There is lots very good about the Dikes Head. The first thing that attracted us was the menu. The Sunday Lunch menu has a choice of 4 meat and 1 vegetarian roast. And vegetarians are very well catered for elsewhere on the menu too. The table we were offered was excellent. The staff helpful, pleasant and competent. Service-wise the only... More

Last time we visited this place was excellent. Went for a celebration Sunday lunch and had the roasts. Not only was the roast expensive (£15-£17) but I can't remember ever being served food as poor quality as this - see photo. At least 25% of the beef was inedible gristle. We asked for more which duly arrived and was just... More

Welcoming pub on a roundabout, but far enough away to ignore the traffic. On a sunny day we chose to eat outside and make the most of our summer. The menu is wide and varied with some fixed price choices of 2 or 3 courses. the 4 of us found what we wanted and had the soup (announced delicious -... More

We use this restaurant whenever we are travelling from Gatwick airport. The menu is very interesting with a good choice of meats, fish and vegetarian. Certainly not run of the mill. Good choice of non-alcoholic drinks as well as nice wine list. The staff is always pleasant and welcoming and there is a lovely feel about the place.

First visit, found by chance, initially concerned as staff member did not speak great English but he took our order and it was perfect. We are both vegetarian and had a good choice on the menu, the pear with the soufflé was fantastic, the Etonian mess with mango and strawberry was great too. Would like to visit again to try... More

Very busy place, so booked in advance as there was 10 of us. The service was slow the food wasn't great for the price, doubtful if I would go there again.

We had dinner here as part of a group of 8. This had been described to us as a better than normal gastro pub, and as a result I think we were expecting something special. The pub itself is obviously very popular and is nicely decorated and has a good feel about it. The menu is extensive - perhaps a... More
