Good food, good wood fired pizza, and great craft beers. Nice atmosphere of seating in prison cells. I love the Prison Town Brown. It is next to the old Missouri State Penitentiary, check out their tours while you are there.

Stopped by for my second try of this place. Wasn't disappointed. Sampled the beers and most were to my liking. The wood fired pizza was killer though. I don't get anything but take out at home so this was a real treat.

We had great service and wonderful recommendations from Robin who knew the beers and the menu exceptionally well. We tried the Octoberfest, Brown Ale, and Smokey Porter. All three were tasty. I particularly like the fruity and spicy notes of the Octoberfest and the smoothness of the Brown Ale. The super large pretzels with beer cheese and spinach-artichoke dip were... More

I have been here for lunch and early dinner. Casual place, come as you are. Typical lunch fare. They have stone oven pizza, but have never gotten one. We enjoy eating outside, if the weather is good. Average price for lunch food. They do have great beers, even a sampler.Service can be spotty, but I am usually not in a... More

Great beer selection with cheeky names. Tomato feta bacon pizza is the bomb, and reasonably priced. Bourbon bread pudding was fantastic. Wait staff was great as well. The waitress knew the difference between ale and lager--a good sign. Parking can be a challenge. There is substantial parking in the rear, but you won't want to try it with a dually... More

Our server/bartender, Scott was friendly and knowledgeable. Every beer was fantastic, as was the food. What could be better than a brick oven pizza and excellent craft beer? We highly recommend this brewpub.

Went with a medium sized group for supper and the food was great. I had the chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich and it was great. The homemade French fries were very good, not too crunchy and not too soft. Their wings are also great. Highly recommend this place.

First time eating here on a visit to Jeff City. Parking appears to be street parking. Ate here for lunch on a Wednesday. Service was excellent. Food was served within 10 mins of ordering. Had the Prison Burger which was cooked just right. Fries were excellent. Prices were reasonable. Would come back here again.

We visited Prison Brews on a Saturday afternoon, hoping to watch the Mizzou game and have a few local beers. We ordered the beer flight, but they were out of 2 of the samples. I like my beer served as cold as possible and their beer was served too close to room temperature for my taste. We did order the... More

Wonderful atmosphere and the food is solid. Service is always very nice but slow. Love the concept and will go back but not great.

Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the "prison" kitsch feel with bars between the bar & dining area and pictures of the 1800's penitentiary historical artifact lining the walls. The menu items and beers on tap are also incorporated into the theme. There is a large dining area as well as large outdoor seating on the adjacent patio complete with bocce ball. A unique experience in a growing area of town.
