Went with a medium sized group for supper and the food was great. I had the chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich and it was great. The homemade French fries were very good, not too crunchy and not too soft. Their wings are also great. Highly recommend this place.

First time eating here on a visit to Jeff City. Parking appears to be street parking. Ate here for lunch on a Wednesday. Service was excellent. Food was served within 10 mins of ordering. Had the Prison Burger which was cooked just right. Fries were excellent. Prices were reasonable. Would come back here again.

We visited Prison Brews on a Saturday afternoon, hoping to watch the Mizzou game and have a few local beers. We ordered the beer flight, but they were out of 2 of the samples. I like my beer served as cold as possible and their beer was served too close to room temperature for my taste. We did order the... More

Wonderful atmosphere and the food is solid. Service is always very nice but slow. Love the concept and will go back but not great.

One of those places that screams Jefferson City! Great food includes oven-fired pizza, sandwiches, bar munchues, and even a black bean chipotle burger (delicious!) and absolutely spectacular sweet potato fries! Ideal for craft beer lovers, too, since they provide an interesting selection of home brew. Decor features jail "cells" in homage to the state penitentiary that used to be a... More

This is a pleasant place to meet and eat lunch. If I drank beer, I'd probably rate it a 5. But the food is very good.

Came in for afternoon drinks and had a great time. Staff was extremely friendly. We had already eaten but food smelled great and selections were wide and reasonable prices. Crafted beers were good and enjoyable. We will be back for the food

After taking a tour of the penitentiary, you have to go to prison brews. Sitting at mock jail cell and have an ice cold beer and sandwich and or pizza. With a side salad, a sandwich can be split with enough for two people to eat. The food was very good in the brew was incredible

Best oven-baked pizza and microbrew beer in Jefferson City. Add to this some sparkling wine on tap, bocce ball and original prison cells from Missouri's State Penitentiary - this is a dining experience the whole family will enjoy!

Description
Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the "prison" kitsch feel with bars between the bar & dining area and pictures of the 1800's penitentiary historical artifact lining the walls. The menu items and beers on tap are also incorporated into the theme. There is a large dining area as well as large outdoor seating on the adjacent patio complete with bocce ball. A unique experience in a growing area of town.
