A truly traditional pub serving a great range of real ale and bright beers. There is an extensive food menu and rooms available for overnight stay. Conveniently set on the A6 route with a local bus stop outside. Well worth a visit, open softer noons too which is a bonus in the area as most pubs only open after 5pm

A lovely traditional pub to go for food after a canal walk. Fresh homemade food, delicious pies, full of meat and proper chunky chips. Warm welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

We stayed here for one night and on entering the bar area, it had a cosy feel with the fire burning away and quite friendly locals. The bar lady showed us to our room which was clean but freezing cold. We returned to the bar and had a lovely meal. All the food that came out was well portioned and... More

Stopped off for a drink whilst walking along the canal. Always a good sign when plenty of locals in. Good selection of beers and although did not eat the menu looked good and tables were clean.

The cooking here is much better than standard pub fare. As well as the standard menu there are always specials available. Prices are very reasonable in relation to quality and portion size. Food was excellent overall. The homemade sticky toffee pudding wasn't sticky - more sponge pudding with toffee sauce so a bit disappointing and the homemade apple pie was... More

Took my parents here for dinner. Lovely food however I had teriyaki salmon dish which tasted great but was extremely small! I've had larger starters!

Stayed here as I needed to be near Buxton for a trade fair. Normal pub, nothing special, poor blinds, light very early in the morning. Did not eat here, they didn't seem very interested in providing breakfast when I was a little late
