So one of the guys in our group had never experienced German food. He I trusted me to order for him the sauerbraten pork with red cabbage and potato dumpling. We finished off with a slice of apple strudel that was topped with fresh cream. You opened this man's horizons.

In a town filled with various iterations of glorified "bar food" (spinach artichoke dips, chicken wings, sliders, etc.), Grunauer is a pleasant surprise for the palate. Unusual food combinations and exquisite preparation and presentation can change a person's attitude about food. I'm usually embarrassed because I make an orgasmic face and yummy noises with every bite!

The only place to find Viennese food of this quality is in Vienna. Add charming ambience, friendly service, and an accessible location and you have the perfect combination for a delightful evening. Wow! We have visited Austria and Germany frequently and the Grünauer menu listed all of our favorite dishes. We wanted one of everything but had to settle for... More

This is the best German Food I have found in Missouri. It was authentic, delicious and well portioned. It was a bit on the pricey side but we really enjoyed it. Great place for a date.

I am sure they would appreciate it if I would eat something other than sausage when I visit, but I don't. If I ate more German food, maybe I would. Nice ambiance, attentive service. Definitely worth trying if you haven't.

My husband lived in Germany and he said the Jager schnitzel here is the best he's had inside the United States. Two thumbs up

What passes for "German food" is far too frequently terrible boiled sausages and sauerkraut piled high next to watery beer. Silly posters and decorations do not a German restaurant make. The beer selection here is legit, and the food is both authentic and delicious. Worth your time.

It's a little tricky to get into because of construction, one-way streets, and traffic. However, it's well worth the effort. The food was awesome, the service was great, and the building was very cool. If you want great food in K.C., other than BBQ, this is a must.

You'd better like vinegar and cabbage and pork and beer to eat here. We only went because surrounding restaurants were totally booked. Not many choices for folks who don't care for German style of cooking, and the wine list was minimal. I can't hold that against them, but do object to our meals being brought out several minutes apart (and... More

Happened on Grunauer by chance while sightseeing downtown Kansas City. Excellent lunch in their lovely dining room; would have enjoyed the outdoor patio but a bit chilly that day. Superb selection of beers, well rounded lunch menu and enjoyed all our choices (pork schnitzel, schweinbraten, goulasch, even the hamburger for one picky eater; loved potato cucumber salad and dense bread)....
