The "Jazz" kitchen restaurant is a great place for Cajun food, in my opinion. It's as authentic as some popular Cajun food places in KC. The one close to KUMC hospital is a rather small place but during the Lunch time I've not seen anyone waiting for a place to sit. Great atmosphere, great "Cajun" decorations on the walls and... Went for a quiet dinner date here recently. I wish I had come sooner. I really enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Plus some live jazz pleased me to no end. Will go again with another beautiful lady.

When I travel to Kansas City, I like to set 1 meal aside to come here. I've been eating here for close to 25 years without ever having a bad meal. Point to anything on the menu, and you can't go wrong. Save room for dessert, the beignets are worth a trip themselves.

What a place! Watch the portions as they're not what I am used to in the UK. Food excellent, only reason not to give it five out of five is 2 mistakes on our bill so (obviously), check your bill before paying.

Looked this up as next to where I was staying was virtually all fast food and homey don't eat that. This is a little dive joint that will remind you of places in New Orleans (which is what they are trying to accomplish). Our server was very good/nice/knowledgeable. I had an oyster po boy that was ok (certainly not New... More

We ate here before an afternoon Royals game. It has a fun atmosphere, good prices, and large menu. Everyone liked what they ordered.

Nice place to gather with friends. The food and bar are great. Lively atmosphere that is energetic with good service.

I am a huge fan of Louisiana and it's amazing food, music and culture...maybe that's why I have always been consistently disappointed with this place. I had not been in 10 years or more-because it was just not good. A buddy talked me into going and thought I would give it another chance. I like the dive bar atmosphere, live... More

The best Cajun In New Orleans or any Louisiana restaurant is Jambalaya and Gumbo. Unfortunately this place only had a very, very poor Jambalaya side dish and I didn't see Gumbo anywhere on the menu. The main meals were good but not real Cajun cooking. I would not go back to this restaurant for Cajun food.

A lot of character and characters abound. Worth a wait if needed and never a bad meal. Just drinks is a good idea as well.
