Great lunch

The lunch specials were special. All came with an egg roll an a crab rangoon that were very good. A large serving of fried rice was excellent with a lot of veggies. I had the General Tso and it was great. Wife enjoyed the shrimp and veggies, all good. Cheap price also

The Hunan is housed in a free standing building on the outskirts of town (versus being situated in a shopping center), which contributes to its appeal. At about 5 p.m. on a Sunday, I was the only customer. Ordered the Happy Family, which contained shrimp, (sea!) scallops, beef, chicken, and vegetables in a brown sauce. I was asked if I wanted white or fried rice, and I chose fried. My meal arrived quickly, It was fresh and flavorful. The vegetable were appropriately crisp-tender. No complaints. Note: The menu states the entree is accompanied by white rice. You'll be asked if you want white or fried rice. If you choose fried rice there is an additional charge.

They add tax and tip into bill and service and food not that good. Silverware and tea cups were greasy. Won’t be back

Fresh!! The BEST fried rice anywhere!

Their food is really fresh. Lunch portions are good sized portions, and their fried rice is the best I've ever had!! Recently remodeled and very clean. Our server wasn't very helpful, and had very little knowledge of anything when I asked her about the menu. Maybe she was having an off day, but her personality didn't seem like she should be a server. It was hard to even get a smile out of her. The food was excellent though!!!! We had lemon chicken and sweet & sour chicken.

Great food, good value, AND delivery

What's not to love? We ordered from Hunan while staying at a bed and breakfast in Excelsior Springs, largely because, on a Sunday night, it was them or Pizza Hut. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was--a restaurant of this caliber definitely doesn't *have* to be delivering at 9:00 on Sunday night, to make ends meet! The flavor of the orange chicken was complex, not overly sweet, and featured the wine it had been marinated in; the General Tso's chicken was also excellent (that one wasn't my meal, and I don't usually eat it, so I'll refrain from more elaborate commentary--but it was very, very good!). Small-town delivery places often have that "been sitting under a heat-lamp all afternoon" vibe, especially by late evening; that wasn't at all the case, here. The food was obviously fresh and high-quality, despite the late hour, and enriched our stay, rather than simply sustaining it. Highly recommended!

Had this during our stay at Inn on Crescent Lake. Good food expensive but good servings and hot and fresh! Delivery was fast!

Great food with large portions. Clean and comfortably restored after fire gutted site a few years ago. My kids love Terri the waitress she always provided personal friendly service. They offer fast take out and local delivery.

Hot and sour soup was good. General chicken was just okay but the shrimp fried rice was excellent as were the crab rangoons. Would go back. Friendly and Fast.

Jerk taking order over phone

I live right up the street and have ordered lunch for years here for my entire family of 4. That is $30.00-35.00 at a time, I have always been able to ask them to leave out certain vegetables and it has never been a problem. Today I was told rudely and repeatedly that I could "pick it out". Well, now you can "pick out" the $30.00-35.00 1 to 2 times a week you just lost from me. What a horrible way to treat steady and reliable customers. I will never order from Hunan's again.

While this restaurant food is just so-so Chinese food...their fried rice is SUPERB! You won't find better anywhere else. We go there just for the fried rice.
