Ordered an 18” Special, Greek Salad, and Cheesy bread sticks. The sauce is good, the salad was fresh, but the Pizza and Bread Sticks were average; there is nothing special about this pizza. Having spent many hours studying in West Harlem at Koronet Pizza. Being newish to the south KC area, I had hopes that this would help being back memories of college. Sadly, I was left feeling flat, kinda like the overall flavor of this pizza.

Called in the pizza. It was hot, fresh, and delicious at the window in 20 minutes. We got their version of a meat lovers. Loved the New York size slices (18" pizza). So much sausage! Good peperoni. Some ham, but more would keep the sausage from staying on. Plenty of cheese. The owner is a great guy.

I quickly learned that they'll "enhance" (more cheese, additional toppings) on by-the-slice orders which definitely earned them an extra star in my book. Not the best pizza I've had, and the restaurant itself could use a little upkeep, but the staff and owner are friendly, my experience with the pizza has been good, and they are pretty fast and convenient. Definitely my go-to for getting a slice!

New York-style pizza for people who know what good pizza should taste like (Hint: It should not taste like Minsky’s.). Good crust, good sauce. A relief from all the cracker-crust pizza in KC. I used to just get frozen pizza because it was better than what KC had to offer. That is, until we found this place.

I cant for the life of me figure out how they got rated so highly
here. Me and my older boys found their pizza to be the worst we've
had in years: Burnt, leathery, stale, and poor flavor.
Whats even worse was their poor customer service attitudes.
Dont even think of coming here 30 mins before closing
time. You will be treated like a pariah.
I would strongly encourage you to avoid this place!

Just got back from NYC and found this place to keep my New York style pizza craving under control. This place isn't much to look at, but boy, it has good stuff!

This place is rare. Not many old style places around here making new York style pizza. It's always good, not overpriced, and welcoming

It is hard to find NY style pizza in the Kansas City area. Mama Leone's has it You can order pizza by the slice and it is very good and fast. They have some good specials too. You get good pizza at a good price. You can also add a side salad for a reasonable price. The place is clean but is not fancy.

The front counter girl messed up our order. The noodles were swimming in water and V8 juice. The sauce tasted and smelled like straight from the can tomato sauce. There was slime hanging from the tea urn spout. And a small tv way up high shows whatever local game is playing. I like to eat at locally owned and operated non-chain restaurants because sometimes you find a great place, this was not it. Food was not made from fresh, it tasted canned and prepackaged.

OK, I think I am an expert due to living in NY for 25+ years. I have now lived in KC for about 16 years. This is the second place I have found in KC that serves anything close to NY pizza..which I truly miss!! Thank you Mama's!! It saves me the airfare when I get that craving that is hard to shake....

Liked the location and we obviously like Italian food so we have this a try while visiting family. The verdict? Very good pizza! I am from Chicago so I am naturally spoiled. Their sides were plentiful and the sauce on their veggie pizza was great! Good amount for the money. I liked that the crust was the right consistency, not too much of it. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful with their recommendations!

I was skeptical to give this play a try at first. It's in a former Wendy's, and with a name like Mamma Leone's I knew it would be something Italian, but I really wasn't sure what to expect. I decided to give it a try when I heard from someone else that they sold pizza by the slice. That's great for someone like me who lives alone and doesn't need to order a big pizza and end up eating the whole thing. I really like what they've done with the place inside. It has a fast-casual feel to it. It's nothing fancy, but it's nice and clean and there's plenty of room to sit down with friends and watch the soccer game on TV while enjoying pizza, or you can order at the counter and take it to go. I used to live on the east coast, and this really reminds me of some of the New York style pizza and sandwich shops I used to frequent back in that part of the country. They have many different toppings available to order a custom pizza, or they have several at the counter ready to go if you want to order by the slice like I did. I got two huge slices, a side salad (made fresh right in front of you with plenty of toppings to choose from) and a drink for about $10. The pizza I got was great, and they also have stromboli and various italian sandwiches available, which I may try on another visit. The staff is very friendly. This place is locally owned, and they really take time to get to know the customers if you have the time to talk for a bit.
