We love to stop here and visit with Jim and Daphne. The food is always good and the service as well. We love to see all the great products made in Missouri. We never leave empty handed. I had to share I ordered the Italian sandwich when it came out I had no issues with it, next thing I know the waitress tells me I have a new sandwich coming out. Jim saw the sandwich and thought the bread was over toasted. Really the sandwich was fine but I ended up with another sandwich. Great customer service.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Elms and stopped in this place. We found the old style black cherry soda he loved at a child and sat down for dessert and a latte downstairs. Delicious!

We had read about this restaurant/gift shop and the B&B rec this place. Interesting place as is a wine shop, liquor shop, gift shop and a very nice restaurant. Folks were friendly and the service was great. The restaurant is on lower level so watch steps. We both had the half sandwich and salad. My wife had the pimento cheese and cucumber sandwich and the spinach salad. They looked great and my wife said really good. I had the turkey and jack cheese sandwich with the orzo salad. I also had the local bottled cream soda. The orzo salad was very good as was the sandwich. Both sandwiches were large and also included lettuce and tomato. We highly rec this as a place to eat and browse around.

We stopped here just as we were walking by and it is such a cute little store with lots of wine, liquor and beer options to purchase along with snacks, culinary treats and other items for purchase. The woman working tucked a menu in her bag and told her that “we would want to come back if we needed something to do while in town. You’ll be back!” She was right, we were leaving the next day but waited just long enough for their Bistro to open and we are so glad we did! The food and staff were amazing. I had the toasted Italian sandwich and my sister had the baked potato flatbread. Both were so fresh and delicious! To top off an already fantastic experience the caramel brownie we finished our meal by splitting the caramel brownie which we wish we could have taken an entire pan to go! These were soooo good! If you are in the area, this is definitely a place worth stopping into.

We were looking for dinner but the restaurant closed early on Friday and only the shop was open until 6. They recommended that we come back Saturday because they stayed open til 5 on Saturday. We took their advice and it was well worth returning. Saturday was my birthday, so they treated me to dessert. I had a fantastic turkey wrap with a delicious side salad and my husband had a Toasted Italian Sandwich that he really enjoyed. We shared a delightful sea salt caramel brownie. The atmosphere, food, and service were all excellent. We would highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner and then shopping upstairs afterwards for wine, coffee or teas, interesting spices, etc.

What an amazing place! Wonderful Missouri wine selection and other products. The food is beyond amazing!! We should continue to come back just to further explore this wonderful menu of food. The owners and staff are simply, great special people that make you feel like you belong there and that you are one of their friends. We just loved it.

If we could give them 6 stars we would! Truly delightful store and cafe with local MO goods and spirits. My friends and I had the Willow Spring Salad, the bread plate, a pear and gorgonzola flatbread pizza, and a gluten free salted caramel brownie. And 2 glasses of crisp white wine. The meal was exceptionally well balanced and delicious to the last bites!! The proprietors were lovely people and we spent some time talking with them. This place is a real gem!!

Ate here for lunch. Probably my 10th time eating there. The last two times I haven’t been impressed. This time I had a salad and added chicken breast. The chicken breast was so processed almost like fake meat. I probably won’t eat there again. I would like to shop the wines again so I’ll probably go to the store part next time.

Of course, the ambience set the tone, but when mother Nancy had to go upstairs and tell Daphne, the co-owner, she needed to go downstairs it turned into a social of the highest quality (my judgments). She shared the recipe for the finest of brownies, and where to get the ingredients. Then proceeded to bring out the notebook of menus so we could copy. And, many other topics were covered. I left in amazement, and delighted with the quality of food, service, and personal greetings.

My sister and I had the best meals during our entire trip at this restaurant. I had the special Italian chicken sandwich and apple cider mimosa and she had the Italian sandwich and veggie soup. We were both blown away by how delicious the food was and how wonderful the server!

My husband and I stop by The Mercantile every trip to the Elms. The owners, Jim and Daphne are always so welcoming and knowledgeable about their product. The downstairs bistro has a wonderful ambience and Jim always recommends the best local wines. Appreciate the overall uniqueness.

We were lucky to be able to make it up to Excelsior Springs for the monthly wine dinner. It had been too long between visits. Jim and Daphne never disappoint. They are so cheerful and knowledgeable about three wines they serve. Looking forward to visiting again.

We went here for lunch - and the food was interesting. Lighter fare that reminded me of food offered at a tea room. Dessert was good. Service was good. Upstairs lots of spirits for sale, wine, liquors, etc. Cool vibe, mostly just an upscale liquor store.

My wife, son and I had the pleasure of having lunch at this wonderful oasis. We had a quick timeline to make a set appointment, but that was no problem for the staff. I had 1/2 a sandwich and salad, as did my wife. My son had the mac and cheese. Everyone loved their food and we made out appointment. This is worth the trip to Excelsior Springs all by itself. Keep up the great work!!

Ordered chicken enchiladas for an appetizer? then moved on to a great southwestern salad and pub burger. Tasty, modestly priced…and gigantic portions. Food was fresh. Service was friendly and accommodating. Definitely a place to go back to.
