April 12th was my 70th birthday my children invited me out for dinner.. yes it was a nice crowd but waa seated within 10 minutes of our arrival...but it took a long time for someone to take our order for drinks or food overall it...took 2 hours to get the order in...my niece request to speak with manager just to complain about the wait...during his discussion I could tell he had had a few drinks, prior to the discussion a waitress had fallen maybe a seizure and then he became rattled...it took another 30 min to just pay and leave,so manager insisted on adjusting 2 drinks but we did not ask for an adjustment .My son walked to the bar to pay...but I looked up front and they were having words...my son made it back to our table and the manager started screaming across the restaurant making derogatory statements then screaming get out several times that wasn't called for, then called for security when there was no more verbal contact then while leaving he was making a few demeanig comments and racial slurrs, my husband and I have being coming to margaritas for almost 40 years and have never ever experienced anything as such everyone one had always been so courteous nice and professionalMore

I bought Margarita Tortilla chips at Henhouse Leawood, KS hoping for fresh, local tortilla chips. I was extremely disappointed. The tortilla chips smelled like varnish and were inedible. Terrible. I had to throw away the entire bag. I will never purchase the chips or go...to the restaurant.More

We went in for lunch and it was fairly crowded. The staff did a good job of handing our group of 30 people. It took awhile to get our order in and receive our food, but with a group this large that is expected. I...had the lunch special, a chicken cheese enchilada with rice, my husband had the lunch special of 2 tacos and had beans instead of rice. Both were OK to good. Next to us they had the sampler and there was enough to split.More

o not ever eat here. They will tow your car if you do. I will never eat there again and you should not support a business that does shady practices like this....What a way to treat patrons. leave you stranded at night. You eat there...and they tow your car 5 minutes after they close and it cost $220!(cash only) WTF!!! way to lose a customer of 25 years, good job. I hope the ransom money is worth it and you can sleep at night.More

Had heard so many good things about the food here that we wanted to eat here our next trip to Kansas City. This place is a bit farther away from the other Mexican eateries but not that far. Off street parking is ample and free....Service was quick starting with warm, thin, crisp, chips and a wonderfully spicy salsa. The lunch menu goes till 2 pm but we ordered from the regular menu that was very reasonably priced with very large portions. The puffy tacos which are fried flour tortillas filled with meats of choice. The shredded beef was spiced and tender. The chicken was moist and tender. The chimichangas were huge, hand wrapped bundles of meats of choice. The meals came with rice and beans. The beans were pinto beans topped with cheese and the rice had a wonderfully fresh taste. Other menu items were more true Mexican but since we only tried the Tex mex style entrees I can’t speak about those. This is a great place to go in Kansas City when you looking for really good, plentiful, reasonably priced Mexican food.More

very rude. I drove an hour round trip to get my order and they had left half my order out. I called and they remade it and my daughter went to pick it up but they made the order wrong. I ordered no cheese but...they put cheese on anyway. they refused to remake or refund order because he didn't write down "no cheese" even though it is on the receipt. never going back.More

Authentic Mexican. Good food at good prices, including lots of complimentary chips, even on take out orders. I didn’t care for my shrimp enchilada- too much cheese. And the salsa wasn’t anything special. Otherwise food was good, portions generous, and fair prices.

Started our own “Taco Tour” after reading the KC magazine article which listed 35 essential taco joints around the KC metro. Consider this the start of my taco passport...looking to get a stamp from all 35 places and a good COVID safe excuse to eat...a ton of tacos! Let’s get started. I’m not a foodie, but I know what I like. After trying to start in OP on a Sunday, we quickly learned many of the taco places are closed on Sundays. Thus, we started outer journey at Margarita’s in KC. WOW...What a let down. There were three of us. My wife, my youngest son, and me. I had three of the “Original” tacos. One chicken, one beef, and one pork. They were average at best. The shredded chicken was packed so dense, it had no taste. It tasted like compressed, solid block of shredded chicken lunch meat with shredded lettuce in top. The pork was not much better. The beef taco was much better...much more taste, but still only average. There was just nothing special about this place . I have no idea why it made the magazine list. My wife thinks the tacos at Twisted Fresh are better and they’re a chain. My son had two soft shell chicken tacos. Blah! And my wife had a soft shell chicken and then a crispy shell beef taco. Again, the beef was better but she reported it was nothing special and nothing she couldn’t have done at home herself. Net-net, nothing special. No wow factor. I gave this an average rating since it’s our first Taco Takeout Tour review but I suspect if this was the 3rd review or later, it would have been “Poor.” Of course the place was busy so there must be lots of fans. But I’m not one of them. On the bright side, the tortilla chips were good and the salsa was just spicy enough. Summary and a few tips Tip 1 - Confirm hours & days open. We started this on a Sunday and many of the places we planned to start with were closed. T1p 2 - There is no outdoor seating so be prepared to takeout or eat in without a mask of course. You could of course eat outside but under the highway overpass like a troll. Price - $31 for 3 of us (before tip). So, affordable. Would I return - No! Plus, the takeout came in Styrofoam...the stuff that NEVER breaks down.😩 I am very much looking forward to the next taco place!More

Have ordered carryout twice in the last month or so. The first time they were not at all busy, but was told over the phone that they did not do curbside pickup, I would have to come in and get it. The staff was not...at all busy when I went in. Seemed a little odd that they wouldn't bring it out- like pretty much everybody else does now. Second time, I was told I had to order online if I wanted curbside pickup. So I did. Was displeased to find out that there is a surcharge for "to-go packaging." I went ahead with the order. The estimated time was about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, I pulled in, called and told them what I was driving. The man on the line told me it would be right out. 20 minutes later, I called again. They brought it right out, and the guy told me "the pork looked a little sketchy, so we re-did it. I would have called to tell you but I we didn't have your number." Which was complete male bovine manure, as I was req'd to enter my number when I placed the order. Also, my order was done when I called the 2nd time, as they brought it right out. Not sure what was going on, but i got the distinct feeling I was getting the runaround. Felt like my business was not very valued. Not the Margarita's I've gone to for almost 30 years. Not likely to be back.More

Chips, queso and salsa came out quickly and service was excellent. Margarita was not stirred or shaken so first drink was warm. Puffy tacos were amazing and (ground beef) and shredded chicken tacos were very cheesy. Shrimp and grilled tilapia tacos were excellent with cilantro...and onion. Portions were good and we didn’t even get rice or beans but had more than enough to eat. An order of sopapillas includes six medium triangles with whipped cream and honey. Yum! Definitely a good experience and would go back!More

My first love is their Beef Enchiladas but the ground beef tacos and the cheese dip our wonderful as well. Most of the staff has been there a while and even though they are always busy the staff is very attentive.

We were really surprised to find such excellent Mexican food in Kansas City. Were from Oklahoma and we have a lot of fine Mexican restaurants to choose from and Margaritas was better than any of them. Would love to come back.

I grew up eating puffy tacos in Des Moines so I was happy to see them on the menu. The puffy tacos at Margarita's were better than I remember eating previously. So good! And then to have Margarita's salsa to dip the tacos. A really...good combo. Everything was good, hostess, service, and atmosphere.More
