We recently dined at Jaspers for lunch. We asked for a spot in the restaurant where we could have quiet conversation. The hostess seated us in a booth. There were plexiglass partitions between booths for COVID safety.
My guest had the sole special. I had the salmon special. Each was $17.95 and included salads and sliced potatoes grilled in onions. Our server, Kyle, was very attentive and professional. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. There was a large variety of dessert options, but we decided not to indulge.
The restaurant closes at 2pm, but keeps the bar open well beyond that. We were enjoying our conversation so much that we wanted to stay and visit. Kyle and the management at Jaspers were very accommodating, as we stayed two more hours. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and had a wonderful time chatting.
I recommend Jaspers to anyone seeking a nice upscale meal where the service is excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming.

I celebrated my 21st birthday at Jaspers with my family and it was the most amazing dinner ever. The food was delicious and beyond worth the price. I love the welcoming environment they have as well as their service. The server, Mel, was extremely attentive and so caring in us having a great dinner from the appetizer to dessert. Pictured are the entrees: Scampi Alla Livornese with angel hair, Linguini Alla San Remo, Eggplant Parmesan.

For my daughter's 21st birthday we went to Jasper's. There was 10 of us total. I had the Scampi Alla Livornese with angel hair pasta. The shrimp were cooked perfect and the sauce coates the pasta just right. Flavorful and delicious! My husband loves their veal parmigiana and eggplant parmigiana. So flavorful and cooked to perfection. My daughter's favorite is the Linguini Alla San Remo without the calamari and not spicy. There was a great portion of seafood to pasta ratio. I have tried each one of these dishes and can tell you they are authentic Italian dishes. The portions are huge!! The calamari is battered and fried perfectly. The sauce is just like my husband's Italian grandmother use to make. Actually it's better. The dinner salads are fresh and dressed properly. Love the option blue cheese crumbs to the salad. The desserts are to die for. My favorite is the chocolate cake made with mayonnaise. It's so moist and decadent. My daughter loves the tartufo al cuccilto. Vanilla bean ice cream covered in chocolate biscotti cookies with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Great selection of wines and spirits. My husband loves their bloody mary's. From the time we walked in to the restaurant to the time we left everyone was very attentive and professional. Our waitress Mel was awesome. The atmosphere was perfect and everyone followed the protocols with mask and cleaning. Definitely going back!

Slow service, mediocre food, awful Caesar salad that we didn't find out until after the fact that it wasn't included with the mediocre entree and charged us $8.00 for it. Overpriced, pretentious, and misleading. The icing on the cake was when the server informed us that under no circumstances could he split our checks up with a party of six. The last thing you want to do after a meal at a restaurant is sit there for half an hour figuring out the check, especially when we'd been there for two hours and a couple of people had to leave early. When I brought it to the owner's attention, he childishly stormed off into the kitchen with a huff after giving me an earful about how he couldn't deal with me when I had simply brought these things to his attention. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Just because you've been doing something for "70 years" the same way, doesn't mean you should be doing it the same way 70 years later. Either get into the 21st century and treat your customers with respect, or get out of the business. I can't believe all the good reviews this dump is getting. We will NEVER be back.

great food as always..but portions on curbside takeout vary. Tonight smaller container. smaller portions...no extra rolls as requested. nice staff..delicious food. But for 50 bucks...seems to vary based on chef filling order?

I took my daughter and the rest of our family out for dinner. We had come in from out of town and we're looking forward to a good Italian meal. I could have not been more wrong. The owner was greeting people as they came in. He should have been in the back cooking or supervising. It was terrible. The waiter took our order probably and all of us ordered the lobster bisque as an appetizer. The lobster bisque was good and it went downhill from there on. The waiter did not ask if we wanted to order la carte. He just stated what kind of salad do you want and did not tell as it was extra. Two of us ordered Caesar salad and two of us ordered regular salad. The Caesar salad was nothing to brag about and was $12 each. He never told us that a salad was extra. It was certainly not worth $12. All four of us ordered something different for a main course. We all tasted each other's order and simultaneously stayed in how horrible it was. The orders ranged from View to a seafood dish. All four meals were a total disappointment and lack flavor or originality. My Seafood dish was overcooked and rubbery. Probably the worst I've ever had. My wife's veal was Bland and overcooked. The other two dishes ordered by my daughters were flat and without taste. A can of Chef Boyardee would have tasted better than anything we got on the menu. The price of a male was horrendous for what we were served. For four of us the bill was over $300. I haven't spent that on meals before but never regretted it. Do yourself a favor and don't bother going here.

Two colleagues and I ate dinner at Jaspers while visiting Kansas City for a conference. One of the local attendees recommended it when we said we were looking for something other than barbecue. We arrived at 5:15 to a nearly empty restaurant. The hostess offered us a table in the bar as all of the tables in the dining room were reserved. The bartender was an attentive waiter. We each orderedan italian specialty- eggplant parmesean, linguini with clam sauce and Pasta San Marino. Portions were large. Meals are accompanied by a roll/ butter and a small house salad. Each of us felt the meals were good. Possibly because the local who recommended Jasper's raved about how delicious the food was, we may have expected more. I felt the meal was expensive for what I recieved and my colleagues agreed.

