Had hesitated to go because of location history, but tried & was blown away by the chef, staff, food and venue.
Field solved all problems plaguing past operators there. Bar re-located and now appropriately sized. Drinks great. Happening scene.
Ignored the corona virus issues and had raw oysters that were perfect, small to medium and salty.
Menu is all over the board price-wise and will please all budgets and tastes. The seared salad was great as was the tuna appetizer.
Gumbo exceptionally good and had a real bonus- a half softshell crab.
Steaks very reasonable and well prepared.
Tripletail special was tasty and available fried, blackened or pan sauteed.

Our first time here and have friends who suggested we try it. As expected, Saturday evening is busy and finding a parking spot nearby is difficult. This is a nice, trendy, well decorated place and the hostess/wait staff were very friendly and service prompt. We were seated at a table for two and my chair faced a wall so evaluating the atmosphere and ambience is difficult as my view was limited. We ordered chargrilled oysters for an appetizer which were very good. We decided to share the chef's special, surf and turf and requested the filet be split for medium for me and done (no pink) for my wife. Dinner was served with the steaks having a flaming spring of rosemary (I think) on top, along with a crab cake, grilled shrimp and asparagus. My wife's filet was served still bloody and mine was cooked fine, but all the dishes were somewhat bland, especially the steak and the crab cake. Shrimp was okay and asparagus was okay. All in all, we enjoyed our evening yet felt the value was not there for the food.

Had a great experience for our first time here. We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday along with two friends from the area that recommended this restaurant. The service was great, our server and everyone there was very helpful. We ordered the ribeye, scallops, shrimp and softshell crab. The food was delicious. Steak was very tender and cooked the way we ordered it. Drinks were great, nice selection. Will definitely be back.

This was the third restaurant we have tried in this location. Either the building is cursed or it’s the same restauranteur on the third strike. From the over crowded “COVID gauntlet” bar area one has to maneuver to enter the business to the joke of a $16 dollar dessert, the experience was a complete waste of time and money. Even the phone call to make the reservation was odd. We were told, there was one opening left at 5:00, but the dining area was empty most of the hour and a half we were there. Not complaining about the empty dining room though, it was a relief after walking though the Petri dish entryway.
The crab claws were just okay, and had a vinegar taste. The white pizza was extremely under cooked, and tasted like melted cheese on gummy dough. We decided not to spend money on the steaks at this point, but did try too give it one last try with the “special” strawberry panna cotta. Someone forgot to add flavor to the gelatin dome, which was sitting atop a TastyKake dessert shell. The tiny smear of strawberry purée and 4 fresh strawberry quarters were the only things to have favor on the plate. Our server offered to make changes on the pizza and dessert, but the vibe was so off from the beginning, we just wanted to give them the $100 and make our exit.

I shared a birthday dinner with a group of friends. We were ready to order steak and oysters when the chef specials were presented - wow they all looked yummy - I especially enjoyed the crab cake. The food was exquisite and the service was superb -
Thank y’all for a great night! We are still talking about the food!

I went to Fields for a Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday. They were out of tea, and the coffee they served was barely lukewarm. I ordered the shrimp and grits which proved impossible to eat because they were cooked with most of the shell still on and it was literally glued to the flesh. The sauce was too sweet for my liking. Others in my party had the crab cakes and they left most of them on the plate. For such a pricey place I would expect better food.

