This was our first time at Tony’s and foursome enjoyed ourselves! We loved the new location & atmosphere — not stuffy, but a cool, comfy, modern vibe. Bravo! Our other positives: the Linguine with Shrimp & Lobster was very good, as was the Canelloni and...the Veal Trio. The Quail & Beef Tenderloin was good but not great, & the Tiramisu was so-so (Del Pietro’s is so much better!). The yummy Brandy Alexanders ((w/ice cream) for dessert would have been spectacular if they had a pinch of nutmeg. On the service, there were two standouts: the AA guy with the goatee (whose b-day is May 18th!) was absolutely outstanding — so welcoming, funny, and efficient). The wine steward was also great — recommended a fabulous Brunello (we picked up a 1/2 case of it the next day…) and a great sense of humor. Sadly,, our main waiter — tall, thin, older guy — was unfriendly, snobby, & plain rude. He never smiled, acted like it was an intrusion that we had to ask what the soup of the day was and the risotto of the day (Why didn’t he tell us to begin with when he reviewed the specials?) — and when my husband asked what was in the Canneloni (because the menu didn’t say) he acted like we were all stupid and said in disgust, ‘It’s a Canneloni: spinach, chicken, and (something else I don’t remember)’. Well SORRY!!! I’ve had Canneloni in the US, in Italy, and I’ve made it at home, and there are all different kinds, fella! And finally, we loved that the owner/manager stopped by our table just to visit.More
