever not left a service charge once and if it had of been up to me, this would have been my second! I’m not going to name and shame- but Im sure she will know this is about her if she sees it! (Everyone has there bad days- chin up & smile!! And smile at all of your tables- it’s not like we couldn’t see you giving the friendly service you obviously can provide!!!) FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! Every single dish was enjoyed by everyone!!!! The food definitely was not the problem! But for me the service is just as important!More