Ate at Field's Bay St Louis for the first time about late October 2023.
Visited again on January 20, 2023. Service was good as before.
However, quality of some menu choices were much less good than
first visit. This was a Friday night with a good but not overflow crowd.
I ordered the Blue Crab Au Gratin as an appetizer, The presentation
and temperature of the dish was fine. However, on the first visit the
amount of crabmeat in the dish was over the top which made the dish
exceptional. At the price of $ 23.00 quantity of food was ok if it had not
been mainly cheese. The cheese was dominate and the crabmeat was
almost missing, Disappointed to say the least in that I had told my
dinner guests of the excellence of this dish on my first visit. Thus, diappointment
number 1
I am a seafood junkie so I ordered the crab fingers (crab claws). The number
of claws in the order was much less in number that visit # 1. The warmth of the
served dish was also on the cool side. Restaurant trying to control costs with
less product used. Understand that crab products are expensive, but at
$ 23.00 a portion there needs to be more of what is ordered.
After enduring the cheese au gratin and crab claws and luke warm bread
basket - main course entree was limited by cost of items being offered and
our bellies being full of cheese and bread.
One guest just chose a side of collard greens, one chose a caesar salad which
he said was superb, one guest who is having some health issues being treated
by infusions was not in the mood for anything else, I choose to finish the
evening with a cup of the house special that day which was lobster bisque.
It was ok but nothing special. Not piping hot when served but ok, and somewhat
tasty but the lobster intended for the bisque must have been been swimming
by the pot and did not get included in the bisque. Also, the price of $ 15.00
a cup was pretty sporty.
We had a bottle of Frei Brothers chardonnay for the table from the wineries
low shelf production quality with a screw cap. The winery has different levels
of quality of wine at different price points. This $ 18 dollar liquor store wine was priced at $ 49 per 750 ml bottle at the restaurant or $ 11.00 a glass.
Thus, at the end of the evening we had an enjoyable time but were disappointed
that the experience was not up to pay for the first visit Might give them a
strike three chance but will have to wail awhile to forget about last night,
With the limited food and wine for 4, the total tab was $ 156 with a 31 tip total
out the door was $ 187.
The place can be good, but needs to bring up quality to match its prices.

As tropical storm Claudette was approaching landfall we fought the wind and rain to get into Fields and I’m sure glad we did. We had a great meal. Our waiter was awesome, couldn’t ask for any better service.
We started off with some chargrilled oysters followed by a ribeye with bacon Mac and cheese for me and a filet with truffle fries for my wife. Both steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the sides were great.
It’s a restaurant we’ll be going back to for sure.

Stopped by for lunch and we tried the Shrimp n Grits & steak sandwich. Both were excellent. The Steak sandwich was very tender & had a fried green tomato and collard greens. The shrimp n grits came with a bonus > poached egg. The sides were truffle fries and hash browns & were just ok. Recommended.

We went yesterday for a late lunch and the pastrami collard green sandwich was amazing! I haven't seen that on their menu before, but I'll definitely be getting it again soon. Server recommended the South African sparkling chardonnay and it was wonderful (although a bit pricey) as well! Husband got the caesar salad and it had lump crabmeat in it. Definitely added a great touch to it. The server was very attentive, so that's always a plus. We've eaten there many times before, and we're never disappointed. Their steaks and oysters are always awesome, but we decided to try something different this time. Thanks for a great afternoon.

This was a diamond in the rough! Recommended by a server at another restaurant, this place did not disappoint. You can easily drive by this restaurant and think it is a rinky dink hole in the wall.....you would be mistaken. Excellent, upscale steakhouse that is clean, vibrant, and somewhat eclectic. Creative type menu is a little light on the seafood. My only disappointment, being a bourbon snob, was the relatively non-existent bourbon selection. Great service and personalities amongst the staff. Make sure to make reservations on the weekend.

We had a party of 6 on New Year’s Eve.
Three people ordered the seafood Ravioli. The Ravioli's were over fried and the presentation was terrible. One would think that the menu would describe this dish as “fried”. The waiter did ask if we wanted to get something else, but we declined.
The owner came to the table and we asked him why didn’t the menu describe the preparation method of cooking. He said the waiter should have told us the dish was fried. ( I spent 20 years in the service industry and I would never “throw an employee under the bus” for an oversight on the menu description. This is obviously a managerial error.
As we were leaving a person dining with us was talking to the owner about our dissatisfaction. He basically ignored her, and could have cared less that we were very unhappy.
Needless to say, we won’t be returning to Fields in the future.
For a place that is considered one of the top restaurants they should care more about guest satisfaction.

Went here for a business lunch. Nice atmosphere and right on main road. I am oyster lover and always try the Rockefeller. Had a dozen for my lunch entree and they were some of the best I have had, even close to my hope made recipe! plump oysters with the just the right amount of spinach and cheese and herbs. Will be back to get these again!

This is by far the best meal I’ve had in the Mississippi gulf coast and I’ve been to every restaurant down here. Very few New Orleans restaurants even compare. I was there with my wife who made the choice after driving past it several times this last trip and we were so glad we stopped.
The staff was great from the GM to the waitress and Chef Jason’s new twist on the Pittsburg filet with shrimp and crabmeat seemed a little busy at first but every piece was unique and flavorful. I will absolutely become a regular here every time I come visit the area.

Nothing special at all. The steak was over cooked - the char was pretty much "burn." The mashed potatoes had little taste. The gumbo was good, as were the fried cornbread muffins. Service was "inattentive" at best.
