I decided to give this Mongolian place a try. I arrived around 5:30 pm and the place was very empty. The staff was very friendly and I was seated immediately. Bradley set me up for the Buffett and it was very good. There were plenty of meat and seafood option, along with a great assortment of noodles. All items looked fresh, and all were well stocked. The cook did an excellent job and looked liked he actually enjoyed what he was doing. He was friendly, neat, and did a great job. Along with the buffet there are appetizers that were also top-notch. The food was very reasonable for the price. By the time I left (after about and hour) the place had stated to fill up and still had a great atmosphere. Bonus is that they served Pepsi products and took the AMEX card.

The concept is clear: standard Mongolian barbecue, where you select your ingredients, sauces, and seasonings, and a cook quickly cooks them on a flat top grill. The execution is for COVID: instead of actually assembling your bowl of food to cook and handing it to the cook, you check off boxes on a form to make your choices and the staff handles the rest. You lose a bit of the fun with this method, but it’s what we need to do.
The food here is tasty, if you pick the right combination of ingredients. They do offer suggestions, especially for sauces and seasonings, so you’re not totally on your own.
If you’ve never tried it, do so.
The service when we visited was slow, but they were clearly understaffed. We asked and were told that some servers had not shown up for work,

The spice selection is what i consider to be important since you get to create your own custom tasting dish at Mongolian BBQ. I have tried many in the area and I always come back to this location. Food is great, staff are great! Atmosphere is great. And last but not least prices are reasonable!

Food was okay but the part that got my husband and I was that we got ripped off. We were given updated menus and ONLY updated menus to order our food. The updated menus had price increases because of food shortages (totally understandable). However, we only had this updated menu. My husband decided to get an unlimited all meat and seafood plate, while I just decided to go with 1 plate (not unlimited). It included soup and a crab Rangoon so I was filled up.
When we got our check, we were charged for two unlimited plates instead of the one unlimited plate and a max 1 plate. When my husband and brought this up, he was told that the menu stated that purchasing only one plate was only available during Mon-Thurs. This was not stated on our new menu that we received. Where did it say this? On the old menu that we did not receive.
Instead of management saying that it was their fault that they’re forgot to add this important aspect to their updated menu,THE OWNER said “you can’t pay an extra three dollars, then don’t come here. Don’t come to eat if you can’t afford the food.”
That was besides to point. The point was that I was charged extra for something I didn’t pay for. If I was planning on eating more than one plate, then I would have gladly paid extra. However, I did not pay for extra. Yet I was charged.
The owner took absolutely no responsibility and placed the blame on her customers. Please don’t go here, make the drive to another Mongolian grill.
And just another thing to add on, they forgot to give my husband the desert that was included in his meal.
Updated menu below. You will noticed that there is no mention of any menu items being available only Mon-Thurs.

Hard to believe that I offered up the last TA review of this restaurant back in 2021. We came back last night, since our first choice of Rudy's in the general area of KC had a 30 minute wait for good Tex-Mex.
The main thing that changed here was they lost their side lot off the street parking to a new construction site. They did not have many customers and there were issues we experienced, probably mostly due to a lack of staff (i.e. did not bring all of our choices soups, did not bring the rice I asked for when ordering our soups and appetizers, did not refill our soft drinks and their raw food tables were a bit messy plus the meats were a big frozen lump that you chipped away at, etc.) My AUCE bar with seafood set me back $24. I passed on their little cubes of assorted deserts. We may not go back or at least until they have more parking.

My family & I first learned of this place in 1993 and became “frequent flyers” until my retirement from the Navy in 1999. Never a bad meal, always great food at an outstanding price, even with the whole family. Always left for home (VA Beach) happily satisfied.
Relocated to Pittsburgh, PA at retirement but usually make an annual trip to Norfolk each April for the Memorial Service at NOB, Ghingis Khan is always on the “must do” list while in town, and again and again, never failing to both satisfy the urge but to bring back very fond memories.
Yes, some things never change, they don’t need to when you’ve done it right for so long.
Will be returning this year also.

The best part is building your own bowl, choosing from a variety of fresh vegetables, meats, noodles, and sauces, then watching as the chefs grill it right in front of you. The flavors are always great, and the ability to customize your meal means you can try something different every time. It’s a casual, laid-back spot perfect for groups or family dinners, offering a unique twist on stir-fry that’s both satisfying and delicious.

This was our first time back to Genghis Khan Mongolian Grill since b4 covid but we don't live in KC. A few things have changed but overall we thought they offer a nice experience with very good grilling choices and some variety to their AUCE BBQ done Mongolian style flash cooked on a huge steel disk. Generally we felt they are fairly priced too.

We were skeptical with the Covid outbreak but this restaurant does things right! You choose what you want from your table and they prepare and bring it to you. All employees had masks on and were wearing them correctly and seating was appropriately spaced out. As always the food was great. It's a bit of a drive for us but well worth it. Great job, Genghis Khan!

We were getting together with friends & it has been a while since we were here, so I thought it was a perfect choice.
You pick all the veggies & meats you want. Then add your combination of sauces to make it your own creation. Great place for dinner.
Our server was great. She came by several times to refill drinks & see if all was ok. She was friendly & engaging in conversation. Her name is Valerie & we had her as our server last time. Lucky to have her again. Price is good, as you can go back for more.

This is a staple for us. We love being able to pick all our own ingredients for our meal, along with making your sauce. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious, and there are a lot of choices. You can add an egg at the end, and they have sesame seed shakers too, plus you can grab a pair of chopsticks at the grill before taking the plate back to your table.
The food is always cooked fully and tastes great (well unless of course it doesn't which means it was probably your own fault for what you put into it).
They also offer a few appetizers and desserts on a separate area with crab rangoons, chicken wings, fruit, and little brownie and lemon square bites.
The grill meals include soup and white rice, you just have to ask. They also offer teas and other beverages.
Service has always been good. You will always leave as full as you want since you can get multiple plates. They do charge a little bit more if you use seafood, and a little less if you get no meat (they put the cooked meal on different style plates so your server knows what to bill you for).
My family loves going here as you can eat pretty healthy with delicious food.

Had not been here in awhile but food tasted exactly like I remember which was great. Better than chain Mongolian restaurants. Worth it just for the appetizers. Not fast and I question cross contamination, but very reasonable.

I have to admit it has been awhile since I have been to Genghis Khan. It is usually a place we come to with a large group of friends. We were visiting KU Medical and I took my sales rep to this place. Since it has been awhile, I noticed that they had made some changes, I saw high rise communal tables that I don't recall seeing before and they reorganized the food area for the Mongolian BBQ. The food and service has consistently been solid. This visit was no exception. My sales rep had never done the Mongolian BBQ, but she enjoyed it tremendously. For those not familiar with the concept. You select the food (veggies, meats, and sauce) you want for your BBQ then cooks take your food and cook it on a large round metal grill and returns it to customer after it is cooked.
I think it is time to call my group of friends and get back to Genghis Khan!

We were visiting Kansas City with extended family and this place was an old favorite of theirs. We joined them there for dinner and had a great evening. I loved creating my own dish and took delight in mixing my own sauces. The food was fresh and the cooks did a good job of cooking it to exactly the right minute. The wait staff was pleasant and did not rush us. We had a grand evening - good food, great company and thematic surroundings that added a nice touch to the evening.
