Wonderful food and service, clearly a local favorite

Oscar's is a gem! We had a terrible dinner before and were skeptical of eating at a restaurant in Jefferson City but Oscar's had excellent reviews so we took a chance. So glad we did! This place is amazing. I had a veggie omelet and my husband had biscuits and gravy. So much better than places like Cracker Barrel. The value was also amazing. Both of us had a delicious, full breakfast with orange juice for under $25. The value was much better than offered at our hotel. Next time we visit Jefferson City we hope to try the dinner menu at Oscar's. The wait staff was always in a great mood with a smile. I don't know how they did it because this place was busy. We highly recommend Oscar's if you are in Jefferson City. You won't be sorry.

Husband and I visit often

The breakfast's are great. Dinner, hubby likes the chicken fried steak with white gravy. I love the catfish. Burgers are great and I love to sit and look at the walls with all the 60's and probably earlier, photos of movie stars and singers. Love the place!

Great Service and Great food and No Social Distancing

Wait service was very and wearing mask. We sat and ordered. The Restaurant was empty. Another couple came in and the waitress sat them right behind us. Then our food came. Wife had Turkey wrap and I had fish and chips. Both were very good and plenty of food. As we were eating a group of four comes in and the wait staff sat them at the table right next to us. We were with in a four foot of other people for over 15 mins. This is not social distancing. The restaurant was empty and no reason for everyone sitting next to each other. So be careful. The cooks and table buster were not wearing mask.

One of our favorite places to eat in Jefferson City

We go to Oscars every week - it is one of our go to restaurants because the staff are always friendly and efficient. They have a good menu that offers lots of choices from nice salads to chicken fried steak and in between. We are currently on a low carb diet so we enjoy the Naked Burger (no bun) which comes with two sides. We tend to get a side salad with Ranch and a veggie (either broccoli or green beans) - all good and we get to stay on our diet.

Must have been a bad day

We went to this place because of its high ratings. It was extremely busy and I am sure the food is wonderful. However, our server seemed extremely frazzled and overwhelmed. We saw our food come up and sit in the window, and sit and sit and sit while others that came in after us received their food before us. As expected my husband's eggs were cold, and his sausage patties were way overcooked. We sent the eggs back . I ordered hashbrowns crispy on both sides, they were crispy on top, raw on the bottom. I am sure this place has great food judging by how busy they were. We must have just gone on a bad day.

Great Experience!!

Oscars is worth a special trip! We had breakfast. Our family had pancakes, biscuits and gravy, an omelette, and coffee. All was seriously SO good. The biscuits are fresh and the omelettes are so fluffy. Our waitress, Jenny, was so sweet to our kids and did a fabulous job. We pass through Jeff City often and we will be back!

Great Diner Decor

Wonderful, historic decorations in this 'classic' diner. The food is also 'classic' diner food. Generous portions, great presentation of the food, and friendly service. The server is always available to grab their attention. This is a well-run restaurant that we frequent often and will continue to do so in the future.

Irresistible

While reading the menu, I noticed that the Country Benedicts were "Irresistible". I told the waitress that since I couldn't resist, I would order the Country Benedicts. They really were irresistible. No Canadian bacon, but a very nice sausage with a strong flavor that was a compliment to the excellent Hollandaise sauce. Yes, I'd order it again. Our server was Melissa (Zoom Zoom). She was very professional and charming.

Food not the greatest

Well, the turkey was very dry, the bread, although gluten free, tasted as if it had been on a dirty grill. The kraut was not good at all. And although we were told the fries were gluten free, they definitely were not. My husband enjoyed his meal but sadly, I won't go back. Not worth the money.

Good breakfast in the Capitol

We arrived to a very crowded parking lot. I trusted the reviews and found a spot and went in. We were seated quickly. Our server, Jenny, appeared quickly and got us some drinks. I checked my watch, since it was crowded, it took 8 minutes to get our breakfast! My wife's French toast and bacon was excellent. My country fried steak deluxe was very good as well. Come hungry! A ton of food flew through that window and it was all very calm and composed. Well done kitchen!

Everything you want in a Diner

When visiting family in Jeff City, we made a stop at Oscar's. Our multiple visits there over the years have proven them be be consistent in their food and service. For fast service, good food and a fun decor, this is the place to go.

Never eating here again!

Brought a group of six here for business lunch, it was horrible. Each one of us had something wrong with our meal. My co-work had a hair in her food, so they made her another burger. But to sum it up, the food lacked flavor, was cold, and the place was filthy. We used the restroom and the waitress walked out of the bathroom, fixed her hair and walked out. We were so disgusted, we'll never eat here again.

The Northpole experience

I went to eat at Oscar's and it was so cold I couldn't stay longer than getting my drink. It is a meat locker in there. You better bring your snow parka or you will freeze to death. You alcoholics will love, you won't feel hot all the time in there. So if you like to freeze this is your place.

Nostalgia from 1960s at its best

What a wonderful American cafe, with all kinds of nostalgia from the 1960s adorning the place. We went here on a recommendation from a tour guide at the prison, and did not regret it. A bit hard to find, but worth it. The food was wonderful, and plenty of it. Even the restroom doors were marked "Beauty Shop", and "Mechanics". Historical pictures are all on the walls, some from entertainment, others from history. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the pork tenderloin; it was twice as big as the bun, or more. Don't miss this place. I guess it's a bit of a hidden gem, as it's hard to find. Regulars know where it is though.

Best Breakfast in Town

We went to Perkins because it was near our hotel. Waited 15 minutes to be seated - left and went to Oscar's. So glad we did! Huge breakfast, really fast service, and delicious food. We went back the next morning - there were 7 of us - same great food and service.
