It does not speak well for Oxford that a first-rate whole-hog barbecue place couldn't make it. What sort of Southerner prefers a hamburger? Yet that's apparently what sold here. I gather that the owner has reconfigured the place as "Eddie's Lamar Lounge," specializing in down-home Italian fare. Nothing wrong with that, and it's a gesture to his New Orleans roots,... More

We really liked it and frequented quite a lot while it was Lamar Lounge. Not a fan of Fat Eddies and haven't met many who are, please give us back Lamar Lounge.

Lamar Lounge is now Fat Eddie's. Closed & reopened as an Italian Restaurant. Still have their wonderful hamburgers! I had the Veal Scallopini & it was great! Neopolitan ice cream sandwich was a hit! Highly recommend!

Well my husband and I decided to go the the updated Lamar Lounge, now called Fat Eddies. Lamar Lounge prior to the changes was one of my favorite hang out places with amazing food, reasonable prices, and just a nice environment (especially during the summer months on the patio) that was ALWAYS busy. When we entered, the place looked the... More

Have been to Fat Eddie's twice before. This time, we selected four appetizers and three sides as our dinner. We started with baked Oysters "Casino," Eggplant Stack, Fried Artichoke Hearts, and Garlic Bread. For the finale, we had two orders of Pasta side [with cheese and butter] and one order of Broccoli Raab [rapini]. Everythifn was great, although the artichoke... More

Ok, first off, this restaurant has been completely changed. Decor is similar except where there were bar BBQ decor there is italian. Kind of meh. We were extremely disappointed to sit down to a new menu that had none of the foods Lamar Lounge is known for. I have dreamed about the turkey sandwich and fries....then there was the pecan... More

John Currence has changed the menu to Italian and it is great. The decor changed a little bit--there are now checked table cloths. The food is described as New Orleans Italian and we have tried several dishes--everything is great. The fish dishes and the pastas are our favorite.

I've been 3 times now since the changeover. The appetizers are mediocre, the salads are excellent, the pasta special I had on my most recent visit was excellent as well. The service is slow to get greeted get drink orders, refills, etc. they are trying to be a fine dining, but is a very casual atmosphere. The food is good... More

Lamar Lounge, which was a whole hog barbeque joint is now an Italian Restaurant called Fat Eddie's. The Lamar Burger is the only item remaining from the old menu. The restaurant had minor, but effective, redecorating, Red and white tablecloths, triangular flags strung on lines, and red candle holders give the place a homey South Italian look. Dean Martin on... A relaxing and comfortable place to eat. As one of John Currence's restaurants the food is excellent. It is more laid back than his others. Everything I have had there has been good. The fried pickles and fresh pork rinds are tops! The veggie burger is great but if you prefer the beef patty both are quite good. On Friday... More
