About
In 1984 Larry and Jeanette Rogers made the move of their dreams. They loved the Ozark Mountains and while they owned their own restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana their hearts belonged to Missouri. With each other, they took a leap of faith. Starvin' Marvin's was originally in a log cabin just west of Silver Dollar City. As Branson boomed, Starvin' Marvin's moved to the "strip." Locals came to enjoy the quality of their homemade food. Cashew and Sweet & Sour chicken, hand battered onion rings, smoked BBQ ribs and saddle blanket sized pork tenderloin were just a few of the favorites. In 1994, they decided to bring some of their own heritage Cajun cooking into Marvin's. Known for their "seafood with a Cajun attitude" the addition was a success. Customers come for the All You Can Eat Seafood Buffet and "The best legs in town." In August of 2019, after years of serving their customers, their son Duane purchased Starvin' Marvin's from them to continue the family legacy.

It was a limited buffet but fairly decent priced for the quality of the food. Tables were clean, and the buffet was continuously restocked with fresh items. I really enjoyed the baked fish & the fried shrimp. The steamed vegetable medley was pretty good but the green beans were a little too firm for my preference. I would have liked to have seen more keto options (more vegetable specifically) but know that it’s a specialty diet and not everywhere can accommodate that specific dietary lifestyle. They offered crab legs at $14.99/lb which was about 3 claws. Some of the pieces were a little smaller than I would have liked but it tasted good. The kept out drinks refilled and checked in frequently but not enough to be obnoxious about it.

Not impressed with starvin marvins. I got crab legs and they were good but I think they found the smallest snow crabs they could find to serve. My wife got pot roast and it was pretty good but over all I was pretty disappointed.

Food took over 45 mins to come to the table after ordering from menu. Waitress did not not have a good attitude after asking how much longer it would be on the food. Food came & it was over salted. Will not eat here again.

My wife wanted to go out to eat breakfast for Mother’s Day. Starvin’ Marvins was the only place that we could find that was open, and the sign out front said “Best Breakfast Buffet in Branson”, so we went in. What a disaster THAT became! The buffet was tiny, and most of the food bins were empty. There were no hash browns, no pancakes, no French toast, no waffles, and no butter. The biscuits were hard and dry, as were the sausage patties. The grits were more liquid than anything else. I got some scrambled eggs and went to our table and ate them. I went back to the buffet to see if there were any hash browns yet, but there weren’t. There was French toast so I got some, and put syrup in the tiny plastic containers they provide for that. I took it back to our table and asked the waitress for some butter. She went into the back, then brought to our table a dish of margarine packets. MARGARINE?!? Star in’ Marvin’s is NOT “Branson’s Best Breakfast Buffet” as they claim. That was the most pathetic excuse for a buffet I have ever seen! They charged us half price for my wife’s food, but full price for me, and all I ate was a few bites of scrambled eggs. UNBELIEVABLE!!! If I could rate this joint negative numbers, I would. So ghetto.

Wow, I do apologize that you did not enjoy your experience. Yes, mothers do eat for half-price on Mother’s Day. Yes, our amazing breakfast buffet is half the size it usually is right now, to meet the 6 foot restrictions on the Buffet to keep with city guidelines. We cannot have both sides of the buffet open at this time, as that is only a 4 foot distance and not a 6 foot. We do however have a full menu available each day while all the Covid restrictions are still in place. Thank you for making us aware of your dissatisfaction with the measures have been put in place.

First of all, the service was below par. From when the gentleman/host sat us to when we paid at the cashier, all of then seen to not have a personality. The only time our server refilled our drinks was after she brought our bill and we were getting ready to leave. The crab legs I ordered extra ($14 extra for a pound) were pretty good. The seafood "buffet" was so so. The corn was very good along with peel and eat shrimp. The breaded butterfly shrimp was not so good. The breading fell off as I touched it. Overall, I was very disappointed and will not return. The price was above average but I think that is only because it is in a tourist town.

We ate here for supper one night. Were offered a buffet that really offered a lot! Had a great choice of different seafoods and the price wasn't too bad, $20 per person. If you are really hungry, this is the place! The service was good, the atmosphere was great. Food was served up hot and fresh and just like we ordered!

