If you are new to Fernweh you are in for a treat. There will usually be a wait so be sure to make reservations if you don't want to wait on the weekend evenings.
The mixed drinks are good and unique. The menu is really scaled down since covid and there's only about 6 options for dinner. I've had the brisket and chicken and both are cooked really well with a good smokey flavor. I'm not a big fan of the quinoa bowls personally. I think they tried too hard to mix good old bbq with diet food.
The appetizers we've had have all been really good. The service really depends on who you get. There's veteran servers who are great but the green peas are still pretty raw. All in all its definitely worth trying out.

I just moved here to Hermann from California. We have been making our way through all the restaurants here in town trying to find our favorite and that ended up being Fernweh which is also the place I work. It offers quality ingredients and the best cocktails I have had in a bar.
Not only is it outstanding as far as food and service goes but the managers/owners treat their employees so well. I am so impressed. Yesterday they were in the kitchen all day making a Christmas meal for the staff. They also decorated the restaurant beautifully for us. You could feel they wanted to make it special for us.
This is a restaurant and management that cares for staff, guests, customer care and quality products. If you are in Hermann and you are deciding where to eat or taste some awesome whiskeys, this is worth the visit.

Everything was delicious. We started off doing the tasting up front while waiting on our table. Delicious.
Once seated we split the pretzels which were piping hot and served with some very yummy cheese sauce.
We ordered the bbq chicken sandwich and the smoked brisket. The sandwich was good, the brisket was some of the best we've ever eaten.
For drinks, we had the Old Earl and the Maple Pecan Old Fashioned. Incredible.
In short, a great start to our weekend.

This was our second time to Fernweh, and we were not disappointed. Everything I’ve eaten there is delicious. The spinach artichoke dip was creamy and delicious with crunchy pita triangles. The Bavarian pretzels were warm and fresh with a slightly spicy queso dipping sauce. The All American burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked.
They have a talented mixologist, Eli, working behind the bar. He makes a variety of amazing cocktails including several variations of an “Old Fashioned.”
All of the staff went above and beyond for us. Thank you so much! We will be back!

We ate dinner here this past Friday (May 21, 2021) Wife had brisket, which was very tender and delicious - only lightly smoked, with a very mild BBQ sauce. I had the bacon jalapeno burger, which was fantastic. Others have complained about the prices, but this was great food, and worth every penny. Two drinks - a specialty martini, and an old fashioned were strong and delicious. Not too many choices in Hermann, but this is a keeper!

Tons of tables were open but not enough employees to bring people in and give them service. Once we did sit down, there was four other tables set after us and all received water and ordered drinks before our server got to us with the water. The food menu was appropriately designed to make sure the kitchen wasn’t over doing it with too many choices… but the cheeseburger we ordered was red, raw and ultimately I got sick after eating this. I like my hamburger and steaks to be undercooked from well done but this was raw inside. I couldn’t even finish it and I was so frustrated with the service, I just wanted to get out of there so I just asked for the check.
Cheeseburgers should be one of the easiest menu items to get right.
They need a floor manager to manage the customers, tables, and waitresses. The owner was part time bartender and part time waiter. It seemed as if there was little structure to their business model.
Best thing I saw was the Hostess was very friendly and trying to sit guests but the staff was unable to keep up with her because they were too slow taking care of the tables. Also the bussers were very good at their job. Quickly cleaning off tables and turning them over for the next customer.
I expected a lot more from this place after waiting for 45 minutes to get in… and then 15 minutes to get water… and then 30 minutes to get food. I haven’t been able to eat since Saturday nights dinner. Will not ever visit this establishment again.

