Our week in Branson brought us to the quaint Christmas store Kringles at the Grand Village Shops. We enjoyed the walk through and shopping at the other local shops around it. Once finished, we chose to stop at the diner there. So glad we did. We found a great place to sit and enjoy. The wait staff is not only some of the friendliest we found, they are also some very talented singers that you will find entertaining you at the venues. We were quite impressed. Now, onto the food. Their menu items are what you would find at most diners. Only exception, they are sized for a hungry man. My friend chose the sweet surrender club. This sandwich filled half of the plate. I chose the chick-a-boom croissant. This was the bet croissant I have ever had. And it was filled with delicious chicken salad. Both of us were very pleased with our choices. Our husbands each decided on burgers, the smoke gets in your eyes and the 16 ton chili burger. We all had food left on our plates and were unable to enjoy the decadent dessert offerings. This required a second visit, when our stomachs were not sated. Let me tell you, these are not made for a sissy. When they tell you that it's piled high, they are not kidding. The rock around chocolate stood around six inches high. There scoops of ice cream are very large. Don't expect to leave without feeling full.

Had family dinner for 6 - food was delicious and the singing waiters were fun to watch. We were running late to attend a show and the staff worked closely with us to make sure we finished in time for the show. Save room for the ice cream desserts - we didn't have time to eat one but the adjacent tables had them and we saw that they are huge and look to be fun to share.

Honestly it was a 15% Discount Coupon that brought us into Mel’s Hard Luck Diner - but the great food & warm family atmosphere made us glad we came. We throughly enjoyed our delicious Turkey Burger with a generous serving season fries. The Rueben was a bit too moist (we prefer a toasted marble rye bread instead of soggy) The family atmosphere of a 50’s Diner complete with singing waitresses & waiters was a wonderful surprise. This a another reason to spend some time & invest some money in the heartland of America. Bring your family to Branson to restore your faith in best and most caring people in our country.

I was extremely disappointed as the reviews raves about the place. 1. Food was sub par. Ordered chili which was cold. Ordered hamburger and it was overcooked. Our server didn’t even ask how we want it cooked? We ordered a Philly cheesesteak and the meat was barely cooked. Singing server was good but we also came for the food. Especially the food. Wish it was better.

We visited Mel's for dinner. We had a group of 20 adults and 7 kids. We sat at different tables as we knew we wouldn't be able to sit together but we had a wonderful time! Our server was great, the atmosphere was fabulous and the food was excellent! I had wanted to go here as it is an old soda pop diner and I was not disappointed. The hamburgers and huge and I could have split it with my husband. The malt was excellent and I was surprised by the quantity you get. Most places bring you a small shake but here you get the small shake then you get the rest of the container so you actually get two shakes for the price of one. The servers serenade you will you wait for your food and they can really sing well! They don't just sing oldies either. Our waitress sang a song from Moana that my granddaughters loved. Thank you for making our day. I couldn't believe how quickly our food came and how delicious it was. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I was driving along the strip and wasn't going to stop at a chain, seafood, or steak restaurant. I happen to see the sign out of the corner of my eye and thought lets try this. I knew nothing about this place but hey a diner sure we can get something here. We were setting quickly and told our water was Jimmy and he would be right with us. A couple of minutes went by and Jimmy finally came over after I hear a man singing. I was oblivious that it was our waiter at the time. The place was busy but was quick. We had our drinks within 2 minutes of him walking away. The food took about 10 minutes for three people ( two burgers entrees and kids entree) and was fresh. When the burger is bigger than the bun I can say the portions were large. IT was while I was waiting on the food that I realized the waiter/ess also sing. One of the waiters will sing a song typically 50"s or 60's song but there was a more gospel song once. When they are finished singing they say their name and tell you about their cd(s) available in the gift shop. WE didn't order dessert but saw a couple come out and they were huge.

