Invited some friends to join us. Sometimes worry in case quality is not so good midweek, but this was not the case here. Whether we had specials or items from the main menu, all dishes were prepared with great care and were excellent quality. Service too very good.

This is a well appointed old coaching inn/farm set in the peak district. Ample parking. Food excellent if a bit pricey. Plenty of choice on the menu. Bar well stocked, real ales a bonus for the beer connoisseur!! Well worth a visit for either food or drink!

Easy to book by telephone. Good welcome on arrival. Very small table for 4 adults for a dinner reservation. Very large wine glasses cluttering space which were not removed when only two took wine. Varied menu which read well. Food presented well however Venison a little cold and tough (? Under cooked) on both orders. Duck flavoursome however also on... More

It was a lovely autumnal day when we arrived at this quaint 16th century inn. There was a roaring fire and a lovely ambience about the place. We were shown to a spotlessly well decorated room where tea making facilities were more than adequate. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower was lovely. The bed was also really comfortable... More

We booked here primarily because we love walking and the Chequers Inn is in a great location. Our stay here was really enjoyable, the room was clean with fresh linen and towels. We had our evening meals here, the choices were good, varied and delicious, breakfast too was perfect to set us up for several hours walking. As has been... More

We stayed at the Chequers Inn for a special birthday and it was a really lovely stay - very warm welcome, beautiful bedroom with four poster bed and prosecco on arrival, delicious dinner and even better breakfast! We will definitely be back.

The 4 of us had a great evening meal. The staff are very good and the service is very good. Soup and Starters were very good. Mains were good Desserts were very good You need to book as it was full with 2 covers on most tables on a Saturday night.

To be honest I only came here because the Merchants yard a few villages away was fully booked (its like that for a good reason). The chequers is a very quaint little pub in a stunning location however, unfortunately it was pretty average fare. For a start the place was dead which didn't fill me with much hope but the... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, but were disappointed to read some of your comments. We apologise if your welcome was not as it should have been. A lot of our front of house staff are regularly singled out on TripAdvisor for praise, so this is disappointing. The dishes on our menu is a mix of... More

We booked here as have tried to drop in and found all tables reserved (which always seems like a good sign to me). My wife had the chilli prawn starter and I had the goat's cheese. Both excellent. We then had the braised beef. Very tasty and just the right amount. In fact so good we spent some time discussing... More
