When visiting Oxford, Ajax is a crowd favorite. There is something for everyone, and everything is cooked to perfection. We always tend to go to Ajax when we have first time visitors with us. It gives the Southern Hospitality touch we want our friends to experience during their visit to Oxford. My husband swears by the catfish. ;-)

We had a large party got there at opening and got right in. Service was great! Ham steak not so good all the teens that got it left it on their plate. Catfish was good grits and turnips were as well. Nothing amazing but a good soul food type restaurant.

The Ajax has a nice relaxed atmosphere with excellent food. I always get the catfish there. It is more lightly breaded than one usually gets, but good and spicy. The chicken fried steak and meatloaf are also good choices. The side dishes are not just an afterthought. When in Oxford, a don't miss - lunch or dinner.

Went here for dinner based on previous TripAdvisor reviews. My wife and her parents opted for the vegetable plates (the fried eggplant and sweet potato casserole are a must!) while I went with the meatloaf. A kids menu is available, but my daughter decided on sides of mac-and-cheese and fries. We're normally a pretty talkative group, but there wasn't much... More

We were referred here and was not disappointed. Dinner consisted of country fried steak, pot roast, mashed potatoes, cream corn, mac and cheese, green beans and lima beans. Absolutely no complaints. Service was fast and friendly. The place will fill up fast if getting there at normal dinner times. If back in Oxford this place will be on our list... More

For the first time in 35 years of traveling together, we ate three consecutive nights in the same restaurant. Yes, it's that good. The first night we both had meals comprised of sides. Standouts included greens, red beans and rice, and squash casserole. The second meal we sat at the small bar...more sides but also the meatloaf, good but the... More

The chicken and dumplings are as good as it gets. If you like southern caseroles the side dishes are terrific

Weekend of Ole Miss & Memphis game. Meatloaf was great- super cheese grits. Stewed cabbage was veggie of the day. Nothing we had was less than stellar. Seat yourself but we lucked into a table at 1:30ish. The Big Easy was a good sandwich. Had the Jon Daly- vodka, lemonade & sweet tea- awesome! Would go back again!

This was the one restaurant I was told to visit while in Oxford. The meatloaf is TO DIE FOR. The other notible dish was dessert: the banana pudding (Alton Brown's recipe) was so, so good. This is a funky little joint in that delivers quite a punch!

I went to Ole Miss to see my daughter. Ajax Diner is her favorite restaurant in Oxford and now mine as well. If you like country cooking, you won't be disappointed. This is a must on my future visits to Ole Miss.
