Chicago-style Fried Rice

My brother and I went here for dinner. This is the closest I have gotten to having the Chicago style Fried Rice. You can get it light or dark. We got both and it was quite tantalizing. The food was prepared very quickly also. The staff were nice also.

Not the best China food in JCMO

You order at the counter, then get your drinks, then sit and wait for the food. We just wanted water to drink. We were told to go to the vending machine behind us. Communication was difficult. We didn't know if we were to get a plastic water bottle or if there was another spot to get water.

Not a very clean place. No cups of water to drink. Napkin holders empty. Food is good but I recommend take out and check your bill.

Order was fulfilled incorrectly. Food wasn't very good.

I had food delivered. Ordered a shrimp dish, received chicken. The chicken seemed to have been in sauce for a long time because it was mushy. Evidently, there is a large delivery charge because my food totaled $22, but charge was $29.

PROS Cooked to order, fresh Crab rangoon is crisp and crunchy on the outside and smooth and tasty inside Orange Chicken is fresh and delicious....we order the sauce on the side You can order different styles of fried rice ( St. Louis style is the favorite of some) Yellow rice is my choice Egg Foo Young is also a great choice Cons Sometime hard to find a parking spot, but no worries... This just means that the food is good and customers are always on the lot

Great takeout. The orders of Beef and Broccoli were delicious and were very generous portions. Unfortunately, they still have not opened up for indoor dining. Carryout only.

Downgraded since it changed hands

Used to be outstanding. Has changed ownership and food has gone downhill. Staff behind counter was rude. No longer deliver food to tables. Takeout was almost inedible. Will not be back.

prepare yourself for an unfriendly counter person.. food is good though

When you go here know that the staff is unfriendly but the Chinese is good. Not sure why the counter lady always seems to hate her job. She has been here at China King for years. I see her treat customers with a rude and sharp attitude. It doesn't matter if you are an in person customer or on the phone, she doesnt seem to want to talk to you. Dont ask her questions, because well you should know without asking. She may be very busy but she really needs to be a little more pleasant and upbeat. I always warn people when we go there and it can be comical. The veggies seem fresh not frozen but the chicken or meat tends to be more gummy than I like. The sauces I have chosen are hot and tasty. You'll have a lot more positive reviews if you can change the attitude.

Excellent Chinese Food

We stopped in after church and there were few people in the restaurant. It appeared that most of their customers were carryout. Even though there were lots of people picking up 'called in - carryout orders', we received our fresh cooked food in a timely manner. The quantities are huge. They do run a very short staffed business. Our server was taking care of all of the tables, the phone for carryout orders, and the cash register. She also 'bussed' the tables and had a broom and dustpan which she was constantly using to clean up after departing guests. We will go back!

Take out food great, service sucked

Ordered take out from here last night while in town. Lady was rude on the phone and in person when I went to pick it up. You would think take the person working the phones and register would have some kind of manners or social skills, but I was wrong. The worst part of dinner was the food was really good!! To bad I only spend money for dinner where there is some service with the food!!! WILL NOT BE BACK

Top Notch Chinese Within Jeff City & Lake Area.

Hands down the best Chinese within Jeff City & Lake Area. The last time I and my spouse had good Chinese food was in Anchorage, Alaska and China King is very comparable to what we had up there. If you like a-lot of filling in your crab rangoon along with some sweetness China King is the place to go. If you like your General Tso’s Chicken with good balance of sweet and spicy China King is the place to go. It’s been forever since I had Beef with Chinese veggies but overall I give it a 9. Chicken fried rice was good. I walked in and order to go which wait time was around 20mins but you can’t beat freshly made. I live over an hour away, so everything was still hot to warm when I got home. Portions depending on the person you could easily make two meals outta one dish. This is not a paid review, it’s a true review coming from someone who has lived all across the US and has tried various foods.

Poor Service, Disappointing Food

Service extremely poor from moment we entered - we were told to "sit there" with a point of a finger and no eye contact. Ordered food even though server was very unfriendly. Had to get our own silverware, straw, and sauce. Server never checked on meal after she brought it. My mother was unable to eat her lunch The chicken was fried to a crisp with dark fatty meat. Asked if we could change and she replied "I don't have to tell you that is dark meat". Our other two lunches were okay. The server was very rude and wanted to argue, all that was needed to make thing right was an apology. What should have been a nice lunch out with parents, turned out to be a very bad experience. Will never return!
