A little expensive and nothing special. Pieces are really small also. Atmosphere is ok, but just average.

Stopped in for lunch. The fried chicken was outstanding as was the sweet tea, cole slaw and French fries. Recommend stopping in any of their locations.

Visited with a group of volunteers doing disaster relief following the recent tornadoes in the area. Several of the guys were familiar with Gus's, and recommended it for lunch. Portions are large...two of our group ordered the daily special which was three breasts with the...usual sides of slaw and beans. They were overwhelmed by how much food they received, and a couple of our late arrivals were told to just order some sides and a drink. There was plenty to share! The chicken is advertised as being spicy, and it is indeed very flavorful without being overwhelmingly hot. Unfortunately, there is no "un-spiced" offering available, so everyone needs to agree if you visit here. Nobody thought the chicken too hot, and several thought the baked beans were spicier than the chicken. Very nice lunch!More

We had to try Gus's after hearing so much about it. We drove by the downtown location and it looked a little grubby. Since we were in Southaven, we decided to try this one. Newer, spacious restaurant with plenty of parking. We ordered the chicken...strips and they were excellent. Moist and tender. The cole slaw was very tasty. We also ordered a side of fried pickles. They were good but a little expensive for the serving size. Our server was good and kept our iced tea filled.More

Best fried chicken... hands down! Gus’s never lets us down at any location. The crust is perfect and the meat itself is always very moist.

We stopped here after a recommendation from a friend and we weren't disappointed. Fried okra = good. Fried chicken = good and spicy, great with a cold beer (or cold root beer). We aren't from the south, so we also sampled the chess pie, chocolate...chess pie, and coconut pie. A little too sweet for my taste, but was still a good contrast from the salty and spicy meal.More

This may be a case of high expectations but I expected a place called “world famous fried chicken” to have exceptional fried chicken. These expectations were heightened by the reviews and TripAdvisor rankings. To the contrary, I found the chicken (I had 2 piece dark...meat) average. I also got the cole slaw and baked beans. The cole slaw was good (not great) and baked beans above average. To round out the review, my service was fast and friendly.More

I had never been there and had 2 kids so I asked why everything on the kids menu is labeled spicy. The waitress snapped "That's the Gus's seasoning." The tenders were ok. Water tastes like it's filtered through and old sock. The service was adequate....Prices were reasonable.More

We love Gus’s chicken. It is always hot and yummy. The sides are good, too. We have one more collection of cups now! The tea is good. Staff has always been friendly and fast. Really good atmosphere. Should be, everybody is eating some yummy chicken!...This is the one we visit so I can’t account for other locations.More

I understand everyone has individual experiences, opinions and feedback. As such, I - like you - have good and bad experiences. I enjoyed Gus's.
