Went to eat a late Sunday breakfast. It took 55 minutes to get our food and it was Not busy. There was a group of about 12 and half a dozen other tables with 2-3 people. Server took our drink order and didn’t bring any...drinks. About 10 minutes went by and we got her attention and she had to take the order again because “she forgot our order. Once we finally got our drinks we sat for 40 additional minutes and still did not have food. Others who were not there when we ordered were getting their food but we were not. We asked about our order and instead of just saying let me check, our server continued to go fill drinks for others. Finally, we got our food and it was cold. Hash browns crunched like potato chips and what asked we were told “that’s how they come in the carton “. My potatoes were so hard you could not stab them with a fork. The server was making excuse after excuse instead of just making it right. My meal was cold to the point the gravy had formed a crust. They brought it back after throwing it in the microwave and it was disguising to the point I could not eat it. I asked our server for a manager and was told “I am the manager”. I do not recommend this diner. They need to get their act together and the quality of food was pathetic. It is obvious they do not care about their customers or their reputation. I doubt they will stay open.More

Don’t eat here for the decor, go for the food. Excellent western omelet with plenty of hash browns. Filled my drink three times. Wife had grilled chicken sandwich which was tasty. Nice stop before antiquing at Midway.

Stopped for lunch with my grandson and his girlfriend after antiquing at the Midway Antique Mall. Seated immediately. Waitress was very attentive and friendly without being a nuisance. We started with a plate of fried mushrooms which were cold inside and greasy. Obviously sat for...a long time. I ordered a scrambled egg plate with biscuits and sausage gravy. I misread the menu as I thought it came with potatoes. That was my error. Excellent and cooked perfectly. My grandson had the hamburger and the young lady had grilled cheese. Well cooked. We ordered unsweetened ice tea which was terrific and strong enough to make your teeth hurt. Perfect. Only glitch was the fact that the only public restrooms in the entire complex were closed. Porta-potties set up outside but not nearly enough of them. This could have bern a disaster.More

Midway is one of those old comfortable places the locals go for coffee and breakfast. The staff is friendly, the service very good and portions generous. Sounds like just about everything you would want in a cozy family-friendly place but that's just the good part....The bad part is that it looks old, dingy and worn out. Located in the truck stop that was featured on the travel channel it has been around for a long time and looks it. There is a good breakfast to be had if the looks of the place don't scare you away. I haved not eaten any other meals there so can't comment on the lunch or dinner entrees.More

Came here for a high school graduation celebration. We were seated at 5 p.m., our orders were sent to the kitchen at 5:15. Although the appetizers came quick enough, our food was not served until 6 p.m. AND. Six of seven orders were either wrong...or cold. The excellent server did her best but could not make up for the slow, inefficient kitchen. Even the replacement food took forever. It was not busy--there were maybe 12 people total, including our party of seven. I ordered chicken fried steak, hash browns, and scrambled eggs with whole wheat toast. Perfectly cooked with a great flavor (especially the cream gravy) but stone cold. After waiting 45 minutes I was not inclined to return the plate.I had to wait for fresh ice tea to be made but it was worth the wait. The nachos appetizer basically saved the meal and was the only part of my meal served at the correct temperature. My granddaughter ordered waffle fries and received regular fries. Her mother ordered a Western Omelette and received something resembling the Santa Fe omelette. Her uncle received the Western omelette when he ordered the Santa Fe. There were items in each omelette which were not in the menu description and since both individuals have food allergies, could have proved disastrous. Luckily it did not. The other grandmother ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gray and cole slaw. Her mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy. The replaments were better but by the time they arrived, she was no longer in a mood to eat them. Our server (as well as the lady who seated our party) was mortified and apologized profusely but she was not in the kitchen. To make it worse, management personnel were absent so there was no one available to comp our meals or make any other adjustments. Quite honestly, it will be awhile before I give this place another chance.More

I have been going here since the 1970s. A Columbia institution for breakfast, known for their biscuits and gravy, Midway has a full menu. The portions are huge and homestyle. The restaurant is big with a counter and large tables to accommodate families. Service has...always been excellent; if you are friendly with the staff, they will be friendly with you. There is no "thankuouhaveaniceday" attitude. Everything is home grown.More

Service started off good and went down hill after that fast. The lady forgot our water and coffee order right off the start. When our food was ready we waited and watched as she took pitchers of ??? in a back room. WE did get...our food after it sat in the window for sometime. No need to say anything about or food you can guess, just truck stop food.More

After reading reviews on various sites, we didn't have high expectations but this was a long overdue stop on one of our vacations. When we first walked in, it certainly looked a little worn. Restrooms were fine enough despite previous reviews we had seen. Service...was good from start to finish. Food was good. Husband enjoyed biscuits and gravy which was a huge portion. I enjoyed the homemade chips that came with my sandwich. All in all a good experience.More

The Midway truck stop is not the place to stop on I70. I needed air in my tire. I stopped at the tire shop/tow shop and the guy told me they were closed and I would have to go up on the hill for air....One of the employees at the truck stop was sitting outside and watched me struggle for 5 min. Thank goodness there was a kind trucker who stopped to help me. The employee could have told me I need to put $1.50 in the machine. No he watched me struggle and let the air out of the tire. As the truck said the universe gives you back what you give it. The employee has some bad karma.More

The deal for one trip to salad and soup bar is $4.99 and unlimited trip to salad and soup bar is $9.99. Mom and I ordered the one trip. We each received a good size salad bowl which fills up fast by what was placed...into the salad bowl. Nice cup of soup. That was more than enough to eat. Mom and I were satisfied. As we were walking in a family of 4 was walking out and mom overheard them and mom asked are you saying "excellent food and service.?" They said, "YES."More

The Midway restaurant has improved recently. I had the patty melt with homemade chips and my husband had the fire pit burger with chips. They were both very good. They serve breakfast all day and have a couple of specials every day. They also have...a salad bar and lots of desserts. The servers are friendly and food arrives fairly quickly. Portions are large and prices reasonable. There is a gas station, convenience store, motel, boot store, tattoo parlor and antique mall on this property right off exit 121 on I-70 west of Columbia. Travel Channel bring the show back!! We loved Joe and the gang!!More
