They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait. I got there at almost 8:30 and being solo I got the last table in the back. The guitar player was great! Catfish was fantastic and top notch people watching.

This was my first trip to this restaurant that I had heard about since my son enrolled in Ole Miss in the fall. This is not a place you just happen to be driving by and think maybe I will stop in. It is well off the beaten path and in the middle of good old country living. You have... More
I had heard about how great the catfish were here. Everything I heard was right. BUT the veggies also were also great. The baked beans and fried okra were out of this world. Made from scratch or at least tasted as if they were. The service was great too as was the setting. A great place to eat and just... More
Taylor Grocery almost looks closed from the outside. But once in, the ambience, food and entertainment are first class. They are known for their catfish but i ordered the rib-eye steak and it was perfectly cooked and tender. The owners were there and couldn't have been more gracious. We were lucky enough to have a local band playing at the... More
It's a regular stop for locals and visitors alike. The Hewletts are top-notch hosts, and there's regular entertainment that's worth paying for. The catfish fillets are No. 1 and get however much you think you can hold. Steaks a solid, and there are good options for the little ones. It might not look like much from the outside, but you'll... My family and I were traveling into Oxford, MS fairly late and needed to make some dinner plans. We checked the website and learned that Taylor Grocery stayed open until 10pm so that was our choice. We arrived at 9:00 and were greeted coldly by a hostess that was apparently ready to go home. However, our server was very friendly... More
Great food but a long wait for a table. I recommend going after 8 if you do not want to wait over an hour for a table. The gumbo was one of the best I have had. Catfish was also one of the best I have had.
The ambiance of Taylor Grocery is unique with graffiti on the walls. They often have live music to add to the laid back, ramshackle approach. The service is excellent with everyone very friendly, making one feel at home. The fried catfish is out of this world.
