We have made 2 trips to Grunauer. The first by chance, the second planned. Grunauer is in KC and we live in Nebraska 4 hours away. It is worth the drive! I had the liver pictured and it was to die for!
We loved the food and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. We ate upstairs and flt like we were in a large lodge. The beer and the amount of options was superb. I would rate it 5 stars except the desserts we ordered were horrible....More
This restaurant in the freight house district has delicious food, and the service is unpretentiously good. We had a group of 15, all on separate tickets, and our server went above and beyond, I wish I remembered his name. Somehow he managed to hear our...More
Went with another couple to celebrate a birthday, and was not disappointed whatsoever. The food was truly real Vienna (having visited there over ten times). The only thing missing was there were no Gosser bier!!!
This is a solid Germanic eating establishment, with authentic German and Austrian dishes and lots of choices for beer. My one complaint is that the cuisine is very traditional without much effort to be innovative. One can find some very creative new approaches to German...More
The restaurant was beautiful with huge wooden ceilings and brick walls. The meal was acceptable. High priced for Jager Schnitzel with a side of red cabbage. The red cabbage was inedible as it had way too much nutmeg or cinnamon. I paid $5.00 for a...More
Tried this German eatery for the first time. Restaurant was dark inside, but pleasant. Waitress was curteous. I had two sausages with saeurkraut. The regular sausage was kind of bland, but the spicy was good. Star of the show was the kraut! It was almost...More

This is the real deal for authentic European food. I left Germany 30 years ago. I've eaten at various German restaurants since then but nothing has compared until now. Right down to the bread. This place is fabulous.
I had the wiener schnitzel and spaetzle....More

I would say in evening hours, it is primarily an adult atmosphere. I can't say that in the number of times we've been there in the evening that we've seen any small children. However, at lunch time, especially on weekends, I think things are more casual & we have seen small children there a few times at lunch on Saturday, which were not an issue with anyone, as far as I could tell. Enjoy your visit!
