I didn't think another local Italian restaurant (which I prefer not to name) that I've loved for over 20 years could be outdone, but Carmen's wins big with me. Their mussels were cooked to perfection as they melted in your mouth. The stuffed shrimp/crab artichoke was the best I've ever had. The chicken spiedini Beatriz was out of this world... More

It's been several years since we've eaten here and I remember it being much better that this experience. I had the Veal Oscar which was just ok. The veal slices were paper thin and had very little flavor. As it was , the Alfredo sauce overpowered everything with its excessive garlic. The fettucine was served naked, not a drop of... More

My husband chose to come here for his birthday--wanted to try a restaurant that we have not been to yet. We are not likely to return. Everything--atmosphere, food, service was just OK. The bread seemed like bread from the grocery. It was not served warm. The house salad was not appealing. I couldn't finish mine and I normally enjoy salad.... More

We decided to pop into Carmen's Café after walking around the Brookside Art Festival. It turned out to be a 'fine dining' Italian restaurant. We felt a little under dressed for the atmosphere but realized no one else was dressed any nicer. Our food was good but not great. They even charged if you wanted olive oil and herbs with... More

Our reservation was ready for the 5 of us when we arrived. The table was perfect. Plenty of room, yet close enough to chat with each other. From the moment we sat down our waiter took care of us as if we were the only people eating in the world. Top notch service all around. Sunday is 1/2 price wine... More

My husband and I visited Carmen's Cafe on a Saturday night. In spite of the mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try. We were seated prompty, the ambience was nice, although the lighting was poor- being over 40, I had difficulty reading the menu. The service was decent, and remained so throughout our visit. They brought out the... More

The name is Spanish, yet its tapas are an amazing misrepresentation of the real thing misspellings and all. The bulk of the menu is what it passes for Italian in this parts of the country and the misspellings in the menu remain in this theme too. The food is not well prepared and the ambiance is somewhat dismal, not enhanced... More

We had a group of 12 on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We got seated a couple minutes after reservation time, big table upstairs. Service was great start to finish and they allowed us to do separate checks for each couple. The food is really good, lots of variety of different Italian dishes. Portions are more than enough, plus with... More
