Excellent food at a descent price. They have a micro brewery on the premises with a nice selection to choose from. The service was good. Make sure to ask about the specials.

We decided to try this place after the Sapphire didn't work out yesterday. As we were going on the Missouri Penitentiary tour - this placed seemed fitting. They were fairly busy when we arrived. The hostess was fairly disinterested and less than engaging. The waiter took several minutes to come see us even though he walked by us several times... More

Service was good, drinks were good. I felt like we were inconveniencing the staff because we had such a large party. It felt like we were labor intensive for them, and locals got better service than we did. Maybe because of the size of our party; approximately 15-17 people. I understand large groups are a chore, but the restaurant/bar wasn't... More

Ate there a couple of tiles with a large group; one time with a live band playing. Great time but if you have a large group on a weekend, call ahead. Not sure if they actually take reservations but they do want to please.

Good place to stop after a long day of tourism. Decent beer selection and the wood fired pizza is delicious. Staff was attentive and pleasant.

Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the "prison" kitsch feel with bars between the bar & dining area and pictures of the 1800's penitentiary historical artifact lining the walls. The menu items and beers on tap are also incorporated into the theme. There is a large dining area as well as large outdoor seating on the adjacent patio complete with bocce ball. A unique experience in a growing area of town.
