We went for lunch and immediately loved the atmosphere. The colors of the interior décor were lovely, as were the wall murals painted to resemble brick, stone, and marble. We especially appreciated the temperature of the room, which was comfortably pleasant. Usually I absolutely freeze...inside most restaurants, but this dining room was neither cold nor warm--it was just right. Also, the overhead music was good old nostalgic melodies by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Andrea Boccelli, etc.--in other words, it wasn't blasting rock music being forced on us, which would have completely destroyed the Italian vibe. As for the meal, we found our manicotti and fettucini alfredo with chicken to be just average. Nothing wonderful there. The complimentary bread was appreciated, but on the bland side, as was the dipping oil, and we didn't think to add to it from condiments on the table, as another reviewer suggested. The cheesecakes we both had for dessert, however, were really great. They were the real thing, not industrial or cheap stuff. I don't know if they made it in-house or brought it in, but either way, the cheesecakes were the best part of our meal. As for the service, unfortunately it was not very good. There were only the two of us and one other table occupied at lunchtime on a Friday but we had to wait about 15 minutes for the waiter to refill our empty glasses, and that was only after I waved him over. Still, he was pleasant and very nice. He just needed to be a bit more attentive, especially when there was no excuse I could see for him not to take better care of us. Bottom line, we might try this restaurant again to sample two more dishes (and more cheesecake), just because other reviewers had such great experiences here. They got the ambience perfectly right. Maybe next time, the service and the food will be better.More
