Quick summary: nice bistrot-type menu in the hands of a talented kitchen, with something for everyone. Very nice wine list by the glass or bottle, with expert on-site assistance. Friendly, proefssional service.
We were travelling onthe Natchez Trce, and stopped in Flowood for the night....This looked like a good choice for dinner, based on Tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed.
Small plates to share are mostly in the $10 (Southern snack board) to mid-teen $ (e.g.Calamari Saigon.) Most mains are iin the mid-$20 - mid $30's, with a prime New York strip steak topping the list at $47. All mains come with a nice starch and veg, but extra sides are also available .
Frankly, I'd love to live closer to this restaruant, not only to come more often, but to perhaps stop in for an "assembled" dinner of small plates that look really tasty, e.g. duck & sausage gumbo ($8,), Tilamook cheeder mac & cheese side, and some southern-style turnip greens or garlic spinach (the latter was delish on my red snapper main, served with mashed potato.) My husband had the seared salmon that came with roasted cauliflower and garlic spinach - we were a happy bunch!
The Table 100 burger is served with fries ($15.)
We often split a garden salad to start (good choice,) but there are also other good-looking salads. The dessert ist has a nice assortment, including a very good creme brulee. Good press coffee.
To sum up the food: there is real talent in the kitchen, both in terms of well-crafted food, and also some creative touches (e.g. chive polenta and port wine mushrooms with the grilled pork chop.) There are also some good southern specialties, e.g. shrimp and grits, with turnip greens.
There is a full bar, including some craft ales. Nice wine list selection from around the world, by the botle or glass, all well-priced. Take advantage of the expertise and advice of the wine stweard on board -- very knolwedgeable, professional and friendly. (Unfortunately, I forget his name - it had been a long travel day.)
Due diligence: you might have to remind the wait staff to bring the bread. Otherwise, this is a firendly and professional group of servrs, and hard-working.
Also open for lunch and brunch. There is also a separate bar area that looks like a fun place to meet friends.
I was happy to see that this restarant takes good COVID-prevention practices seriously, with masked waitstaff and well-spaced tables. We are going through difficult pandemic times, and yet they provided a welcoming, safe, and comfortable atmosphere. Single-use menus available, as well as the regular ones.
My only complaint is that I wish we lived closer to this place. We'd be delighted to be frequent visitors. Alas, we'll have to wait until the next time we are in the area.More
