So living near the restaurant Ive driven by many times but have always wanted to go in. My dad is visiting from Florida and we thought we try it out finally. He ordered the sea scallops and I ordered the barbecue salmon… After eating food like cucumbers bisque , and goat cheese stuffed mushrooms we were pretty flabbergasted. We then... More

We had heard good things about this restaurant. We had reservations for two. We were seated at a long communal table. The tables I saw that had reserved signs on them were for parties of four or more. There appeared to be only one server for the room. There were about 40 patrons in the restaurant. My husband ordered bacon... More

Our group of family and friends visited Balaban's for Sunday brunch. We found a nice variety of items, salads, beef brisket-really good, eat and peel shrimp, pasta, carving station and included tea and coffee. The weakest part of their offering was the desserts, which all looked like store bought. The brunch was worth it and would recommend. Our server Jasmine... More

We were very underwhelmed with our visit to Balaban's. First, it is quite noisy and not conducive to conversation. Secondly, the server really lacked professionalism. Guess it's a pet peeve, but when four mature people go to a fairly upscale place they shouldn't be referred to as 'guys'. The food was acceptable and pleasant looking. No bread was served. My... My daughter and I stopped by for dinner. While they do have some of the old recipes from the other restaurant, the two are really not connected. We each had a 1/2 salad.ine was the shaved asparagus salad w greens, parm and pancetta. Delicious and beautifully prepared. The flatbread was really good and the crab cakes were spectacular. Great flavor... More

We went to Balaban's because we had frequently went by it and it seemed like an interesting place to try. It was okay. We went on a very, very quiet Saturday afternoon and had sandwiches. The sandwiches were fine - nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I will say that the french fries were amazing! Additionally we had ordered the... More

When this first opened they had many problems...should never have called themselves Balabans since some of us dined there often & loved it. I don't know if they've changed chefs but after ignoring it for close to a year, we decided to give this neighborhood choice another try & we've now been back several times for both lunch & dinner...everything... Upon arrival host was full of energy. This is a nice, friendly environment. I was able to taste 4 different selection of wine & we purchase a bottle with our lunch. The fish tacos were delicious!!!! I will come back to visit. My friend order the lobster ravioli.

We had Easter brunch with our family and it far exceeded our expectations by offering the most delicious versions of a classic brunch buffet. The array of salads and desserts as well as cold shrimp, Eggs Benedict, custom omelets and cajun French toast were a real treat. The hot entrees were all interesting and tasty. Although the entire place was... More

Stopped in on an impulse - Friday night around 7. Got a table right away despite smallish seating area. The way they sell wine is awesome. You can order from a list or shop a retail space (slightly higher than retail) and pay $8 corkage fee and get a real bargain here versus any restaurant you can imagine. Steve, the... More