New Year’s Eve 2019—My daughter & I stopped in to Starvin’ Marvin’s for dinner—1st visit. We were originally seated in the buffet section; however, no waitress came to greet us , so we asked to be seated in another area. The waitress took our order & we shortly had our meals served. We both ordered the blackened catfish, I had the fish dinner & my daughter had the fish tacos. Instead of the fish being crisp & flaky, it was soggy & mushy and very difficult to eat. (I was asked my I didn’t tell the waitress)—I didn’t want complain since it was New Year’s Eve night and ruin mine, my daughter & the waitress’s night. I called the restaurant a couple days later after returning home & spoke to Debbie; she was not very pleasant. She said she had customers in at that very moment which were returning for the 3rd-4th time this week. She said she was too busy to talk to me and to call back the next day and talk to Jeff, the manager....so I did. He told me, he was there that night & he would talk to the cook that worked that night. I expressed to him our disappointment & we do not plan to return to Starvin’ Marvin’s. His response was to contact him if/when we plan to return. I don’t believe we will change our minds about returning after my stomach being sick all of New Year’s Eve night.

So off we go two hours to eat and man let me tell you did we do some of that there eatin Crawfish was hot, frog legs almost jumpin out of that skillet, but new on menu was hand breaded shrimp. They bread their own now I’ve read a couple of reviews about them that ain’t so good recon them New Yorkers or somthig. Any how darn good today and mgr. tells me they serve an old fashion breakfast buffet home made pancakes waffles ham sausage and biscuits with honest sausage gravey. Recon we just have to try that out.

This was the worst experience money wise I have ever had in Branson. We paid $11.99 for a kids buffet and added crab legs at market price which was $20.00 but because the waitress said that would be about 3 clusters we went ahead and ordered thinking they would be nice sized crab but when they brought them they were so small you could hardly peel them out. What a RIP off and the buffet was bad too. Won't be back

Locals told us that this would be a good breakfast spot, however, the buffet was terrible. We asked to order off the menu and was told that the chef was extremely slow. There were minimal eggs on the buffet and they were lukewarm at best. The ham was dried and fatty. We were disappointed to find out the owners were from South Louisiana where we’re from. We were really hoping for a decent breakfast and were sadly disappointed.

We had planned to eat at Denneys- but they wer not open. so wenr to our first ever meal at Starvin Marvin's...great variety of delicious breakfast foods including fresh fruits! Coffee was great too! We were impressed of the gloves available to wear getting foods and hand sanitizer available...AND the kitchen staff often cleaned around the foodline and changed spoons/ladels for clean ones! Greeter was friendly and waitress was too! Meal a bit pricey but delicious and all freshly made.

This was advertised as a seafood buffet, but there was no real seafood on the buffet. There was some fried shrimp and fried fish, but don't expect any fried clams, lobster or even crab legs. You can however purchase crab legs separately or there is a coupon available where I could get a free pound of crab legs with purchase of two buffets. The food was good, just not the seafood buffet I was expecting.

The seafood buffet was delicious! People complain about the price but for the type of food you get it seems on point. Frog legs, crawfish, shrimp and gumbo to name some of the items on it. All was great! Mac n cheese noodles were over cooked but still good. Service was great, restaurant clean and buffet well stocked. Waitress kept drinks filled and dirty plates quickly removed from table. All employees deserve a well earned kudos! My wife and I ate here for our anniversary dinner. Worth the money!

We were told by a hostess at Starvin Marvin’s they had the best breakfast buffet in Branson, and being a breakfast lover we decided to get up a little early and go. Very disappointed!! Biscuits were way over done, hard and dry. We suggested they bring out fresh and were told “they’re only hard on the outside, the inside is soft”. Could not cut through the outside with a fork. Hashbrowns tasted like they were cooked in old oil and greasy, no fresh fruit only canned, the bacon was fatty and tasted “aged”. I did not go back for the “all you can eat” as once was too much, and $10.99 was a reasonable price if more attention was given to food quality and keeping buffet freshened. No manager visited our table after sharing our concerns! There are other breakfast buffets in Branson we will choose next time.

My wife and I stopped in 3/21/21 for lunch, was seated quickly, we sat for 10 minutes with no service, lots of waitresses around, walked by our table several times. They were even wrapping silverware on the table right behind us. Never was waited in, finally walked out