We attempted to dine at this establishment in 2019, but they were booked. So, we booked a reservation earlier this year to ensure that wouldn’t happen again. First of all, our server, Heather, was outstanding. Very attentive and appeared to really enjoy her job. Great smile! The spinach artichoke dip w/ pita bread was outstanding. The main dishes were good as well. My wife had the scallops and pasta and I had the fish and chips. We thought the alcoholic beverages were a bit overpriced for their size. We were surprised how overcrowded the dining area was. Guests were right on top of one another. It was bright and not very romantic. It has more of a sports bar atmosphere, which is fine. Overall, not a bad place to dine.

This was our first trip to Hermann. We checked into our B&B and walked into town. This was the first place that caught our eye. We stopped in and found they have an outdoor deck with views of the river. We were looking for a drink and a snack to tide us over till dinner. Since it was a whiskey distillery, I decided to order an old fashioned made with the house whiskey. We ordered pretzel with cheese. Wow. What a wonderful drink. The pretzels were soft and tasty and the cheese was phenomenal. My only regret is that we didn’t come back during our trip to try more of their delicious food.

We had stopped in the afternoon right when they were closing for an hour to clean. We ended up at the bourbon tasting. Came back later for dinner, sitting at the bar. We got the feeling something was going on the whole time we were there. Very unorganized. Chef may have left. Food was soso. I had heard great things about the food, but mine (schnitzel) was way overcooked. Husbands brisket mac and cheese was pretty good, but very spicy. We had thought we would return, but decided not to.

We enjoyed our first dinner here so much we came back to try other items on their menu before we left from our weekend getaway. Fish and chips were crisp and not greasy! Schnitzel for my husband was fantastic. The next night, we ate a bit lighter, but we wanted to try their smoked meats. Yummy! And, of course, the trains going by was, for us, a great view!

Went a little early on a holiday weekend Saturday for dinner & got a table right away on the patio with views of the river. Did a whisky tasting & had good food. My fav was the roasted carrots! Would recommend you add this to your Hermann restaurant list.

At first we found it to be a nice atmosphere we were going to start with the craft drinks and then dinner it was not busy being February the signature drinks were expensive but very good because they were slow they were doing an inventory on their liquor we did not mind but it was becoming consuming with their attention we had asked to closed on our tab and waiting 30 minutes as they were busy with inventory there was one other table, the server or inventory person kept making slide remarks as we talked and was making us feel uncomfortable we wanted to leave at this point again we asked for our tab, paid , & I actually gave the bartender a $100.00 tip for his great drinks even though I was unhappy with the caddy laughter and remarks from the employee at the bar.. he was great & did not feel like that should reflect my tip. so I leave and then I have employees stop me saying there was something wrong with my credit card, there was 3 or 4 of them I was embarrassed I told them for my hundreds of dollars I spent there I want to make sure I was covered… then they tell me all is good!! So un-professional, terrible experience just ruined our night! Will never be back & suggest you don’t experience this also

Finally in Hermann on a weekend (sadly they are closed for lunch during the week which is when we are usually in Hermann) so we got to try this place out. It was really good. I got the grilled zucchini and I wasn't thrilled with it. I wished it would have been grilled more. For my main dish I got the smoked pork plate and it was very yummy. My husband got the holy hell burger and it as well was very yummy. Nice drinks.

It’s nice to visit once for the experience. I’m not a hard liquor Connoisseur. I really don’t see the draw in drinking straight whiskey. Maybe if I liked the feel of my throat and stomach lining melting away in a blazing inferno of agonizing pain, then I would give it 5 stars.

We went to Fernweh Distillery for a late lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was not very busy. Wait staff were attentive and friendly. We did not partake in a tasting but the food was very good. The menu was limited but the pricing was reasonable and the quality of food was definitely above average. The grilled cheese with brisket was excellent, very tender. The crinkle FF were good, although a little salty for my taste. They did not have the tomato bisque but the spinach artichoke dip with housemade pita chips was very good. The atmosphere was comfortable and the bar had electric and USB outlets every few chairs. A very nice touch. We plan on going back for a distillery tasting in the near future. I hear it can get very crowded so going at off times might be recommended.