We were in Overland Park, Kansas, for a medical procedure at University of Kansas hospital in Overland Park. For our supper meal, we decided to eat at Jasper's Italian Restaurant. It was after 5:00 P. M. and did not have a reservation but took a chance. They did not disappoint us, they warmly welcomed us and seated us immediately. Our server was most attentive and try his best to fulfill our every wish. My 10 year old grandson wanted mozzarella sticks and our server explained to him that was not on the menu but had fried ravioli, he loved it.
There were so many dishes to choose from and we finally made up our minds. When our food arrived and I took that first bite, I thought I had died and went to heaven, so delicious. The chef came out of the kitchen to see if everything was okay and of course, we told him it certainly was.
We highly recommend trying this restaurant and even though we are from out-of-town, I definitely will come back.

My only point here is to suggest that you ignore any negatives and form your own opinion about this culinary institution in KC. I took dates there in High School and throughout our now 40 year marriage; had a private party there for a special birthday; we've had lunches, dinners and signed up for cooking classes over the years as well as Jasper's special events. Like I said, go form your own opinion. No business is perfect. But Jasper's (in my opinion) is really the gold standard in KC and not just for the food. It is a family owned business allowing new generations kids to learn and participate in the business. We've gotten to know the owners over the years and frankly feel like some little part of a big family. From the original black tie establishment to the current iteration we've never failed to feel at home, well cared for and very, very well fed. We've eaten all over the country and the world. In fact many places with Jasper's recommendation or even JJ's or Leonard's calls ahead for us. Jasper's stacks up against all we've tried. So, it's a lot more than the food which is wonderful, but for the experience you can have. I think if you go to any restaurant with a chip on your shoulder or fail to communicate your expectations up front you may have a poor experience. Over a lifetime we've always had fine food and very enjoyable experiences there including our most recent this past week. Think how rare this kind of long term experience is getting to be in any city, much less KC. Strongly recommended.

Seriously one of the best experiences we have had in a LONG time. We stumbled upon this place as we were driving through town to go visit family. My husband and I eat out probably too much and my husband has been requested to review local restaurants in our area by google due to the reviews and photos we have posted online in the past. We were so hungry that we forgot to take photos this time but I'm NOT going to miss the opportunity to let everyone know how amazing this place was. We were greeted immediately with a smile when we came in, which is always a nice way to start a dining experience. Our server Thaddeus was super knowledgeable about the menu and was almost "intuitive" as to what we may be interested in. He was amazing throughout the service (ask for him if you make it in, you won't be disappointed)! Which was awesome since we both have dietary restrictions. I had the Lobster Ravioli which was the BEST I have ever had and my husband had the (I know it sounds gross) but the liver and onions. He too said it was the best. The owner came up to see how our meal was and I could not express to him what a great experience it was. Please do not hesitate to try this place. Especially if you like great food and like being treated like family.

This restaurant is one of my all time favorites. The staff, food and atmosphere are sublime. I have had most of the items on the menu over the years and each item is just as amazing as the last. Add in that the owning family and chef are always walking around and chatting with every single table like they are long time friends is even more amazing in todays restaurant world of turning over the tables as fast as you can. I have never felt rushed to eat quickly and I can say without a doubt that I have never had anything but delectably fresh food that would make any little old Italian grandmother say damn that’s better than mine.

Had reservations made and confirmed online through Jaspers website but the reservation was not located by the hostess upon arrival despite me showing the confirmation on my phone. After approximately a 10 minute wait we were seated.
The atmosphere was nice, a little dark.
The courses of the meal are a little too spread out but the food was perfect temperature and very good quality.
Mel, our server was outstanding. She checked in often but not too much, was friendly and very knowledgeable.
Our meals were very good and desserts were perfect.

We ate on Friday night, June 11 right after a rainstorm and the "creek" was flowing so fast it looked like a river! That was an amazing view. The service and food was very good. The place itself seemed a little claustrophobic to me though. Save room for dessert!

From the time we arrived, the service was excellent.
Our server was attentive, efficient, & friendly. She came by often to refill waters & check to see if we needed anything.
We were there with a group of 10, to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a private room pre-arranged.
I had a Caesar salad, which was disappointing. Not much flavor.
I had chicken parm & this was very good, tasty sauce.
For a side I asked for pasta with garlic & oil, instead of red sauce. I get this most of the time when eating at an Italian restaurant. This was not so good. Some places do this well, others do not. This place does not.
My wife had eggplant parm & said it was very good.
Prices are higher than most other Italian restaurants in the city.

After reading the reviews I have found the bad reviews to be totally wrong. My wife and I just returned home from Jasper's and let me tell you, it was great. The staff was excellent and we even met the owner. The menu is quite extensive and took me a bit to decide on a dish. My wife had the Tortellini Romano and I had the Ravioli Di Ricotta with meatballs and Italian sausage added. Both meals were excellent presentation and flavor wise. The serving size was quite generous. For dessert my wife had Cannolis and I had Torta Di Mele which were also very good. With our drinks and all the additions our ticket was $108 which I find reasonable for an upscale restaurant. You WILL need to make a reservation as they are quite busy and fill up fast. I think the only gripe I found to be somewhat true was the carpet does need replaced but who goes to a restaurant to examine the carpet? Definitely going back again!!!
