We arrived late on a Thursday evening and still had a good 30 min wait. Darn, wish I'd recalled it was BYOB. So once seated wait staff were awesome. Tried the catfish fillets and grilled shrimp. Shrimp was good, fried catfish was good but maybe...not quite as good as the best I'd ever eaten. But hold on, the desserts were as good as it gets. I'm sure on à slower weekday when they weren't slammed it's even better. Solid 4 out of 5 and only cause catfish wasn't to doe for like the desserts. Hostess and waitress were 5 stars. They made up for the minor over promised but still very good catfish.More

If you need the owners or their daughters help with anything please do not bother. Our son had a peanut allergy and we are not from Oxford so we had no idea this place may be an issue for us. We asked the waitress and...the owners daughter approached us very aggressively. So we decided to leave for the sake of the health of our 8 year old. She acted like she was offended we were leaving. As I am behind her she starts talking trash about my son to other customers. After we left we got several text from friends that stayed saying she was talking so bad about our son with a peanut allergy. I have never experienced such foul mouth backwoods kinda people. Terrible terribleMore

First time visit for our family after hearing so much about it and was not disappointed. Started out with the sausage, jalapeño and cheese plate. Very good. The bbq sauce tasted great. The catfish, fried okra, hush puppies and brown rice were delicious. The sweet...tea is really good. Excellent service. Got a peach cobbler and chocolate cobbler to go. Unique place to eat and definitely worth checking out.More

We had a great meal here with live music. They are known for their Catfish. Best my husband has ever had. We had a great time here. Don't let the looks of the building scare you away it is part of the charm.

my group of 4 arrived right at open, and quickly the place was packed. very tasty food, BYOB. fab solo blues musician playing. the owner/manager hopped up in front of the musician and loudly proclaimed to all in the restaurant that the musician was playing...for tips only, and so we all needed to be sure to tip him. my group found this in poor taste - black musician, all white restaurant audience, white owner/manager, restaurant clearly doing a very brisk business - but they don't pay the entertainment? owner/manager also took our cash tip off the table, which we'd *like* to think was given to our waitress, but all of us having spent time in the service industry, we know how that goes. and to top it off, it was MLK weekend. we won't be back, and we'll be sharing this story with others. Taylor Grocery, you can do better.More

A unique experience with excellent but simple food. The main thing we go for is the fried catfish. It is claimed to be the best and if it isn't is sure comes close. If you are in the area, it is the place you must...visit.More

Arrived about 10 minutes before they opened and there were already about 30 people waiting on the front porch. When the doors opened we were seated immediately. What an efficient and well run restaurant. We ordered a dozen fried oysters to start. The cornmeal batter...was delicious, they were well fried, not greasy, and moist. I had the Mississippi blackened catfish which I thought was an excellent preparation because the blackening spice added a lot of flavor to the very mild catfish. My sides were a very interesting brown rice with mushrooms, a very unique flavor that I enjoyed and turnip greens. My nephew had the Cajun pork which had a gumbo like sauce over the top of it. He enjoyed it so much that he wiped his plate clean with a piece of Texas toast. My husband also had grilled catfish and potato salad on the side. The potato salad was particularly good a very rich and creamy dressing. All of our plates came with hush puppies which had a bit of jalapeño inside and was quite good. We couldn’t leave without trying dessert. My husband loved the peach cobbler with ice cream and the pecan pie with some of the best that I have ever eaten. Our only regret is that we finished our meal before the music started for the evening. I highly recommend making a visit there if you are near Oxford.More

Great sign out side of building that time forgot, but houses a restaurant that good food remembered! Live music is local and inviting. Very casual, great food and unique atmosphere. Enjoy the catfish/shrimp etc. but save room for some dessert (if you can).