Mel’s Hard Luck Diner is always a favorite dining location whenever we are in Branson. Mel’s is always busy and hopping. The waiters and waitresses not only take your food and beverage orders, deliver your prepared food and refill your drinks; They take turns singing old classics and other popular songs. Some of the performers are professionally trained. All are looking for the opportunity to earn a living and do what they enjoy. Sarah Joy was a delight to have as our waitress and she delighted the diners as she strolled around the dining area. She made each table of diners feel that she was singing just for them. Chadd is another great waiter and he sang a song that he sings to his own child. The children and adults all enjoyed his singing. He mentioned that he also sang in a musical show in Branson that we already had tickets for, Pierce Arrow. Sure enough, when there, he was singing lead in the show. No review of Mel’s would be complete without mentioning their GINORMOUS Climb Every Mountain Ice Cream Avalanche. It will be enough to fill the family’s sweet tooth and still have plenty to take out. Their sundaes are piled high as well. If you miss Mel’s when in Branson, you will be missing a Real Treat all the way around.

In previous visits we had only stopped for ice cream, this time we were in for dinner.¹ We both got their burgers and fries, what else would you get at diner the first time. The burgers were fresh and flavorful, along with ha ing fresh hot Christy french fries. It was a very pleasant atmosphere with live music. It is a regular stop for our ice cream fix, but now for meals as well.

Be prepared for a short wait but it’s no problem since the restaurant is located within a beautiful shopping area that is a very enjoyable way to pass the time. We waited about 35 minutes on a Sunday around 2pm. When we got inside, we loved the extremely talented performers/servers. And the service we received was the absolute best we’ve experienced ANYWHERE at any price point in YEARS!!! Well done team! Everyone looked genuinely happy to be there and it showed. Thank you all! Oh, and the food portions are huge! We didn’t eat again for 24 hours! The desserts looked divine (my husband loved his chocolate shake) but if you’re looking for a split, sundae or anything else in that category, order one and get a few spoons. Great visit!!

So with a plethora of overpriced restaurants in Branson Mel's Last resort was a welcome surprise. At first I was hesitant since most "gimmick" eateries are very overpriced with horrible food and poor front of house service. Mel's was the complete opposite with yummy dishes with large portions. (The banana split was enough four four adults). Also not only was the food excellent and value, the servers are very talented singers that make the dinner a very special.

Definitely a fun time. The wait staff take turns singing during the meals. They had music CDs for sale at reasonable prices and they were certainly very good. While the food was certainly great and large portions, the ice cream quality and portions had many people making comments about the large amount that was served. A must go to for ice cream lovers.

loved the atmosphere, the food and the service. We thought there was a great selection on the menu and loved that the waitstaff also entertained while they worked. Everyone was so friendly and kind and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

For the feel of a 50/60s diner, Mel's is the place to go. Wait staff was very friendly. Some of the wait staff sing while you dine, which is a unique experience. Got the hamburger/cheeseburger and it is a full 1/2lb patty, cooked to perfection. They got it down. I got onion rings and wife got fries. I opted for a vanilla malt and it was the best I have had in yrs. If you are in Branson, check out Mel's Hard Luck Diner. You won't be disappointed.

The singing servers are for real. Picture karaoke but it's your waiter/waitress singing as they walk around the restaurant. When we went it was very quiet (during Covid so few people out and we arrived after regular lunch hours) so it was a tiny bit strange. We got the full attention of the servers since we were the only ones there and it felt weird for someone to be singing to you while you're eating. Singing was good and the staff was friendly and kind. Food was yummy and almost everyone was happy. I had chili and a chicken salad sandwich. Chicken salad was good, chili was ok. Several had the cheesesteak and it was big and yummy. Pot roast sandwich (open faced hot sandwich with gravy) was not liked at all and made my husband sick. The kids spaghetti and meatballs was yummy (kid friendly and plain), chicken strips were meh. The kids got ice cream for dessert and I swear it was about 5 scoops of vanilla ice cream. The waiter had to bring extra bowls and spoons. Very yummy treat! They have a little gift shop and the decor was retro fun. I would come again.

We love Mel’s Hard Luck Diner! The food is really good diner fare. Great burgers, fries and milkshakes but the real stars are the servers who take turns singing a wide variety from gospel to country to classic rock. So. Much. Fun!
