Victor and his amigos are back and this nueva cocina mexicana is the best yet. The dishes are well prepared traditional fare inspired by a variety of regions (my favorite is coastal especially Yucatan), and beautifully presented. The service is excellent as has always been...our experience in his restaurants. Sure, you can get enchiladas and fajitas but they will not be the same fare you get at the standard Tex-Mex restaurant on every corner. They have locations around the KC metro. Our favorite is on 103rd Street close to 435 on the South side. Delicioso!More

Excellent food at this authentic Mexican restaurant. Try the jalapeño margarita. Delicious. Our waiter was not the best we have had but his tip reflected that.

My wife and I were there at 6:00 on a Friday night and were seated and served right away. The waiter was pleasant and very attentive. We had 2 carne asadas, a plate of tacos, 2 drinks and an appetizer for a total of $80.

Dinner with a friend. Grilled Chili Relleno with rice and beans. Chile Relleno and Rice were both exceptionally flavorful and delicious. Beans were perfunctory. The server was not on her game, was borderline rude, and a complainer/fault finder. She hates her job and wants to...make sure you know it. We will return as the food is terrific. I’ve taken three friends here and all have loved it.More

The owner chose our food and it was amazing! Vegetarian and vegan options. Loved our food and will definitely try again.

My first time at this restaurant; won't be my last. Went there with several other couples for our monthly group dinner. Casual, but very nice. Extensive menu and drinks list. I had one of the specials, a beef medallion dish. It was delicious! Our server...was top notch. Got our orders right and the checks were correct. Not bad for a group of about twenty.More

Vegan friendly. Cris was our server; friendly & indulged is by speaking Spanish! We got to practice. Cauliflower tacos! Vegan burrito & veggie quesadilla. We enjoyed everything. Even has grasshoppers on menu - Oaxaca here in KC.

Casual environment; friendly and efficient service. You can find standard Tex-Mex type dishes here, but the chef has taken several to the next level and incorporated more true Mexican regional dishes done well. Great street tacos and the highlight was the pork shank in a...spicy peanut sauce--literally fell off the bone. Portions are large..come hungry.More

I don’t mean Tex-Mex, and I don’t mean street food. Cacao is the real deal, and if you try it I’ll bet that you will return for more. After just one bite, you know the variety and depth of flavors is the result of fresh...and quality ingredients, prepared by chefs with experience, passion, patience and dedication to the art of cooking. After just one visit you will recognize and appreciate the personal touch, genuine and warm hospitality of the proprietor, Victor, and his devoted staff. Fortunately, we live near this fabulous restaurant at 103rd & State Line in Watts Mill and it is so easy for us to enjoy the really great food at reasonable prices. But, even if it is a little farther for you, the trip will be worth it. On our most recent visit we were served by Blithany, a full time student at a local college. She works so hard to make your experience great, and I encourage you to ask for her. I feasted on the Shrimp A La Diabla (a huge and sumptuous dish with shrimp in a spicy chile sauce, with onions, mushrooms and rice). The menu is large with something for everyone. Expect Victor to drop by your table to ask you what you're in the mood for, then he'll recommend a dish customized to just for your preference and taste. Cacao also has a great Happy Hour from 4-6 everyday, including week ends, featuring a wonderful choice of small plates for $5.00 so you can try several dishes, and great prices on cocktails and beers. Cacao has a pleasant, friendly atmosphere, convenient and ample parking. Just South of the Price Chopper in Watts Mill (in the former Applebee’s).More
