Went for final meal before lock down. Of course the menu is going to be limited of course it is. The issue was very poor service. The establishment wasn’t busy and we said to a member of staff that the service was poor. (Various reasons)...The landlady said all we had done was set out for free food and they normally have nice customers. We have been many times and the food /service has been lovely : all our point was the service was terrible but no one would accept it. The landlady I appreciate is probably stressed at this difficult time but please don’t take it out on your customers. (Now ex customers and only because of how the landlady spoke to us. Terrible attitude ). Think the landlady would be suited to a back of house role. Argumentative and rude. So so sad.More

A welcome stop mid way on circular walk of Curbar, Froggatt and White Edge. Food, sandwiches, were good and beer too. Service was friendly and welcoming. Would recommend anyone wanting lunch in the area.

We enjoyed a perfect Saturday hearty lunch before setting off for Froggatt Edge. Good choice on the menu, friendly service and a proper authentic traditional pub setting. Thanks for a great visit

Having recently injured my ankle, I have not been able to get out walking, but a visit to the Grouse for their celebrated steak pie made up for it all. It's got to be the best pub in Derbyshire by a long mile. (Good Covid...measures in place too.)More

We love visiting The Grouse. Lovely family run pub (proper pub!). Food is good and service is friendly. Arrive with your boots on from a long walk on the Edge or pop up for a drink at the bar, either way you’ll get a warm...welcome and a lovely fire on cold nights.More

After a bracing walk along the White Edge, we got into The Grouse as soon as it opened. Given the strange world we live in at the moment, and knowing how popular the Grouse is usually, we didn't want to miss out! We weren't disappointed,...we chose to sit outside (despite the slight drizzle, it was just nice to be outside in a pub yard after all this time!). They have thought about their safety processes, which was good to know, and seemed to work well. The food as ever, was delicious, plentiful and satisfying - marvellous. I can't wait to go back under more normal circumstances - unless this is normal now, in which case, under any circumstances ;)More

We stopped in here as we came to the Peak District for the day. The food was amazing. I had the steak pie, my wife had the veggie lasagne. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If we are in this area again we will...definitely come back. Thank you guys.More
