My wife and I went to Affare last night and it was an excellent dinner. The salads were very good especially the smoked spinach salad that is delivered in a quart mason jar on to your plate. They "smoke" the spinach in the jar for a fabulous taste. I had the duck and it consisted of duck four ways. Sliced... More

I reviewed this restaurant before with a title of traditional German food. It has been awhile since we have been here and the menu is now completely different. We called as we were approaching the restaurant because the lot where we normally park seems to be blocked off. There has been a lot of construction in this area of downtown... More

Service was great and so was the ambience but the food left a lot to be desired. Our crawfish vegetable medley was salty and too creamy. Sausages were alright but the duck was too chewy. Presentation was poor. Food was typical midwestern, creamy, large portions, lots of meat, nothing great.

My best friend and I came here for Mother's Day brunch. This wasn't our first choice; however, it was open and they did seat us right away. The parking situation is a little rough. It was raining heavily that day, but as the gods would have it, there was street parking available right outside the entrance. Brunch: Sausage, potatoes, and... More

Business dinner on a hot-hot-hot Tuesday night turned out to be a treat -- and we'll definitely be back for more. Atmosphere in this walk-up former industrial location is spartan but attractive and effective -- you know it's going to be edgy. Menu is limited but widely varied -- certainly not "German food" as one usually thinks of it. Can't... More

The place is beautiful with excellent decor. The menu presents a great selection of foods I haven't found elsewhere in Kansas City. The taste was interesting; we couldn't place what it was but it tasted like curry. An unexpected taste when you're eating steak. Service was very slow and the restaurant had three servers and five occupied tables. Only on... More

All of the food looked and tasted delicious. We went for brunch. The Beignets were our starter. Yum. And we ended with the Apfelstrudel. Also yum. I had the Käsespätzle - be sure you say you don't want the egg if you don't want the egg, even though it shows as the egg is extra on the menu! If I... More

A solid spectacularly fresh menu. This place should be higher on the KC list!! The building of the streetcar KC kept people away from this favorite place but loyal Affare lovers kept it afloat and now it is soaring. Parking in the Crossroads is tough but there is a parking lot on the back side of the block and cut... More

Affare was good, but not excellent. We have never been to Affare so my wife, our niece and I decided to try it for lunch today. I must tell you that parking in that area is quite the challenge. The atmosphere is nice and very contemporary. The soup of the day was a white asparagus soup, which we all ordered,... More
