We attempted to eat here and were sadly disappointed by the terrible service. I will also note that the place was empty on a Saturday night, yet we were still treated poorly. Rude waitstaff and management that offers no solutions but only fakely apologizes. Save...More

We arrived 13 people to a reservation we made far in advance for a party. We were refused service immediately upon arrival. We were attending a reservation for a pre-wedding party (I will note we were on time). There was no reason given other than...More

DO NOT EAT HERE, Had my birthday brunch here and my BFF found a roach stuck to the inside bottom of her cup after drinking her coffee down to almost nothing. When brought to the Manager attention all she could say was it wasn't suppose...More

Horrible service, horrible food for Mother's Day brunch. They even messed up our bill. Only good thing was the dessert.

The Jacobson hosted about 50 of us for a business dinner in the main dining area, and it was fantastic. The food, specifically the filet and salmon, was delicious, and the head of the bar was outstanding. Her personality was hilarious and infectious, and I...More

Our sons wanted to take us somewhere special for our 50th anniversary. Since my husband and I had had 2 excellent lunches there and really liked the atmosphere, we suggested The Jacobson. We knew about the parking and dealt with it accordingly. We had reservations...More

For an out of towner this restaurant is meant to imprint on your brain some features of this region of the country. The service is super friendly (and I mean that in the over-the-top, "why sure it's our pleasure" way). The food is tasty and...More

It was fine. I had high hopes after viewing the menu but was underwhelmed. The food was good but a lot of KC restaurants make great food. Our server wasn’t interested in waiting on us. He sent the bartender over to finish our service. He...More

Description
The Jacobson or just simply “The J” is a cozy yet modern eatery with local seasonal items inspired by the flavors, spices, & cuisines of the Midwest and beyond. The J’s sharable “Mingle” plates along with innovative signature cocktail and flask service provide a unique mix of dining and socializing. Nestled in the historic Crossroads Arts District “The J” is situated in a converted industrial 4,000 square foot warehouse once occupied by A.D Jacobson. Interestingly enough, A.D. Jacobson was the brother of Edward “Eddie” Jacobson. Eddie Jacobson was a business partner and close personal friend of Harry S. Truman. The two owned and operated The Truman and Jacobson Haberdashery together in downtown Kansas City for many years and worked together on many other businesses and political initiatives. As you visit “The J” inside you will notice its simple yet modern décor adorned with art from Kansas City based artists.
