If you are new to Fernweh you are in for a treat. There will usually be a wait so be sure to make reservations if you don't want to wait on the weekend evenings.
The mixed drinks are good and unique. The menu is really...scaled down since covid and there's only about 6 options for dinner. I've had the brisket and chicken and both are cooked really well with a good smokey flavor. I'm not a big fan of the quinoa bowls personally. I think they tried too hard to mix good old bbq with diet food.
The appetizers we've had have all been really good. The service really depends on who you get. There's veteran servers who are great but the green peas are still pretty raw. All in all its definitely worth trying out.More
We sat outside and all the workers wore masks. The patrons inside were way to close and no masks. But the food was very good. I had the brisket grilled cheese and it was great. The pretzels were so good, I could have had just...them for dinner. We also had the fried green beans, also great!More
I just moved here to Hermann from California. We have been making our way through all the restaurants here in town trying to find our favorite and that ended up being Fernweh which is also the place I work. It offers quality ingredients and the...best cocktails I have had in a bar.
Not only is it outstanding as far as food and service goes but the managers/owners treat their employees so well. I am so impressed. Yesterday they were in the kitchen all day making a Christmas meal for the staff. They also decorated the restaurant beautifully for us. You could feel they wanted to make it special for us.
This is a restaurant and management that cares for staff, guests, customer care and quality products. If you are in Hermann and you are deciding where to eat or taste some awesome whiskeys, this is worth the visit.More
The building is absolutely gorgeous. Our party of 10 had dinner here after attending the sip and shop upstairs. We had to be seated at two separate tables but that worked out OK. The food and drink was excellent and well priced. The restaurant itself...was pretty busy and service was good, although our waitress could’ve been a little bit more friendly. It got quite noisy when the Santa rampage came through the restaurant, but that provided a little additional enjoyment and entertainment! We would recommend this place and likely return ourselves.More
Didn't have food, just a distillery chaser always checking out new spots. As with all green distilleries I've seen, they only have 1 item even close to aged. For the price, their sample flight is not much to taste. Give them a few years to...build up something of a pallet. For now, as young as their products are, there's no justification in $40 bottle green whiskeys. Our group is really turned off by any kind of 'flavored' alchohol, and they had a couple. It's generally a way to hide sub-good corn whiskey. Looking at the menu, we passed as simply too high for the area. More appropriate if you were in downtown StLouis.More

Thanks for stopping in to try our Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye, Young Bourbon and Bourbon Mash Moonshine! We don't produce any flavored spirits, so we're thinking you may have tasted some free samples of moonshine infusions from the bar as we are purists...More
Although the tasting room was closed for the evening the bartender poured the tastings for us. Four spirits are distilled on premises. Taste all for $10. She did an excellent job of describing each spirit even though she was busy with other bar patrons plus...a full restaurant seating. After the tasting we joined our friends at a table for dinner. I ordered the potato, which was perfectly cooked and a meal itself. My husband ordered the pork chop which he also enjoyed. It was busy yet we had excellent friendly service. We'd be back for another round when again in Hermann.More
From the reviews I'd read, I was prepared to really like the Fernweh. The atmosphere was really nice, dark walls, exposed brick, cozy lighting. We were there on a really cold day in October. The restaurant has a cool looking fireplace, but it wasn't lit....When we inquired about seeing the fire, one of the staff said that the fireplace doesn't have double paned glass and gets too hot so they only turn it on in the dead of winter. I ordered the salmon patties with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The food was OK, not mouth watering. They could have used more sauce under the salmon patties and the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were luke warm, not hot. My husband ordered the loaded baked potato with brisket (I can't remember the name of the dish). There was very little brisket and the B-B-Q sauce was very sweet. It was less than satisfying. I would suggest serving the sauce on the side as each bite of potato was too sweet. The waitress was nice but outside of filling our water glasses once we didn't see much of her. Had to go to someone else for something and then after presenting us with the bill, she didn't come back. The trolley was our transportation and we were pushing it to get on the last run of the evening, so my husband had to track down another staff member to pay. Overall, it was adequate meal but nothing to rave about.More
