Had black pudding scotch egg with parsnip purée to start. Braised rib of beef, followed by cheese and biscuits. Service was friendly and efficient, without feeling rushed. Food was excellent, well presented, a step up from the usual pub fare, but without the generally associated...More

The service was very good; attentive but no too much. The food was reasonably presented with a variety of fresh vegetables. However the menu lacked variety and was very restricted.

A gem in the middle of the village, fabulous setting near the church. Went with a party of twenty friends and pre-ordered from the menu. Everyone was well catered for, great food all arriving together. The meals, service and hospitality were wonderful and great attention...More

Great food, as always. Service good, on a busy Sunday service. Never felt rushed or encouraged to finish and go. Great coffee for those of us who didn't have the lovely puddings. Would always recommend. Beware, they close on Tuesdays.

Why? Because they have the best twicebaked soufflés and home made chutney and they remember that's what my mum loves, even when she can no longer remember. For the rest of us, the food has always been good country pub grub but has gone up...More

In fairness the food here is usually good but there is no atmosphere, the dining room is clinical, lighting awful. Room between bar and dining room is just an empty space that doesn't work. Staff are always pleasant but the place needs a makeover and...More

We met friends for Sunday lunch and were very impressed. Surroundings are smart and spacious, staff friendly and efficient. Two meat choices, one fish and one vegetarian on the menu, very tasty food and well presented. Good choice of puds and comprehensive wine list. Will...More

Celebrated my 18th Birthday here and was so so pleased I did. My parents said it was very easy to organise with the owner helping to plan every aspect of the preordered menu to suit all tastes. 23 of us attended in total with a...More

Jeanne F is quite right. May I suggest a search for Lincoln Hotels - there are two Premier Inns in the city, plus numerous others. Gainsborough has the Hickman Hill 2 star hotel which I know many people favour.
