This wasn’t on our radar but we were going to the Arabia Museum and wanted to eat close. Glad we did. These 2 employees worked their butts off. The 2 of them tag teamed waiting tables, taking orders, bussing the tables, etc. they were attentive and did an outstanding job. As evidenced by our food, those in the kitchen did the same. Definitely will be back when in the area.

EXCELLENT Breakfast Place

If you are looking for fancy with tablecloths petite portions of gourmet food you need to stay away from the City Diner. If you are looking for hearty portions of tasty home style food this is YOUR PLACE. Not only is the food excellent the friendly fast service is absolutely TOP NOTCH!!!! I was traveling through KC on business that took me near here in the future I will drive out of my way to stop here for breakfast.

Delicious breakfast!!

Delicious breakfast!! Great service! Great prices! I ordered the big breakfast, which was recommended by the staff. This was the half order portion!! There is a sausage patty, hash browns, eggs, biscuit all covered in sausage gravy. Lots of food!!

Great Breakfast and Service

we wanted breakfast prior to a meeting downtown and figured we would try this diner out since it had good reviews. the omelette i had (meat lovers) was excellent and the hash browns were very good. great service and reasonable prices

Been here before and loved it, however

Well my husband and I have eaten here before and really have enjoyed it, however, lately they have been opening late and closing early. Sadly, due to these issues we won't be going back to give them another chance. If you are going between 7am and 1pm you should be fine.

Great traditional breakfast!

The service was great and prompt! The food was very good, biscuits, gravy, sausage all good, the hash browns where done to a good crisp. Suggest the Big Biscuit, and the half order was plenty. If you are hungry get the whole order but expect a lot of food! I think our servers name was Deanna, she did an outstanding job!

Old Fashioned Diner

We like Old Fashioned living in a house built in 1898. Perhaps because we are “relatively young”🤔 Parking is limited but the food is near perfect. Okay, the biscuit was a little underbaked but you will not notice if you ask for lots of gravy. Bacon was just right, NOT undercooked.

I love diners

Nothing fancy here, just your basic diner with friendly service, good food, and reasonable prices. So...what more do you need to know? Beware it is a popular spot especially when the City Market next door is busy. Parking can be tight but the KC street car stops just round the corner.

A handy location to eat, easy to find and park, very COVID conscious, good to see. Fast and friendly service, food was no frills, but good stuff, worth our shopping spree lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Hard to believe they can pass a health inspection

Fifteen years ago, when we lived at Crown Center, we were regulars at the Diner. Once a week, three times a month maybe. And though it was nothing special, it was a reliable breakfast/lunch joint with friendly folks and decent prices. So last week, we went back for the first time since then. I would be shocked to find out they've cleaned the place since we were last there more than a decade ago. It was gross. The walls and floor are covered in stains. The windows are so nasty there's no telling when was the last time anyone wiped them down. It is disgusting. I would have thought the covid shutdowns would have given them plenty of time to do a deep clean, but there's no evidence of that. So anyway.... With images of all the creatures roaming around the kitchen locked into my mind (if the eating area looks like it does, what must the kitchen be like?), I couldn't bring myself to have anything but toast. It was not even warm. Debbie's pancakes were fine, but unremarkable. This is two straight breakfast joints we've struck out at. But there are a score or more of really good ones around. No need to go back here.

Great Breakfast!

Obviously a place frequented by locals and easy to see why. Cozy, quaint, with super-cordial staff and excellent food! I had the hamburger steak and eggs and it was excellent -- juicy and flavorful!

Food took forever. There

Food took forever. There were on 9 people in the place. Food was just ok and definitely over priced. Counter still had coffee stains on it from the last customer. Very disappointing
