This place was hoppin on a Saturday for lunch. A great local spot for food and drinks. The service was great, and the food tasted authentic. The only thing holding me back from rating higher was that the staff seemed overwhelmed and the foot came...to as as though it had been sitting for a while. Otherwise, we'll be back to try it again!More

Great service, Mariclare is a awesome server. Gumbo was very good, with side of corn bread. Love the bluesy background music.

Service was very good. The food was amazing. Generous portions and flavored to perfection. Not too spicy. Nice atmosphere in a historical building. Everything is priced very reasonable Will be back again

We've been eating at Broussard's for almost 35 years and spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars there. It's changed hands. There are no prices on the menu, service is awful, and lunch cost us eighty bucks. We won't be back.

After seeing on trip advisor that broussards was rated at the top of the list for cape girardeau restaurants, my wife and I decided to give it a try. It was literally the worst overall experience we have ever had dining out. The restaurant was...nearly empty on Saturday evening which should have been a sign that we shouldn't have overlooked. We both ordered fried catfish plates and fries. She ordered a cup of gumbo. I ordered onion rings for an appetizer. 45 minutes later we received our cold onion rings which would have been good if served warm. Shortly thereafter our entree plates arrived. The cajun fries were good. The wife tried a hushpuppy which was absolutely raw in the middle. Mine were no better. The gumbo was like no gumbo we ever had in MS or LA and we lived there for 15 years. The wife said it tasted really old. On to the catfish....wow is all I can say. It was absolutely undercooked. Completely mushy in the middle. The batter was more like something that should have been on chicken versus a more cornmeal based southern style fried fish. It was absolutely inedible. Unfortunately we both tried to eat the thinner ends of the filets. It was a bad mistake as the toliet at the nearly hobby lobby can attest too. We were both absolutely sick when we left the restaurant. I should have refused to pay for the meal. Sending it back would have most likely resulted in another plate of inedible greasy chicken battered fish paste. I would definitely skip broussards and spend half as much at captain Ds or long John's or just eat fish sticks at Home. They are all much better options.More

My wife and I tried smothered chicken, crawdad etouffee, gator etouffee, shrimp Creole, seafood Gumbo, Jambalya, and Cajun fries. All cooked to perfection. Amazing southern flavors. The service was fantastic, and the price was very reasonable. You don’t want to miss this one.

Horrible service. It literally took all afternoon. Little girl behind bar worked her butt off while young guy in black t-shirt casually strolled around doing NOTHING!! Do not recommend Sunday afternoon 4 sure!!!

11:47 4 S Stephanie Finke ^ just now NEW Dine in Dinner $20-30 This was the second (and last) bad dining experience at Broussard's in Cape Girardeau. The service was slow, the staff was insensitive and rude, and the food was nothing worth coming back...for. It took nearly an hour to get dinner at 8:00pm when the restaurant was slow. Then after being told by a waiter that we could move away from the loud kitchen where my hard of hearing guest had difficulty conversing, the hostess came and told us that we had to move again because the table was intended for four and we only had two. Finally, the shrimp in the shrimp creole were the size and toughness of overcooked canned shrimp in generic tomato sauce seasoned with black pepper, the shrimp stir fry was some wilted overcooked vegetable mixture from a frozen mix with more of the canned shrimp sized shrimp, and the salads were straight from a generic bagged mixture. Won't be back. Food: 1/5 Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 1/5More

I heard about the all you can eat gumbo and thought I would try it. Having grown up in Mississippi and lived in coastal Texas I have a taste for good gumbo. This was not good gumbo. The secret to good gumbo is in the...flavor of the roux. Authentic roux has a smoky, almost burned taste and the color before adding the other ingredients is a deep brown color, like milk chocolate. The cook there rushed the roux and basically made a quick gravy. The fish is good, the fried foods are good, the red beans are good, but not the gumbo.More

Looking for somewhere different in the Cape and this pops up as first in the area. Rating is high, with lots of glowing reviews, so off we go to try it. Cute downtown area, but was not impressed with the vibe given off by the...restaurant. Just seemed a little tired. Everyone from the host to our waitress was extremely friendly and that helped, but overall the vibe just didn’t feel right. The menu does not have prices on it. That is a first in all my years. You have to look at an online menu to see prices. Odd. We decided on a shrimp poboy and jambalaya. Both were huge. The portion size is easily sharable. But that’s the only good thing. The taste was very average. The chicken in the jambalaya was hard and dried. The sausage was better, but the sticky sweet creole sauce was unexpected. I have never had jambalaya like this. Not bad, but not great. The poboy was dressed with mayo and ketchup. I have never experienced this, either. The sandwich was okay at best. The shrimp were def. little frozen ones you can buy at any bulk store. All in all, better than a meal at a chain restaurant, but I would not see reason to return.More

We were looking for a nice, sit down meal to break up our 5 1/2 hour drive home. Found Broussard’s on Trip Advisor and decided to check out the menu. Everything looked good so we took a chance. Our waitress, Miranda, did a great job....She was very friendly and attentive. The food was great. It reminded us of the food we used to get when we lived in south Louisiana. Very flavorful and plentiful. Don’t forget the Bread Pudding. Very good choice.More

I came to Broussard’s for lunch. I ordered the lunch stir fry with shrimp. The meal tasted really good and flavorful. Good portions as well. The stir fry also had veggies mixed in as well. Sliced peppers too. Service at Broussard’s was excellent. Felt like...the owners and staff cared about the restaurant a lot. Enjoyed my time there, and would come back if in Cape Girardeu.More
