My wife and I made a to-go order and found that it was ready when we arrived. Once we made it back to our hotel, we enjoyed the food. The sushi roll was really good. My wife loved her drunken noodles and the pad see...ew had good flavor.More

First visit concerns and praises. We were seated quickly, our first waitress engaged quickly, frankly almost too quickly wanting to know if we wanted to order and we had not even opened our menus, so we asked for ice waters and more time. They were...not busy at 530 on Saturday. One napkin a piece. Asked for more. Room temp by front window was about the same as outdoors on this hot day. Vertical fan next to me was only moving kitchen air into the small front dining room IMO. I ordered shrimp with asparagus Zen "specialty" and she ordered Pad Thai with chicken. Both were clearly asked to be cooked as 1's and mild. Our food was delivered fairly quickly and temperature steaming hot. My entre had 10 shrimp, which was very good. We began after I took these pics. We immediately discovered both dinners were way too spicy hot. I began sweating from it. She was not sure she could finish hers. 2 waitresses came by to ask if all was okay. We told both that our meals were too spicy hot for number 1 seasoning. One apologized after informing the kitchen. I feel I can judge this, based on my many trips to Thailand, and our visits to other Thai restaurants in the area. We overheard another customer warn those quests with them to go with 0. I wish he was at our table. Since this experience may deserve it, I think we will return 1 more time to try zero seasoned meals and make our final judgment then.More

We've been patronizing Zen for years. The food has always been excellent, and the prices are pretty reasonable, although they were increased recently. Their Achille's Heal is their service. We were greeted and seated promptly on our last visit, and things got off to a...good start. The sushi, Thai coffee, and glasses of water were all delivered promptly. We ordered our main course. The first one arrived shortly, but my meal took a long time. My girlfriend finished her dinner, and I waited for my food. I had to get up and find our waitress. She didn't give us any indication of when we might expect the food. In the meantime, we drank all our water, she finished her Thai coffee, and I still was waiting for my order. Finally, it arrived. We had to ask to have our water glasses refilled and for napkins. In my opinion, I shouldn't have to ask a server to refill my empty water. That's just a minimum. Oh, and they didn't clear our dirty plates and used napkins until I set them on the edge of the table. Our original waitress never reappeared, and we had to ask another woman for a check. In the middle of the afternoon, at least four servers were working, and there were only two other tables(two at one and a solo diner at another), so there was no way they could be overwhelmed. They also should really consider table-side ordering. They are very inefficient, and it seems like they've gotten worse. To their credit, it's almost always ready on time anytime we order take-out. There are occasional cultural or language barriers where I'm not sure they understand our requests. When that occurs, however, the server sometimes seems frustrated with us. They need to focus on improving their POS flow and service, and they'll have a significant operation. We also are always good tippers, but this experience was so subpar I left a much lower than usual amount. They need to work on communications, too. If it's going to take a long time to make something, let the customer know. Here's to another chance.More

It's hidden in a strip mall, but I'm glad we found it. We haven't had everything on the menu, so I can't vouch for everything, but we definitely have our favorite dishes here and keep coming back. If you are in the mood for Pad...Thai, curries, Tom Ka Gai, and Thai iced tea, this is worth a visit. We also order the pineapple fried rice when the grandparents are in town (good for those not wanting to try more unfamiliar dishes). Heat scale goes to 5; 4 seems universally too hot to be comfortable for the guests we bring here who normally like spicy food. The staff are friendly, and actually from Thailand. If you've been to Thailand, you'll see some familiar photos on the walls of the restaurant. Simple good food that is good for carryout too.More

We love Zen and eat there at least once a week. The food is ALWAYS fresh, hot and delicious! Every entree, every appetizer made to order. The family that owns it is amazing as well. So happy we found this hidden gem in Osage Beach!!!!!

My daughter chose what type of food she wanted for her 16th birthday - Thai food. With only 1 year in St. Louis and we have never been to a Thai food restaurant here, I relied on reviews. Zen was rated pretty high overall (4.5/5)...here and it was close, so I decided to give it a try. We were comparing it to our favorite Thai restaurant in Cincinnati, OH - Sawadassee Thai in Fairfield, OH. It is stellar awesome and we were very loyal fans there for over 8 years. Zen did not even come close. While the Pad Thai was average, Drunken noodles were good, but had a heavy licorice flavor. My son ordered 2 sushi rolls and could not eat either, almost vomiting up one of them -Alaskan roll. The staff did not charge us for either. My birthday girl got Pinapple fried rice. She said it was ok, but none of us finished our meals and packed it up. That says it all. No one thought it was good enough to finish it. Recommend getting Thai only, not sushi. Don't go there expecting to be wowed. The staff was amazing though, and did bring out my birthday girl a treat - Thai ice cream. We won't be back. The search continues.More

We ordered out and they offered free delivery. Who ever packed the cartons put containers with sauce on the side and it leaked all over the place. Food was good. It would have been helpful if quantity of things would been helpful. The egg roles...were 4 per container we didn’t know that and got 4.More

This is by far the best Thai food in St. Louis. I spent this summer exploring every Thai restaurant in the greater St. Louis area. It is with great enthusiasm that I review Zen as the best. The authentic, homemade fresh flavors as well as...the infusion of Japanese cuisine make this restaurant the one to try if craving Thai food in St. Louis.More

Some of the dishes here were delicious and others not so much. The green curry sauce and vegetables were quite good but at level 3 spice was too spicy for everyone at the table. My basil chicken at level 3 was also too spicy (for...someone who really likes spicy food), and even worse, the chicken was clearly left over which is a problem I’ve had with every single Thai restaurant I have tasted in the St. Louis metro area. The drunken noodles also tasted very average and I didn’t like them. On a positive note, prices in general were reasonable and beer especially. A table for 6 was able to eat for $80 including tax but not tip. Service was fine with no complaints.More

Many flavorful entrees. Authentic Thai kitchen and cooks. Not many tables for dining. Take-out is fast, though. A bit pricey, but still a very good value and special treat.

Ate lunch here recently and had a wonderful meal. Lunch menu was priced right, about $8, and portions were good. Our party of 3 ate the Japanese foods and all were very good. Portions just right and tasted good. Not a large variety of Japanese...choices. The Thai menu has many more choices and I’m sure are very good as well based on the quality of our meal. Seating area has been expanded. We will definitely dine here again.More

I ordered from here for the first time today and was not impressed. It was a take out order with pad thai w/tofu and fried rolls. I wasn't asked about a spice level as some reviews suggested so that left the dish a little bland...for me. The tofu was disgusting and completely drenched in cooking oil, I had to pick that out. Rolls were good. Overall, not impressed and won't return.More
