First time to dine here as our ministry had a service in our immediate area.
Grant's kitchen and grill reminded me of a locally owned style of former cafeteria style chains like in days gone by like Lubys or Morrison's.
There are items you could order from the menu or pick meat and 2 sides and your choice of bread for anywhere from $8.95 to $12.95. I ordered the roasted half chicken with pinto beans and okra and Mexican style cornbread. My wife had the Pot Roast with sweet potatoes and green beans as they were out of mashed potatoes. Other entrees on the cafe line today were Catfish, Fried Chicken, Meat Loaf, Country Fried Steak, Smoked Sausage and Chicken and Dumplings. Veggies also were carrots, several types of beans, potato salad, cabbage, and other choices. You can also have a salad bar as a side, a one time trip or all you can eat salad bar for your meal. Desserts today were pecan pie, cheesecake and banana pudding.
Food was good only reasons I did not rate it five stars were my son's cheeseburger was overcooked and his bun was burned and the cornbread was rather dried out. Other than that a great family atmosphere with down home southern cooking!

Stopped by for my first meal here and was very pleased. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. Prices are good and you should not leave hungry. I went with the pot roast on rice with sides of lima beans and black eyed peas with a piece of spicy cornbread. Outstanding. Cornbread was moist and vegetables very good. Very good sweet tea. Piece of chocolate chess pie to go. Definitely worth checking out.

This quick food eatery is excellent for building the plate you love. With many meat choices, a large selection of side items, and delicious desserts, you cannot go wrong. Step in line, grab a tray, and let the server know what you’d like as you make your way through this buffet style service with staff serving you. Many clean tables with multiple booths occupy this restaurant as well as clean restrooms. In a hurry and don’t want to get out of your car? Great news! There’s also a drive thru. Pick your favorite food items and the staff will have it all boxed up ready to go when you arrive at the window. By choosing this homestyle southern food, you will definitely want to return.

I tried this new place a month ago.
We had meat loaf and ck tet. It was just okay. So we decided, let's give it another chance. We have chicken and dumplings, corn casserole and corn bread. Iced tea was horrible. Dumplings had no flavor and corn casserole was wet.
I wont eat here again. On a scale of 1 to 10...i would give it a 2.
Its that bad.

Excellent food at affordable prices. All the comfort foods you can think of. Along with vegetables. They even have grilled salmon. Very friendly staff. Grant has chosen his employees well. New favorite place in Flowood area.

I cannot say anything negative about the food. The food tastes like a southern homecooked meal -- and that's a good thing. But I probably will never return to this restaurant. Why? This restaurant gives a 10% discount on meals to active and retired military servicemembers. So if these military are accompanied by their wives and children -- no discount for THE WIVES AND CHILDREN. Now that's OVERLY tight-wadded.

Fantastic meal, great food, great service. As a family of Aussies we needed a bit of explaining how the menu worked. Staff were fabulous and patient. Food was well priced and tasted amazing. Thanks so much for having us.

The driest half chicken ever. I was so disappointed with the 1/2 chicken, even with the gravy I requested after taking a bite, the chicken was bone dry. This was my second visit to Grants Kitchen. My first visit was via the drive thru which was very convenient.
I’m still indecisive as to whether I’ll try GK a third time.

A kind-of country, café-style food option. Lots of choices. Food was good for café-style selection. Prices were fair. Staff was friendly. The dining area and bathroom were both clean. The food was good, but not so good that it is a "must go there to eat when nearby". That said, I'll probably eat there again.

Grant's Kitchen is on my list on have-to eat place when I visit family in the area. My granddaughter and I had dinner and were not disappointed with the food or service. She chose the chicken, mac and cheese, broccoli plus a trip to the salad bar. I had the sweet potato casserole plus what she didn't eat. We wrapped up the evening by sharing a piece of key lime pie which she proclaimed her new favorite pie. The staff there are welcoming, patient and helpful.

New location. Vegetables and meat. Good selection. And good service. Old location was great. New location is close to Lakeland Drive. Worth the effort.
